A real shame he hasn't had a look in. And he can do a heap better than Derby. Would like us to show an interest come January.
-
No reason why he will do that. Goalkeeping position can be shared so both keepers play 20 games per season.
-
Unless they can get a high grade interim, then no point sacking him. Three names touted today - Hiddink, Di Matteo and Rogers. I'd put a line through Rogers right now. Di Matteo inherited a quality side who would have won CL with or without him, so not sure if he's THAT good. Hiddink would be the one to go for, IMHO. If they can't get him, better the devil you know this season, and see who is available at the end of the season.

Returning Ex Saints Players on Sunday
the saint in winchester replied to onthemarch's topic in The Saints
That was right at the start of his time with us, and then he was a bit chubby and didn't look the part. He slimmed down and his game sharpened; he became a good keeper and was loved. Just a shame he was upgraded and told he was #2 going forward. Water under the bridge now. No need to boo him .. or anyone for that matter. -
That's true. He was looking for a runner Wed night but no one making those runs, so holding on to it until muscled off. Agree with the comment above that he seemed to be pacing himself though. I too thought we would see a master class from him, but we didn't really and could disagree with the substitution. Davis linked the play straight away.

1) Yes, maybe. He needs to get game time to convince RK though. 2) One would assume that, yes. If you're 'only as good as your last job' can't see anyone paying at that level. 3) this is my preferred option 4) this is the most likely option, although I don't think we need to invest big money again as we have others who can fill his boots. On 1st Jan, offer him £25k/wk new contract. If he declines or dithers, we have to try to recoup something or else he walks for free at the end of the season. I'm still hoping for a fully effective Gaston, costing us £25k going forward. Optimist huh.

Yeah, I watched it too, the second half. He should have stopped the second goal. He has his plusses, like good distribution, but not ready for the first team yet.

Saints V Villa Build Up Thread Capital One Cup
the saint in winchester replied to Stepgar's topic in The Saints
Can't see any of the U21 likely to make an appearance in the first team. They are a long way off being ready. All seemed scared of the ball and tried to get rid of it quickly. Pass and move is good, but this was pass and run away. -
Well put. My view exactly.

Two good comments, Ant. There's no harm in encouraging him through to January with games to impress us or next suitor, then offering him a new contract on a more realistic wage in line with being a squad player. He may recognise that 'a bird in the hand...' etc. If he turns us down, then ok, we have to sell to highest bidder (assuming there is one) to recoup whatever we can.

Is the OP 'the artist formerly known as Coxford Lou' or is it a Bompey vistor? If the latter, she/he will want an away hostelry.
-
Still hoping we get something back! Make it £6M price tag in Jan as he walks for free in May.
-
OK, any chance we can recoup that £12M?
-
Hopefully next season our top 2 keepers will be Forster and Stekelenburg (no priority order intended, purely alphabetical). 3rd choice keeper TBA. It's just this season we need to get through to make the above happen.
-
Surely he will be after Jonno Quick?!

Sorry to bring the stadium expansion question up again, but last night's response that we need to fill up the existing stadium for multiple years before expanding drew a frown from me. Are they looking for a complete and total sellout every game? Many a time I go looking for say 3 or 4 seats together and it isn't possible. You can't split families up. There may be one seat in the Northam, one seat in the Kingsland etc but that isn't what we need. Build it, they will come. No club sells every seat every game.
-
In every scenario in my mind, we need Stek to be signed on a perm contract either sooner or later. If FF comes back this season, we will have 2 quality GK. It's just until then we have to 'make do and mend'. We can't go spending loads for a few months cover. It's KD and PG until then.

Claudio Ranieri held Saints boss talks in 2014
the saint in winchester replied to old_southy's topic in The Saints
Quite normal to consider other candidates even when one CV stands out on paper. Ranieri was sounded out, maybe even interviewed, but Koeman was always the stand-out candidate. -
Agree. His comments are now an embarrassment to the club. Regardless of results over the next few games, unless he is silenced, I think Chelsea will have to end his stress in this country.
-
Torquay?

Not very often you get a new signing 10 games into the season. It'll feel like that if Clasie comes in.
-
You've been spending too much time with David in Sweden.
