Mine for the weekend: Peterborough v Newcastle Newcastle @ 4/7 Cardiff v Swansea Draw @ 21/10 Tranmere v Norwich Norwich @ 8/11 MK Dons v Charlton Draw @ 11/5 St Mirren v Hearts St Mirren @ 6/4 Millwall v Brentford Millwall @ 8/15 Bristol City v Nottingham Forest Bristol City @ 13/8 £1 stake, returns £270. Not gone for any Prem games this time round because the odds are sh!t and they're pretty hard to predict anyway. May even go for a L1 special next week, the odds are pretty good down here!

I only got 1, 3, 5, 9 and 11. They were the easy ones I guess.

Interesting, as I thought that Chinese Democracy was absolutely gash. It couldn't really decide what genre to be. Nevertheless, i'm sure they'll put on a good show!

Crowd seemed to be behind Vince and the Lib Dems, neither Darling or Osbourne got a lot of support. Great to see!

Blink 182 and GNR just don't appeal to me in the slightest. Perhaps if it had been 'classic' GNR, then I may have been swayed, but this is just the Axl Rose Experience. Blink have always been sh!t, and will remain so.

Wasn't going to go originally, but after hearing a few weeks ago that Arcade Fire and The Libertines were playing on the same day, I couldn't pass it up. Just secured my day ticket for Saturday at Reading, looking good so far! http://www.readingfestival.com/ Anyone else going?

Why Kip, by the way you're talking it's almost like you been drinking alcohol or something... Oh, your mum says hi btw.

And also here for UK users: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/8191433.stm The handball for that penalty was f*cking ridiculous.

Antonio was my Man of the Match today, he really scared the sh!t out of their defenders. We've got nothing to lose by signing him on a free, and he could develop into a very good player.

Davis 7 - Did what he had to do, made some good saves and caught a few crosses (!) to ensure that we kept a clean sheet for most of the game. Harding 8 - Didn't look as awkward at RB as I was anticipating. Their winger was pacy and looked to get the better of him at times, but he made some great tackles and looked good going forward. Mills 7 - Made some good tackles, didn't get much of the ball but not much bother for him as their right winger was pretty anonymous. Fonte 9 - Easily the best defender we've had since the days of Killer and Claus. Made some great last-ditch tackles and never looked like losing a header. Jaidi 8 - Very solid, looked a bit tired towards the end and perhaps should've been taken off a bit earlier. No worries for him today. Wotton 6 - He's enthusiastic, but he's not really got that much else going for him. Can't pass and his tackling was a bit iffy sometimes but he played the anchor man role relatively well. We missed Schneiderlin though, wouldn't have played Wotton over him in a month of sundays. Hammond 7 - Low-key performance but he was still an important part of the team. Harried their midfielders and made some good interceptions. Antonio 9 (MoM) - He showed what he can do today. Looked like he had a free role in the first half, and he really scared their defenders. Took his goal very well, and he's surely earned a contract at SMS now! Lallana 9 - Very committed performance from Adam, never stopped running and his trickery was a bit too much sometimes for their defenders. Took his goal very well as well. Lambert 8 - Tucked away the penalty nicely and bothered the defenders as well. You could see that he missed Barnard playing off him, but all in all a very good performance. Waigo 7 - Had his goal put on a plate for him, but still did well to score when he could've easily missed. I really wanted him to just run at his markers sometimes like Antonio does, but he's toned down that erratic side of his game now I think and got a bit more cultured.

I heard a few boos in 538, very disappointed in the fans considering the work that he's put into this club. He's a very ambitious bloke, so naturally he'll want to get the best results and put pressure on the manager and players, that's just how he does things. The media have cottoned onto that and made it look like he's trying to force Pardew out of the club, when it was ML and NC who appointed him at the start of the season and said he was here for the long term. Did notice he wasn't looking very happy though, and neither was Pardew considering he'd just won a cup.

Not sure it'll affect us much, Molyneux's not had a sniff at the first team this season and I doubt he ever will again. Sunday aside, we have players like Seabourne who can cover at full back, and when we have a fully fit first team we have 4 recognised right backs and 3 recognised left backs (not including Molyneux). Not short on options I'd say... Bye bye Lee! :smt039

About a quarter of the way through 'More What If...', which is a series of essays by eminent historians imagining what the world could be like had key historical events not happened the way they did. I actually got this book about 3 or 4 years ago, but it didn't appeal to me at the time, and I have to say that i'm now getting really into it. It's weird to think what the world could be like had the Germans captured Britain (the front cover of the book is a photoshop picture of Hitler riding through Westminster in a motorcade with thousands of Nazi troops looking on, and swastikas hanging from Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament), and various other events. Most interesting was one of the first essays is by Josiah Ober, who works at Princeton, and it discusses what today would be like if Socrates had been killed when fighting in the Athenian army. It never really struck me that the premature death of an ancient philosopher could have huge effects, but thinking about it, most of our western civilisation is built around the ideas of Socrates and Plato, his protegee. Eerie thought. I recommend it to anyone vaguely interested in history, although as a complete history novice myself i've found it quite easy to get into! £6.80 at Amazon now! http://www.amazon.co.uk/More-What-If-Eminent-Historians/dp/0330487256/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1269549897&sr=1-1
