Saturday Championship Matches Thread
the saint in winchester replied to Lighthouse's topic in The Saints
No, Forest DON'T have a chance. They are abysmal. Their recent results show they couldn't beat anyone right now. I'd settle for Saints matching (or beating) Wham's score today. I'd settle for maintaining a lead on goal difference by Monday 10pm. -
There is more to life than Gary flaming Hooper
the saint in winchester replied to AndyD's topic in The Saints
J Rod was first choice pre-season but 'Gary flaming Hooper' is clearly first choice this month. However, I agree with your summary that he is not key to our plans - we never had him. Personally I wouldn't want anyone who doesn't want to be with us, and I'd sooner not spend more than £3M on another striker. If that rules out J Rod and Gary flaming Hooper, so be it. Plenty more fish in the sea. And I'm sure there's one who would jump at the chance to join the side top of the Championship, with a solvent and stable finance structure. We are a great catch, regardless of what GfH and Neil F Lennon might think. -
RHODES please.

Agree with you. Manager doesn't want to sell, player doesn't want to come here. Let's move on to someone else who DOES.
-
If the player doesn't want to play for us (see BBC report with quotes from the player) then we should move on. Desire has to be there, which is why Lukas J was a good option. Too late now, though, only £1.3M was what it took for Boro to get him.

Share your comment. Guess it's about timing. We had them a plenty at RM then ... now, we'd take any of the 3 back.

The official unofficial January transfer targets thread..

I'd say YES please. -
Lukas Jutkiewicz.... is he worth signing?
the saint in winchester replied to david in sweden's topic in The Saints
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You write good stuff, my fellow Wintonian. Sadly our play has indeed become predictable and other teams are stopping the supply from midfield to Lambo on the back stick. We don't seem to know any other way to play right now. -
Would think - if this story is true - we are trying to squeeze a few more £k out of Blackpool. £750k may be the figure NC has in mind. Also, reading their comments on their weblink above, they think Tom Ince could be impacted if JP comes in. If they would let Incey come our way, even on loan, that would be an attractive proposition.

Completely unrelated subject, but no point in starting a new thread ... Saints related as it relates to Rudi Skacel. 1622 FOOTBALL: Crawley Town launch a bid to sign Hearts midfielder Rudi Skacel. Steve Evans, manager of the npower League Two leaders, revealed he hoped to sign the 32-year-old Czech on loan until the end of the season.

Do you mean winger, or whinger? Do you see what I did there. I make myself laugh sometimes.

What the fek is a woman doing presenting MOTD?

I'd rather look at Gabby than Lineacre - I'm assuming it is Gabby?? Not actually watching ManYou get spanked myself. -
"Reading manager Brian McDermott has admitted that he is losing his fight to keep winger Jimmy Kebe at the Madejski Stadium. There will be interest from other parties, I know that." from the skysports link I gave. He is playing in a position (RM) where we have a definite need. As such, I offer him up to the group for review.
-
Every phrase highlighted above is either offensive or crass. I wasn't asking if people think he's any good - I have an opinion, unexpressed until now, that I would like to see us make an offer as I believe he would add value. We all have opinions. That is the raison d'etre of chat forums. Perhaps you and others of your ilk believe we shouldn't raise any names of players who we haven't already bought or subjects that haven't been raised on the OS?? Your comment added nothing to the discussion.
-
Let's get in there. Snatch him before Wham do!!! http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11673/7410389/Kebe-set-for-Royals-exit
-
Then, Mr Lee-san, come on down!!!! Give him the number 8 shirt - if that number really is lucky for Orientals.

Brighton 3 Saints 0 Post match chat!
the saint in winchester replied to SOTONS EAST SIDE's topic in The Saints
Just listened to NA's post match interview and he states we are working hard to get players in either as perm or loan signings. Expects/hopes to have players in place by next league game (14th?) -
Like the two posters above, I have complete confidence in Aaron Martin so don't mind if Fonte is fit or not. We have 3 quality CB's for 2 positions.
-
This looks a credible suggestion TBF - Italian connection .... I can see this one happening .. hopefully. Now then, a £5M offer for Adomah please, or go find Michael Antonio for another hurrah.
-
As noted above, Adomah was the eye-catcher. I'd offer silly money for him, and I mean really silly. So silly they would have to sell. As for Bristol City - very physical, a bit too much, I didn't appreciate the constant clambering over Lambert and Guly ... but as someone said above they had a game plan to stifle us and hit us on the break, and it was a sucker punch. We huffed and puffed, but created few clear cut chances. Once they got the goal, I knew that was the only goal to be scored. Smash and grab, yes. We were mugged, but we could see it coming!

You think its a "cheek" to look to make no profit on a sale? Words fail me. You're either a rich capitalist who can afford to pay out for something that you haven't enjoyed or you're from the Workers Revolutionary Party and think I should give away everything I own. I am simply asking if anyone who would like tickets but has been unable to get them as it is supposed to be a sellout would like mine. Yet again, you hijack sports threads into extreme politics, Citizen Dune.
-
That was my thought too. How many forwards do they want??? Rickie Lambert was unproven at this level - now he's top scorer. I would take the risk. We can always sell him on if we need to.
