  1. We said the same about the zoo scene. Why didn't they split up and walk in different directions rather than walk en-masse?? And then have a go at Bily for trying to sell product!? Duh, get busy selling, girls. One of the better candidates, for sure - certainly the best looking! She came over really well on the BBC2 'You're Fired' prog after. Her only error was not shutting up before Sugar.
  2. I think the OP raises a fair question, and one that has been on my mind too. Only NA knows the answer. Whether he was signed as a deputy for Lambert, or to play alongside him, or simply to add strength to the squad ... we don't know the rationale NA gave to Mr Cortese. I'm impressed that we haven't seen any moaning quotes in the press from Sharp - and I mean that. He was a big fish at Doncaster, he can't even get into our pond, and yet I haven't read of him belly-aching about being brought here. I would like to see more of him, but 'the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few' (to quote Mr Spock). Assuming he's not barred from the game on Saturday (as a condition of the transfer), it would be good to have him play a role.
  3. Well, Mr Dune, I would like to buy you a drink! Saw this thread title and thought "you don't need to renew them ... do you?" I thought they were lifelong cards, but I see mine ran out in Jul-2011! As we're on hols in 3 weeks, I'm grateful to you for posting this. I have just applied to renew my cards on the free kosher website. Thank you, Sir Dune.
  4. Well said that man. I'm a (financial) analyst, I love analysing trends and all, but ....... let's just take it a game at a time. Anything can happen to anyone. Time will tell.
  5. Like me, he's from the Wirrall. We're not Scousers, we're from this side of the Mersey river. The spiritual home is Tranmere Rovers, and they can't afford him.
  6. Redknapp - I don't like the self-deprecating line he is taking now. "I don't know if the England job is right for me, or if I'm right for the England job." He always said he would jump at the chance. Now he is about to be crowned from a shortlist of one name - his own - he is playing a game of "if you want me, talk me into it, cos I might not want it unless it pays megabucks." Yes, he can do the job, and do it well, but if he isn't committed, then don't give it to him. Agree Roy Hodgson has a top drawer CV, with international experience, and should be seriously considered. Adkins - he has done and is doing a fantastic job for us. I hope we can keep him for another season at least, but if someone of the gravitas of a top half Premier side came a-calling eg. Liverpool, it would he hard to deny him his chance at that level. His appraisal is going to read "performance exceeds expectations."
  7. You were the only one on my wavelength, LillyFlo. I had a little chuckle and came back to see if anyone had commented. Well done to you.
  8. so ... why has this thread from 18 months ago been reactivated?
  9. I'm sure there will be a naming or erection somewhere at the stadium to recognise his dream being realised.
  10. He can see Swindon will get promoted this season, whereas Oxford are only vying for a playoff place. Can't blame him, I suppose.
  11. Yes. That crossed my mind too. They have held Wham to a draw, are currently beating Reading .... this could be a banana skin for us coming up!
  12. Long way to go yet. Reading will press, high tempo football until the 95th minute. But ... great the Doncs have got their noses in front. Reading have to get 2 goals now to get 3 points!!!
  13. That's my predicted scoreline too.
  14. 52 Been in Winchester since primary school. Now my two are at college and secondary school here. Earliest memories at The Dell were standing on an upturned milk bottle crate down the front, just tall enough to see over the wall (if I stood on tiptoes) watching Ron Davies, Joe Kirkup, John Sydenham, Terry Paine et al. Whatever time we arrived before 3pm, the crowd would "let the nipper through" to I could get to the front. Happy days. Only problem was that no-one actually WENT to the toilet in those days (well. you'd lose your spot on the terrace) so watch out for the sea of wee making its way over the steps. Them were the days. No alcohol at the ground in those days, so Dad would get to The Cowherds by 1.30, have a few beers, then we would walk down to The Dell. Then after the game, a few more beers until the traffic on The Avenue cleared. My Dad died a couple of years ago, we pleased to say that we had a few seasons of 3 generations at SMS (myself, Dad and my son). So my Dad took me, now I take my son, and I hope one day soon - maybe in 10 years time, my son will be taking HIS son to watch Saints play ManYoo in the Premier League, and taking me with him!!! So I've watched Saints for 45 years already, and hope to get in another 20 before I'm tucked up in a care home.
  15. This is all very nice but it reads like an Oscar acceptance speech, when we really are just one of the nominees. Can we park the tributes until the season is over. Whether we make the autos, the play-offs or miss out completely this time around, then I would be more than happy to direct praise to key parties. Right now, we are still a work in progress, making that 5 year plan look more than achievable. But yes, it's great to be a Saints fan again.
  16. I think that's the nub (spelling? knub??) of it. Guly is playing in a position where we have other options, so fans of the other options will resent him being first choice. He'd be MY third choice, but I defer to Adkins. What is frustrating is that - as noted many times - Guly blows hot and cold, and when he's cold, he should come off and allow someone to affect the game.
  17. All I can think is win every game! 10 games, 30 points, we are PROMOTED!!! I can't think about dropping any points! We will, though, so i hope Wham and Reading drop more!!!
  18. Would be interesting to read Notts County fans feedback on his performance to date.
  19. nothing wrong with Lalla's shooting today!
  20. It IS in our hands, yes, but there is no margin for error now, with 3 teams vying for 2 auto-prom places. We are 3 points ahead of the other 2, but they have a game in hand. If they both win it, we are there on top on goal difference alone. Of course, the other 2 have to WIN that game in hand, though.
  21. He only scores in multiples!!! 2 for us vs MK Dons, now 3 for Notts County at Charlton! He could get more!!!
  22. I noticed that too! But its still quicker than skysports.com !!!
  23. Just been casting an eye over this. Looks like £3M is the benchmark for a midtable Prem side, up to £5M for a top 6 manager. http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/blogs/the-rundown/top-30-best-paid-managers-180530845.html The budget for salaries, wages etc will need to be reviewed when/if we have Premiership income from TV etc. It would be crass to speculate on what Adkins is getting now, but he's worth every pound!!
  24. I agree! Let's stretch them.
  25. Yes! There should be a stipulation that if you have faced a particular team twice already, then you can't play against them a 3rd time for a new club. Both Picquionne and Nouble have played for their owning clubs against us twice already. That should blackball them to be playing against us again.
