    Dave jones

Lee Todd is the worst player I've ever seen in a saints shirt. And him and Marshall summed up jones time here. God we had some **** managers then. Jones, sourness and merrington. All terrible managers kept in a job by le Tiss
  2. The Alex is the best pub in southampton, before a saints game, after a saints game and at any other time.
  3. Now wait for the Portsmyths to start, there'll be MILLIONS of them camped up in pubs all over the city and we won't show cause we're so scared of their supermen fans.
  4. I work in london and live close to the emirates and the truth is those that go are a fu.cking embarrassment. BUT those that go are more often that not, not from london. I've noticed they're the chosen team for a lot of the posh student types that move to london and feel like they should "support" a football team, the amount of plastic Arsenal fans i talk to day to day who use words like "entertainment" and don't care if people slag off their atmosphere because they have a better class of fan (they think) is unbelievable. In fact i actually hate Arsenal far more than spurs these days because of their sh.it, plastic, posh support in London (from people outside of London in the main). On the flip side though go to the pubs that show streams around Finsbury Park, Highbury, parts of Islington and the Cally road and you'll still see Arsenal's proper support. The noisy lot that went in the 80s (and who to be fair could be a bit of a fu.cking nightmare at times). And they hate Arsenal's new support far more than the majority of other fans as they've taken over the club, ripped out it's soul and priced them out
  5. God we have a bunch of precious fans, when i first went in the early 80s there was a hell of a lot more than swearing going on but you know what as a nipper that was exactly what made it exciting. Problem is we have a load of rich people in the game these days who want to protect their precious little things from real life, god knows if they go to a normal school they'll hear ten times worse than what's said at the football.
  6. Football sis sanitised to **** now, and arsenal is the home of the middle class "fan". So it's no surprise the precious little Tarquins that have killed off arsenals soul would get uppity about the nasty away fans swearing and making gestures at them. ****ing shame the game has gone this way, but let's be honest it's what the football elite want
  7. Any of the skate goals against us obviously. But also Ian wrights hatrick in what I think was his first season for arsenal. Was used on a tv advert too just to rub salt in.
  8. The football knowledge on the Ugly is better, an older crowd; more grounded; seen more; less likely to over hype, the **** taking is better there too as there's less precious fu.ckers. But it is seriously fu.cking slow at times.
  9. Proper ballache this as i was hoping to make it along due to living in london. Might do the home end for this one.
  10. i found this really interesting from a scouser (to put our season into context).
  11. Not sure about the kids bit mate, there was always a healthy two or three rows of them at the front being slowly crushed into the wall. Also think the first game i did in the milton - half way down by the crush barriers - i must've been about 11/12. In fact our prematch ritual used to include getting there early enough to sit on the terrace with our legs stretched out so no tall fu.cker would stand infront of us. Of course this would work for all of about half an hour then you had no choice but to sway side to side to see past the head of the giant infront of you (giant in a small nippers terms anyway). Also remember a black lad at the back of the milton, east stand side, always took his nipper under the roof. That must've been late 80s though as we'd graduated up to the back by then, and people used to lift his nipper up to see. Seriously miss those days to be honest, great times and a great laugh.
  12. Started out in the archers/east stand corner as a nipper in 84 (Coventry at home) then moved around a fair bit, east stand, west stand and the roof before I started going regularly with a group of mates in the Milton about 87/88. It was a crack ground back then, as people have said queuing up outside from two having decided on the day we were going, getting in and ripping up our free copy of the echo to chuck when the players came out. Also remember the Milton's lung busting version of owts. Holding each word till you were almost out of breath. And then surges down the Milton when we scored. It wasn't the same after they put the seats in but could still rock - literally if you were in the upper east or west - at times. St Mary's won't ever be the same to be honest, footballs been too heavily sanitised now and there's less groups of lads 13-18 who just went as groups now. Sad thing about that is that I made my best mates from the Milton terraces people i still see almost 30 years later, **** that makes me feel old, and who I trust completely.
  13. Call me a killjoy but that chant leaves me cold and smacks of small time Also I thought the atmosphere was pretty subdued today. Great in the first half then just petered out. And I still don't think its up there with the championship when st Mary's really rocked.

    Lallana

The season we went down from the championship I slagged him off and said he wasn't up to standard. Since then I've been proven wrong at each level. Today, for me at least, he proved he's international quality. His fitness and sharpness are up a gear and he's obviously been taking running lessons from usain bolt. As rounded and stand out a performance as I can remember from a saint in a long time. We really are watching good times with this lot, I just keep everything crossed that we don't lose too many in January
  15. I was thinking before this game it'd be a tough one that we'd have to grind out a result from. But the thing is we just keep getting better. This team is up there with Nicholl side for being a joy to watch, and whilst I don't expect it to continue all season I'm loving it now.
  16. The good thing about this is that it'll attract even better young players to our academies, since not only do we develop them and create opportunities for them in the team but it seems it's a way into the england set up too (at all levels) too.
  17. Personally think we should keep the team the same for this one as the last league game. If we're struggling then bring on Osvaldo but otherwise i see no need to change something that's working very well at the moment.
  18. I'm really not sure he is one of us, one of redbridge school for special needs maybe but other than claiming to be a saints fan i don't think he has anything in common with most people in the normal world
  19. He's a bloody embarrassment if you ask me, and more successful than any skate in getting people to think saints fans are a bit up themselves and a joke.
  20. I've seen it all over the place, the problem is it's from the minority. It seems that most are still firmly grounded, they remember the days at the dell; the collapse through the leagues and the rise back through. The problem comes from a few, like MLG, who run round spouting off that we're a champions league team in the making who'll be building a 60,000 stadium and turning over europe's elite for their best players. Personally i think it comes from a generation bought up on sky hype where the expectation is that everything has to be the biggest and best instead of just enjoying what we have and not taking things for granted.

    Top 4

    Arsenal Liverpool Chelsea Man city
  22. It's almost impossible to keep up at the pace they sing it at in block 42 and i'm in that block.
  23. Shearer and to a lesser extent Danny Wallace would've fitted our current style perfectly. Wonder how much their equivalents would cost now though
  24. Really lucky to have him, i've got friends who are fans of the big five clubs who are all seriously jealous of him (plus shaw, clyne, lallana and prowse) which to me is the ultimate compliment. What a change in fortunes since we were in league one rolling our arms for a sub away at swindon!
