  1. Well, I'm just about to sign my (Australian) kids into Futsal for the off season. I didn't realise it was so different. I am even considering joining the seniors group. It is interesting going over those stories from the dark days - we really were easy to have the p 1 55 taken out of us. Carousel. Clowns. etc. Those days are gone. Fuggeddaboddit. Forward Forza Saints!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. Well, 3 different manors, I suppose. Gor blimey, you're having a giraffe with your spelling, geezah!
  3. To love is as costly as the morning sun... However, I can't get over the fact that the average teenager gets $19 hour for working in a supermarket/delivering pizza over here (in Oz). This works out at about £35K annually. The average 'adult' wage is only a little bit higher - about £42K. 'Tradies' earn £70K, in the mining industry (not necessarily down the mines) £100K. Rents are about 1.75 times UK, but wverything else is about the same price
  4. John Motson. Trevor Brooking. Staunchion. Jumpers for goalposts.
  5. It's true that by phoning a company - especially a debt collecting company - you feel you have 'done' something. Whilst THEY may have a recording of the conversation, you've got jack. What normally happens is that the corporate 'nice' companies sell the debt on to a bunch of shysters and from that point, you have to deal with shysters using threatening language (as per above). If you get a nasty letter from a corporate, write one back, sign it, keep a copy of the signed response and copyitto the Chief Executive of the Corporation. If you geta letter from a debt subcontractor, phone them, tell them they're wrong and confirm the conversation in writing - copy it to the Cheif Executive of the originating corporate. When dealing with debt collection companies, DO NOT assume that a phone call will make the problem go away!
  6. I think she's cool. She's obviously healthy, despite being a tad overweight. She'll only get better at the poledancing lark Go, girlfriend!
  7. Suncorp - pick me! pick me! (Qld based, with community values). Ok, I work for them also, but.
  8. I would just like to add further fear and misery by saying 'Remember Sheff U'. Ten or twelve straight wins from the start, I think. Scraped into the playoffs at the end. Didn't get promoted.
  9. A very interesting article - thanks trousers. Lots of repitions of the 'capitalist elite' - surely the author means 'liberal elite' Dune? Her 'attack' wasn't just economic, she did really try and crush 'collectives' - unions, battle of the beanfield, poll tax etc. She was 'lucky' with the Falklands. I don't think I hate her now as much as I did then, but I think I hate her smarmy apparatchiks from that time even more.
  10. Yes, I want figures over the last 2,5 and 10 years on my desk by Wednesday,
  11. Did they spot any freeze dried curry up there?
  12. Like it. It looks a bit corny coz dear old Marcus looked a bit corny. One of the reasons I and probably most of us liked the guy - corny, but honest and with a smile on his face!
  13. I always enjoyed the Elephant and the Oxford (Arms?), also that tiddy place on the road island. Even the Wetherspoons is goodish. Then to buy some herbal tea. How many times did I end up smoking rosehip frickin tea!?!?
  14. Hamster, were you deliberately making a reference to the Hinge and Bracket show, which no-one ever remembers and has never been repeated, ever, coz it was ****e? Somewhere between The Black and White Minstrel Show, The Goodies, It's a Knockout, The Two Ronnies, Terry and June and Dr Who, but much worse than any of those?
  15. Should be nice and warm by then. The daytime in the winter is fab, but it is cold early morning. I'm sick of wearing 4 layers on my m/c ride to work! August will be cold also, so September is the best month to arrive. If you don'thave family then live close to the CBD, otherwise further out is best for kids (eg Redcliffe where I am or Cleveland/Redlands which is where quite a few Brisvegas Saints live)
  16. It sounds like it was a good day. Depends what you want from the 'club'. Even if I had lived anywhere near Southampton in the past 15 years, I doubt if I could have gone, much as I would have liked to. I applaud the club for putting this on - facrissakes, we've got a club and a team - that's much better than 2 years ago!?!?!
  17. Hear, hear lettuce. Scat-Chat will bring us all together! Seriously, I also never knew 'standers' existed, the mere concept of it has turned my world upside down, and all thanks to TSW. Needless to say, there is ample reference material in the Viz archive - which I keep in the bog of course.
  18. Well, her 'bland dinner party' music (good description) paved the way for a raft of similar-ish female vocalists to make their mark. Particularly Adele who seems more talented, more fun and much more successful. Also, not afraid of a pie or two. Maybe Winehouse saw what she could have been. Anyway, I'm guessing she didn't mean to do herself in, it just goes with the drug taking territory.
  19. Do 'Standers' need to have a back, sack and crack job done? Just a short closing of the cheeks prior to wiping causes awful wing nuts in my case, so definitely a sitter. Like many others, my favourite place is the bog and I spend a number of hours per day there, according to The Valkyrie.
  20. "Life's sh i t" and then you die - always makes me chuckle.
  21. The morning after snack from the local Happy Shopper is always going to be pork pie, cheese and onion crisps and banana milkshake. If for some reason pork pies are not available, it may be necessary to take up the Scotch(ed? - dunno) egg option. Invariably, the case is dry and it is like having a bowl of sawdust to the hungover mouth. However, judicious use of the banana milkshake can make it a perfectly acceptable hangover treatment. BTW - Quorn is fine - no ligaments to lick around.
  22. Vegemite
  23. I am weeping with happiness. There must be a public holiday declared!
  24. Glad Gecko has got involved, but I think his image is too complex for a flag. I also think the current favourite is ok, but the colouring doesn't seem right - too much red (as already said). The scallys' pictures had some stylised images of KD. Maybe the way to go - focus on the teeth?? The glasses?? As with everyone else, don't want us to look like a bunch of amateur tossers with their heart in the right place. Another idea is to bung the money at a pro design company and have NC pay for the actual production of the best design. Not sure 4k would get us a lot of design work tho.
  25. Wow. I'm going to vote for 1976, because I believe I have seen him undertake some self examination and be slightly prepared for the existence of opinions other than his own.
