Let's draw a blue line under this and control the controllables! Spiritual home.

De Boer is Dutch, but what else do we know? Not sure who I would want next. Still hoping Koeman sees sense, does another year with us, then goes on to Arsenal, with my/our blessing.

No other club loses it key personnel consistently

Very sage comment there, MLG. Up to know, we have been a showcase club (Les' expression). Seems Koeman wasn't on board with that. -
Yeah, it sounds hideous, but £2.5M a year is £50k a week. Expect some players are on more than that? £4M is around £80k a week. We paid that for Gaston to play elsewhere, for goodness sake. This is poker now. We have to up our offer.

Saints Transfers Thread - Deadline Day

We don't know for certain that Chambers still has it. Two years of inactivity. Why not take him on loan now, with purchase price agreed, if we want to make it a perm deal. £1M loan fee for the season, another £9M if he makes the grade. If he doesn't prove himself or dislodge Cedric or Martina, we have only spent £1M. I'm not sure I want us to throw a huge fee at Arsenal now in the hope he is still the player he was. -
Matt Targett is already first team squad. The others are still not, so their future may lie elsewhere.
-
So this story that Everton would offer him £6M a year (against our £2.5M offer) .... I shouldn't be concerned? Yes, I agree that Koeman will go on to Arsenal or Barca in 1 or 2 years. But this loadsamoney money offer from Everton may turn his head, no???

What! I give you ....Kasey Keller. (Free) emergency loan signing, and was better than anyone on our books! -
...his name is Theo, he is a Walcott.....
-
Good shout! Does he qualify for England? Or Jamaica or someone? I genuinely don't know, but if he qualifies, good shout.

We would all like that, of course. However, players have short careers and want to play at the highest level. I hope Koeman understands that it will be hard to retain players that are intent on leaving this summer. Coming 6th and playing in the Europa league is a step forward, but some players will say "I want to win silverware and play in the Champions League next season." If clubs can offer them that, we are going to have to hold them to their contracts then!
-
I only wish Markus Leibherr had been around to see that the goal was achieved.
-
I guess if we would offer a contract whereby he can give notice if a bigger club (eg Arsenal or Barcelona) came calling, then that would work on both sides.

End of thread.

I can't see Koeman going to Everton. See out his contract with us, and take over at Arsenal after that. I keep saying it. Everton can pick from Benitez, Pellegrini, De Boer, and a host of others including their exes Brendan Rogers and David Moyes!!! I'm sure Brendan would love to go up against Liverpool with their neighbours.

JWP & his annual time to "kick on"
the saint in winchester replied to Saint Charlie's topic in The Saints
Seems the club management rate him very highly after an improved and extended contract. Let's hope he is a star at the U21 Tournament and we see where he can fit in better for us. -
JWP & his annual time to "kick on"

He's a 'water carrier' as someone once used the term. Moves the ball on to others who do something with it. Neat and tidy passer, takes free kicks into the box. All teams have water carriers. Yes, hopefully he will find something unique about his game soon that sets him apart from others, but right now he seems a bulk standard midfielder, the sort you bring on when another player is out of puff and we need fresh legs. -

A chocolate bar is on its way to you, sir. You spotted my deliberate mistake. That scenario would indeed have us finishing 5th! Well, the set of 'hopeful predictions' is still on btw. West Ham did win, and Liverpool drew. If Begovic knew how to make a fist and had punched that cross away, it would have been a Chelsea win, but hey ho. I can't see Bournemouth getting anything at OT, so 6th is looking best scenario...if Stoke can do us favour by beating Wet Spam. -
Wow, Sandwich and 2Pints, that pic and commentary has put tears in my eyes. Look at that pic and play Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On?" - amazing

Message to OP : either of these routes is recommended. I used to work in Bracknell and have tried all routes. Right now with the 50mph limit after Hook, come off at Hook, go through Eversley (lovely village green cricket and pubs) and then through Finchie. Try to get through there before 8pm as Nine Mile Ride into Bracknell can get clogged.

If our season tickets were £300, meaning a break even of say 8 or 9 games, I would buy one, knowing I only need to get to such a few games to make it worthwhile. At £6-700 it's a no from me, as I don't get to the current breakeven of 15 home games. I believe many are in the same position as me, so if we had a huge stadium, we could sell them. Build it, they will come.

Saints v Palace build up & Match Thread

Plotting our path to 6th place, I make it we need the following: Tuesday West Ham vs Man Utd HOME WIN Wednesday Liverpool vs Chelsea DRAW/AWAY WIN Sunday Man Utd v Bournemouth AWAY WIN Southampton v Crystal Palace HOME WIN (obviously) Stoke vs West Ham HOME WIN West Brom vs Liverpool HOME WIN Final table: 6th Southampton 63 points(better goal diff) 7th Man Utd 63 points 8th West Ham 62 points 9th Liverpool 59 points I accept it's unlikely Bournemouth can win at Old Trafford, so ok 6th is looking unlikely. But we can dream, right?
