  2. Well, I'm in with the 'never leave them alone, especially when that young' camp. But I do wonder if your kids were napping and you had a biggish garden, say 50 yards, and you were doing some weeding at the end of the garden - how could you be sure they were ok? Fine, I've actually done it, with a baby monitor by my side, but I sus[ect I wouldn't have heard any suspicous sounds over my own breathing, if the kids were going to be taken by demented, careful, arseholes. I think it reallly is a case of shltty luck.
  3. Being a pedant, I went to look at the article, but couldn't find any obvious spelling errors - have they fixed them, or is it just the transcription of his overseas (not quite perfect) English? All the same, he has become the new, improved, Claus?
  4. Anyone seen any biographical stuff on NA - particularly about when he was younger? I'd be interested in how it was for him 20 or 30 years ago.
  5. As was mentioned somewhere else, the dross teams are being shifted out - they must be coz Norwich, Swansea and poss QPR are staying up. That means less dross to gather points from. Therefore - 1st!!!
  6. Yep, I've switched to radio. FKKKINN annoyed!!!, but 4 is ok
  7. Anyone's overseas BBC stream been terminated? It was working really well?!?
  8. Well, I was pleased Cov went down a couple of years before us because I thought we might beat their 30 year unbroken top flight record (outside of the other 4). It didn't happen, but Cov and Soton are very similar cities (tho never been to Cov - don't need to, I know what **** loads of bombs and neo-classical redevelopment means), so I am happy to wish them the best - but I REALLY WANT THEM TO BE BEATEN AT THIS MATCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  9. I am so glad the final games are on at 12:30 (9:30pm) over here. The amount of 2am and 5am finishes I have ended up listening/watching/reading about have reallly stuffed up family and work life. I will be glad when the season's over - not really bothered about Euros or Olympics, didn't even know about Chelsea result til I read some of these posts - good for them, pleased to see an Énglish'side in the final. But whatever, these next days are goinng to drag. Like a lot of people, I nice little time tunnnel to Sat (night in my case) is what's needed!
  10. Good points, if true. They've take the 'inside ****ing out rather that outside ****ing in' approach, which I should admire them for. As a Libber all my life, I suppose I should appreciate the pragmatism, doing small, good changes, even if they get villified. Unfortunately, they may get murdered at the next election, and cease to be a voice of reason.
  11. No difference to the Beatles, when told to scream those girls will scream! Are you telling me teenage girls sought a significantly higher standard of music on the 60's? No they just wanted to be near the popular handsome men. Although the Beatles are still popular 50 years later, it's a bit precious to worry about One Direction, who are just doing what Take That did, and they've achieved some 'credibility'. Also, agree with Shandy - Blink 182 (and the other band with numbers and letters in their name - JJ something) aren't the best example to compare - again, they have/had a bit of credibility - at least some passion and guitars, you could say the same about Reef, but I'd put them lower down the ladder.
  12. These are funny! I can't tell if it's Tim Vine or Bernard Manning - where did they come from?
  13. I've got a really bad knee and limping. This is how I think we'll get to the prem. When I think about it, I rarely enjoyed watching us in the top flight - always too stressful, just like it is when we're on the verge of getting there again! In fact, thinking about it, being a football fan is basically depressing. Maybe I feel this way because I stayed up til 4am to watch the game. Oh dear. I'm unhappy.
  14. What about beer strategy? Have a few before turning in at midnight, or hit the beers at 2:30? If we got the win, I would find it difficult to turn in straight away. Why couldn't this be a lunch time KO FFS?!?!?!
  15. I signed up and watched that - thanks (I was doubly annoyed as I put $5 on Saints 2-1 !!!!). I wondered what everyone's strategy is for the Middlesrough game, think it kicks off 2.30am. Stay up and write off Sunday, risking falling asleep before it starts? Get an early night and wake up at 2 - bit too early even by Ozzie standards. Or maybe just the usual, sign in first thing and see what the score is - at least the UK crowd will still be awake if all goes our way!
  16. Shirts 3, Skins 1 - they were saying "Same again next week, chaps!"
  17. Well, it's a scooter, so no windows - it is red, white and black however. I'll try your approach next time, but I think my idea of a transparent sticker over the brake light has got legs!!
  18. Well, the foam hands are going to make brake and throttle control very difficult. Turkish, do you supply Saints badge rear light transfers?
  19. The quiz pages were quite fun back then (should I say 'back in the day'- should I frick!). Press 'Reveal'
  20. Verdict: LB was probably acting like a **** with a load of beers around him. A cheeky tw4t acted like a c^nt and grabbed the beer out of his mouth. LB got Estee Lauder as a result of his bird with not much up top watching. Sentence: You're just like hundreds of lads your age doing the same thing every weekend, mind you geezah's a boxer and can handle himeself, nevertheless you're a tawt, and so are all the others who do what you do - 200 hours community service.
  21. As I was scootering though Boondall, North Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, a car with a saints badge in the back window was indicating to merge, and I duly obliged to let them in. Because the car was driving quite slowly, I needed to overtake. As I did, I wanted to indicate solidarity. I thought of shouting 'Úp the Saints' or some such as I went by, but thought that may be interpreted as agressive. I then thought of holding 3 fingers then 1 up with my non throttle hand in order to indicate our most recent, unfortunate, result, but that may have meant I was a skate taking the mickey. I considered drawing an imaginary halo round my head, but, again, the driver may have thought I was making aspertions about his mental state. Is there any clearly defined, uncomplicated hand gesture which could identify us Saints with each other on the road? I wish I had my Saints shirt on, then I would've let the driver of the white Micra know!! (At least that would mean there would probably mean one less car driver trying to kill me!!!)
  22. Chesterfield. I have nothing against this club, but on a scan of the 92 teams, they stuck out - not to say they haven't had any intersting times! http://www.chesterfield-fc.co.uk/page/History/0,,10435~1053686,00.html
  23. If a bloke (in the future) were to ask permission from me to marry his daughter, I'd think he'd be a nice, if slightly weird, guy and I would duly give my 'permission'. If my daughter told me she was getting married I would be very happy for her, hoping to have had met the bloke a few times and checked him out, knowing full well that if I tried to prevent any marriage, I would push her away from me. In any case, did all you noble traditionalist ask FiL's permission to bang her brains out the first time, or has pre-marital virginity suddenly taken over?
  24. They don't need hairdressers any more, but cheesemakers are in demand, go figure. Anyway, if you spend about $120 on a payg smart phone, you'll still be able to make controversial posts from the top of a mango tree - it's not like we're on the other side of the world!!
  25. Over here, my experience is that is all about who you know. If you haven't already, check out the overseas boards here and if someone wants to vouch for you, it will be easy. (If I had any real contacts, I would let you know, but I don't) Having said that, you're probably only looking for bar type work and you seem fairly confident in yourself, so I imagine just strolling up to a few bars would get you something quickish. I sold lotto tickets to UK & US when I first got here - if you want to start at 4am and finish at 12 for a decent wage, that's an option. Mind you, most temp jobs seem to pay 15-20 an hour, which is outstanding. If you want to see the country, there's plenty of fruitpicking type stuff up here in QLD and you can always do chugging in the city! It seems to me that most of this type of work is done by overseas types (eg dishing out free newspapers), so there must be websites for this kind of thing. It felt much longer, but it took 10 weeks for me to get full time employment when I arrrived in 2009, so to pick up casual work should be a lot easier. Buy a payg mobile for about $40 to make sure you're available and go to McD's to check the web. Most of all, make sure you can get a referee from somewhere local to where ever you're going!
