Really? In my 20 years on this earth i've lived in Southampton and Basingstoke, and all the young people sound the same to me in the South.
-
Young people in Southampton speak what's called 'estuary english' now, spread across the whole of the south-east from places like Staines and Kingston. I love the old Southern accent though, with the slight burr. My favourite accent on women has to be Irish, can't beat it. Worst is probably North-East (Humberside, Geordie etc).

Probably have to build up a case, can't just arrest these high-profile people and then have them knocking about for ages while evidence and charges are brought up against them.

The Pirates are actually loaning him out to Disney, I believe he's going to be playing Goofy until April 2014. Good luck to the lad I say.

Assuming that Lee won't be ready to play, and if we get a clean bill of health for the squad (aside from Chaplow and Lambert, obviously) I would play this: ------------------DAVIS-------------------- FRAZER-----FONTE-----HOOIVELD-------FOX CORK----HAMMOND-----MORGAN----LALLANA ---------CONNOLLY-----GULY--------------- Subs: Bart, Martin, Harding, Falque, De Ridder Martin has been sublime since he's come into the team, and ideally I would keep him in but Fonte and Jos have an understanding which hasn't quite developed with Martin and Jos yet. More games will yield a good partnership. Cork was excellent on the right against Forest, and I would keep him there because A) Starting Falque might be too much, too soon and B) De Ridder is a great impact player and I can't drop Morgan or Deano from the middle either. I'm feeling proper confident for this game, reckon we'll turn them over! COYR!

Jos, Hooper, Thomas Rogne, Dominic Cervi and Joe Ledley. Great find for autograph hunters if ever there was one...

£6m bid for Hooper, wage offer of £24k a week, rising to £36k a week upon promotion to the Prem. Nige must really rate him!

your club has no chane of getting a celtic star player .

I wasn't implying that the Scots are a race, but it was a slight on the country itself in my view. And anyway, if you're abiding by forum rules, you need to put a winky face after a joke! -

Disappointed to see some of the slurs against Scotland on this thread, it just shows how small-minded some people are. Matthew Le God especially, knocking the Scottish education system in reply to the OP's comments when the OP is clearly just a moron and not indicative of a whole country! Plenty of people on this board who are Saints fans who can barely write a cohesive sentence with proper grammar and spelling. Scotland is a beautiful country, with landscapes and scenery more beautiful than i've seen anywhere else in Europe. There are problems in the country, but nowhere on earth is a perfect utopia. The sectarian issue is a difficult one obviously, but there are equally problems in England with the likes of the EDL and their infiltriation into footballing culture with their false nationalism. And of course there are some idiots and arseholes that live in Scotland, but isn't that true of everywhere? It's far too easy for ill-informed people who have probably never even left England to make derogatory comments about Scotland and other countries and people they've never even met. -
The official unofficial January transfer targets thread..

He's improved a hell of a lot since his ill-fated spell on loan with us. Had a cracking season with Barnsley then moved to Wolves for a few mil and did well there for a bit. Now that they've got Jarvis and Hunt playing every game on the wings I guess Hammill's getting fed up with the lack of first-team football. Our midfield is amazing, but he would definitely improve our options on the wings. -
Waiting to see who we get in the cup before deciding whether to do this game or the Dag/Millwall game.

Just looks like a few architects drawings tbh...no details!

Not live, as the BBC doesn't stream regional content on their website, but you can watch it when it goes up on iPlayer (tomorrow I think).

Surely having an elected President is the most democratic form of democracy? Not all politicians are jumped up w4nkers... Even though the monarchy has little or no power now, I just feel that they're far too archaic considering this is the 21st century. However as long as we have Labour/Tories in charge of the country, nothing will change. Jamaica has the right idea, trying to annex itself from the commonwealth. There's little or no benefit anymore.

What, the one with Swansea in it? -

Yup, Celtic signed him from Coventry, then flogged him to Burnley a year later. FWIW as a follower and a fan of Scottish football (St Johnstone mainly...although i'm not sure we could be described as a football team!) the Scottish game isn't really that bad. They can still attract some decent players to the league despite there being little or no money to spend. Celtic, Rangers, Hibs and Hearts have got Premiership-sized fanbases and I reckon if they had the cash that clubs in England get then they'd be in or around the PL. European competitions may have put a little bit too much swagger and arrogance into these teams, but there's no doubting that they're big clubs. -
Ah, but Moffat didn't write that... That was the brainchild of Russell T Davies - wholly responsible for the worst moments of the recent incarnation of Dr Who.
-
Yep, it is pretty cheesy but when it's executed properly, Doctor Who is brilliant. I think the fact that it's aimed at a relatively young audience stifles what the writers can really do with the show though. Blink is Series 3 Episode 10, Steven Moffat actually won numerous screenwriting awards for the episode, including English and Welsh BAFTAs (who doesn't want a prestigious Welsh BAFTA?!).

Ask your wife or girlfriend to name saints players.....

My Dad and I took my Mum to her first Saints game last season, the last home game against Walsall. She actually did pretty well with the names, and she still asks me when Arsenal are on the telly if Chambo is playing. F*cking LOL @ Papa Mango! -
This. A million times over. Stop playing along with the f*cking fairytale and see that most other countries do just fine without their monarchy, but we're still clinging on. Excellent.
-
Not many writers out there can boast complete success with their work, but he has written some of the best Doctor Who episodes (as well as Mark Gatiss) including Blink - one of the best things on TV in the 2000s. .....I actually quite liked Coupling. But then again, I was about 11 or 12, watching it on my 10" telly in my room at night after Buzzcocks had finished with the volume down so nobody could hear. Haven't seen it since.

I don't know, I thought Moriarty was alright. He was obviously supposed to be completely insane, unlike Moriarty in the recent Sherlock Holmes films who was just some clever bloke who happened to do a bit of crime every once in a while. I think this series needed a character (aside from Sherlock, obviously) who was completely unhinged and unpredictable. You already had the cold steel indifference of Mycroft (props to Mark Gattiss by the way!), so that particular avenue for characterisation was closed off. Really, in order to create a real villain, he should either be completely emotionless or emotional to the point of madness. I think one thing we can all agree on is that Steven Moffatt is a bloody genius.

He's voicing Smaug the dragon in The Hobbit, as well as some other part. I think times are going to be good for Benedict over the next few years!
-
Oddly enough, it was warmer inside. I think numerous pints of guinness and funny cigarettes helped a bit though.

Anyone go to The Brook on Friday night to see the Bob Marley tribute act Legend? If you closed your eyes, it was literally like Bob and the Wailers were playing. Absolutely sublime. Got the crowd going as well! Big time skanking.
