Southampton 1 - 1 Leyton Orient - Post match reaction

775 away!? Whereabouts were they? Thought it was a pretty poor following considering they're only in London... -
Martinez will be gone by the end of the month.

So that's what all the "W4nker" and "Paedo" chants were about then!

Agree with you on that, to wait until 83 minutes to use a sub and then only use 2 of 3 is ridiculous! -

He was one of the better performers in the first half, but he got caught out of position a lot in the second. Not a bad performance, but does need to improve. -

Davis 6 - Didn't have much to do, no chance from the corner. It was great to see him screaming at the players to move about a bit, at least somebody had the right idea! Butterfield 5 - Quite composed, but had some dodgy moments. Would have to see Richardson play properly, but Butterfield is 2nd choice for me atm. Harding 7 - Great on the overlap and put some good crosses in, but HOW DID HE MISS!? Jaidi 5 - Distribution was awful as always, and his decline in fitness is noticeable. We need to start blooding Martin and Seabourne as regulars. Fonte 6 - Not his best performance and was beaten in the air a lot. Solid enough on the ground, and kept the ball down a lot which was good to see. Puncheon 5 - Needs to learn to pass. To be fair, he had no options a lot of the time, but he needs to realise that there is a team around him who also want the ball. Lallana 7 - Creative spark is what we've been lacking, was blocked out in the 2nd half a lot by some good Orient marking. Hammond 4 - One of the worst performances i've seen by a Saints player in a while. He was completely anonymous, a total pedestrian for the whole game. Schneiderlin 6 - Looked good going forward and combined well with Lallana, but still needs to work on his tackling and needs to get stuck in more often. Lambert 5 - Looked dangerous in the first 20 minutes, but then he was marked out of the game, which affected the whole team as he is central to how we play. Didn't look 100% fit either. We need a Plan B, Mr Pardew! Barnard 7 - Unlucky not to score, but he got too wound up by the time wasting of Orient and frustrated by missed opportunities. Unlucky to be subbed based on performance, but needs to keep a cool head in the future. Subs (when they eventually came on): Chamberlain 6 - Looked bright enough, would've liked to have seen him come on earlier and play more centrally with Lallana, would've scared the sh!t out of the Orient defence. Connolly - Ineffective and no chance to do anything. It's evident from today's performance that we still have a while to go to forming a title winning team, but it's still early days. Let's not forget we didn't win in our first 10 league games last season. Leyton Orient set out to stifle from the off, and they were gifted a goal and a point by some really poor defending at corners. That's something we really need to work on, but we've been saying that for the last 125 years! Something that was really evident from the game today was the lack of pace. Puncheon has some pace, but we have nobody like Waigo or Antonio last year that's completely electric and can slice through defences. The transfer market is picking up though, so I think we can probably expect some signings before the end of the window. Best part of the game was the rapturous applause for Markus (3 rounds) at the start, real lump in the throat moment. -
Sounds good, JWP is meant to be a fantastic prospect. I'd certainly be over the moon with £10k for my first senior appearance!

Dune runs the UK Fan Club apparently.

Keep a small tuft imo.

What practical use does Shakespeare have? I suppose if you're a Danish prince trying to avenge your father's death, it may work... I learned a lot about the origins of English, how it's evolved through all of these other different languages and how rich and complex our language really is. Better than some stuffy old poems any day imo.
-
Of course I respect your opinion, but that is more the Literature side of things. Language is much more in origin, influence and structure of languages rather than focusing on the literature. Either way, it was still f*cking boring.
-
You have 110% of my respect Marsdinho, what a feat.
-
So relieved now, don't have to worry about anything until 20th September (Freshers!). FWIW Hypo, Language is pretty traditional. Don't think you can get less 'new age' than a whole section of the exam on grammar.

Well, didn't get what I was hoping for. I needed BBBC but got BCCC, thankfully Southampton have still given me a place on the course! See you all in October

Music Tech is more about production, mixing and recording, whereas Music is more classical, based in composition etc. Put it this way, my Music contemporaries were studying Bach while I was studying Run DMC. Not the most academic of subjects, but it was fun and interesting and I feel that i've learned a useful skill from it.
-
BBBC for Southampton, because I took 4 A2s they reduced my offer slightly (would've been ABB I think). Hopefully going to do Applied Social Sciences.
-
I wanted to drop English but I got a decent grade in it at AS so I figured i'd keep it on at A2 to see if I could do the same. Here's hoping...
-
I did.. A2 English Language A2 Psychology A2 French A2 Music Technology ..at Farnborough Sixth Form. Nice place, had a great 2 years there. And Benji, there will be plenty of rat out tomorrow night, literally everybody I know is going out which will be replicated across the country!

F*cking hell, really!? Only really looked at university medical trials, they pay about £200. I guess you're thinking of doing the corporate ones. May well have to sign up for those myself, and where's the nearest sperm bank too?
-
Pretty confident, but none of the exams were easy, believe me. I'm glad that I actually put the work in this year, as I dossed about a bit last year and got pretty average results (BBCC), which I can't be doing with this year really. Think I may have over-achieved in one subject but under-achieved in another, but I guess i'll just have to wait and see now.
-
I 'thought' on average it's about £200, but i've not done too much research into it tbf. There's always the chance you could get the placebo as well, which means there's no risk whatsoever of any side effects (unless you're allergic to Tic-Tacs).
-
So, tomorrow is the dreaded results day for A-level students all across the UK. I've been pretty calm before now, but the nerves are starting to hit me. Not really sure what i'll do if I don't get into university, but i'm sure things will work themselves out in the end. May look at doing an apprenticeship. Anyone else waiting for their AS or A2 results tomorrow? Or got any amusing or interesting stories about results which will ensure that this thread lives until tomorrow so I can post my tearful wailings on here?
-
Exactly, the odds of something disastrous like that happening are so minute that it's not even worth worrying about. It's quick, easy money, and you're helping the advance of medical science too, which benefits all of us! I'll probably end up doing a couple of medical trials sometime in the future, but for now i'm quite happy being skint!

Very moving story, just goes to show what a kind man Markus was and how lucky we were to have him. Spending your last hours buying a special gift for one of your dearest friends is so honourable and generous, Markus will be sorely missed. WIFM + RIP
