  1. Why on earth would we want a vastly experienced player who's not wanted at his current side and who played for one of the top ranked countries in the world in 2010's world cup... good point.
  2. Carew, Cole, Piquionne and Baldock have all been capped for their country at some level - only Lee has for us. The quality is more prominent in the WHU team but they're massively underperforming given Cole was in the England squad about a year ago. I rate Barnard, but can't see him staying with us much longer if we do sign Sharp. We'll let him and Connolly go if we get promotion I reckon, Barney will be a great bargaining chip as you say for any Championship-based transfers next season.
  3. Lambert, Sharp, Lee, Guly. I tell you what, show me a team in this league that has 4 better strikers in their squad... aside from maybe West Ham.
  4. "They say it's money that we need, as if we're only mouths to feed. And though no matter what they say, there's some debts they'll never pay." Arcade Fire - Intervention This poem by Scroobius Pip turned into a song with his musical other half Dan le Sac - Magicians Assistant. Sounds much better when it's just Pip and a webcam, the whole thing is great.
  5. Glenlivet - lovely stuff.
  6. What about the Raelian movement? They believe that life on earth was preceeded and created by extra-terrestrials. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ra%C3%ABlism Nutters, obviously, but their view that some of the things witnessed and written in the Bible are just explanations of UFO activity described by an uncivilised society with no grasp of extra-terrestrial life is an interesting one.
  7. Every single day of the week. Martin has come on leaps and bounds this season, will be a solid Prem centre-back in 3 or 4 years time. Definitely one to keep around. In fact I was drawing up a mental list during the Millwall game comparing him and Fonte. Experience - Fonte Aerial - Martin Pace - Fonte Potential - Martin With the ball - Fonte Positioning - Fonte Communication - Martin/Fonte Quite evenly matched, but Fonte is the better all-round defender.
  8. I would expect an announcement tomorrow, and in the squad for Tuesday then. We'll want him in the squad while Jose is still doubtful.
  9. Probably means he'll be back for training in a week, match fitness is a different thing altogether.
  10. That will have been me Started 10 chants from down the front of Block 22 (not that I was counting! ). Support was pretty poor all round, Millwall were sh!te until they scored.
  11. I wonder if any Japanese tourists in the country will be tempted to come to a game if they know he's playing in the future? Our crowds don't seem to be very diverse...
  12. Oh shut it you slag Fixed now. Give him 30 minutes with Rickie up front off the bench.
  13. Our problem on Monday was a static midfield, but with Punch in the team we'll have some genuine width. Guly doesn't work hard enough defensively to play at RM. I would play SDR but he's not match fit.
  14. ------------------DAVIS---------------- FRAZER-----FONTE-----MARTIN-----FOX CORK-----MORGAN-----DEANO----PUNCH ----------LAMBERT-----GULY----------- Subs: Bart, Harding, De Ridder, Reeves, Lee Assuming Lallana, Hooiveld and Chaplow won't be fit.
  15. Decent game, f*cking hungover today after 16hrs of drinking yesterday with Lets B Avenue and chums though! Will try my best to rate the players though.. Bart 7 - Solid all day, never worried about him going up for a catch or his distribution. My mate was worried when he heard that he was starting, but his fears were allayed. Frazer 6 - Got forward well a few times, but also gave posession away a few times from which they started good moves. More matches and he'll be back on form. Harding 6 - Did okay, didn't look particuarly mobile or comfortable playing with SDR, but linked well with Punch. Didn't overlap as much as he should have though. Martin 7 -Solid in the air, good on the ground. Can't help but think the marking was mismatched and he should've been up against Henderson, but a good day for him. Fox 7 - Played well in an unfamiliar position, up against one of the most in-form strikers in the country. Won quite a few headers as well, unlike Monday. Good showing. De Ridder 6 - Didn't look match fit, but tried very hard as always. Swapped wings well but it looks like he didn't have the confidence to go past his marker like usual, lots of crosses from deep. Hammond 8 - Good performance, won the ball back quite a few times and helped out his defence on many occasions. Second half he dropped back in front of Fox to win headers for him so Fox could cover. Excellent. Reeves 7 - Good for a youngster, lacked the physicality that the Millwall midfield had, but still did very well. Lots of good passing and dropping into space. Very promising from him. Puncheon 8 - Obviously worked very hard, showed some good skill and made some good interventions. I still hate the man, but I cannot deny that he was very very good yesterday. On the pitch, support him all the way. Lambert 7 - Did very well despite being buttf*cked by the Millwall defence the whole day, took his goal well too. Looked knackered towards the end though, have to be careful with him not playing for 3 weeks. Barnard 6 - Didn't look anywhere near match fit, but still worked very hard. Slotted back in well alongside Rickie, and when his sharpness comes back with a few more games he'll be a valuable player to have. SUBS Holmes 6 - Did ok down the right, but missed a golden opportunity to put us 2-0 up and finish off the game before they scored. Needs to improve on his finishing. Lee 6 - Promising performance. His movement off the ball was fantastic, looks like that'll be a real strength of his - he's very quick as well. He just didn't get the service that he needed (i.e. ball to his feet) but he'll do well. Shaw 6 - Saw him midweek at the youth game and he was the stand-out player. He looked a little lost on the pitch, but he did quite well and showed some good pace and tenacity at times.
  16. Presumably he was watching Sky Sports News when it was shown.
  17. If we can get him cheap then we should give him a year and a half contract I think. Very experienced at Prem level and would be able to teach our current crop of strikers how to do it up there. Great stand-in for RL as well.
  18. I'd probably say Corky, only because there'd be a chance of a threesome with one of those Essex birds he was ****ging over the summer.
  19. Perhaps a signifier that we're close to bringing in another striker...? Or maybe it's because we've signed Tadanari. Either way, good luck to him.
