  1. "The Bales, the Walcotts, the Chambos..." Am I the only one who can't stand this ridiculous pluralisation that seems to be a prevalent within the world of football these days? "The Bales.....", just how many Bales did we produce? Have we got any more on the books?
  2. Excellent news. Has also played right back and left back for Lyon so he also offers some versatility. Very happy. CB was our posirion in most need of prioritising for improvement and we've done it, and done it early. Well done SFC. A top striker next and the squad is really starting to take shape.
  3. I like Lefty a lot, he's a class act. Him on the 17th in the Ryder Cup against Justin Rose summed him up. Classy man, and a superb player. Hoping that Luuuuuuuuuuuuuke can stay amongst it and win through. Short course which should suit him; but its the US Open so anything can happen.
  4. I rarely have a bet but I'm well into the golf, I'll be watching all the way until close tonight. 15 years ago I had a job teaching golf in Philadelphia at a kids golf academy, and lived a 5 minute walk from Merion. Its an unbelievable course, the TV pictures don't actually do it justice, I was blown away by it.
  5. I'd prefer it if we bought Rangers as our feeder club.
  6. Diamond White or K mixed with Castaway made a Blastaway; tasted just like Lilt. Ben Sherman shirt with white jeans, and a floppy curtains haircut; oh yes, them were the days.
  7. Ah, Martines on a Thursday night. The halcyon days.
  8. Not everyone did, it would seem. I guess the urge to criticise a media outlet for not saying that more than 1 player of a team that finished 14th in the league are the top ten player in their position in that league was a little too much.
  9. I found this far funnier than I should have.
  10. Its known as the Alpine effect.
  11. When a striker such as Andy Carroll goes for £35M it makes an utter mockery of the transfer market and makes it a bit irrelevant to make too many comparisons. Especially when you consider that Michu was bought for £2m, which highlights just how completely ludicrously priced young English talent is rated at the moment.

  13. Yes Adrian. It definitely "makes sense". There's no other reason for signing an international player for £3.5M and deeming him not good enough to play instead of Calamity Hooiveld. The signing without any doubt definitely "makes sense". Thankfully the club takes a similar long term planning policy as an up-your-own-backside-thinking-individual such as yourself, and cannot see any fault with it. Like you say, it totally "makes sense" to sign an international player of 25 years age, and not play him. Not even for one minute of the season. It makes sense to do that. Of course it does. A 25 year old WANTS to be on the bench. I'm glad the club thinks that, and hopefully for the next few years, and not the next few months like most fans. What do they know, eh?? Ha ha ha. Count me in with you, Aids. It makes sense.
  14. I believe Ramirez has the same agent as Guly and for next season the agent is negoyiating to tie it into a 70/20 clause for the pair of them. SFC are obviously tied in to Gaston's 70 minute clause, nothing they can do to change that, but from what my ITK sources tell me they're not keen on extending the terms of Guly's current 15 minute clause.
  15. Neal Bartlett for local boy? Cant see it would be much a feature, mind you. So probably not.
  16. So what's the answer if Liverpool say "you know what, Southampton have got a satellite academy; we'd quite like to set one of those up, please"? Is the answer "yes, sure"? Or if its "no", are we allowed to keep ours simply because, well, we've had it for some time now?
  17. God he was sh*t. he wasn't even really a right back, he was a midfielder converted to play full back. Terrible.
  18. Not really. As we're a top status academy we're not subject to the 90 minute rule any more, so it would extremely easy to prove that we have a distinct advantage over other clubs by having two academy bases.
  19. I'm not sure where you've got the idea from that I think we're unique in that respect. We're not at all, and I wouldn't be at all surprised to see the satellite academy withdrawn.
  20. Yes, you've missed the rules. Clubs are typically only allowed to have one academy, based at their home club. And they've previously been limited to only being able attract kids from within a 90 minute driving time. To combat the fact that half our catchment area is the Channel we were allowed an extra satellite academy. It's that right that now could be removed.
  21. Where do you stop? Population size? In terms of location Swansea are at a considerable disadvantage to the major conurbations. The new academy system is already massively loaded in favour of bigger clubs, so Brizzle have got a very fair grievance about us or any other club having a satellite academy in their locale.
  22. What on earth do you think gives you the right to dictate his funeral arrangements? Your advice to the previous poster of "keeping your nose out of matters that are not of your concern" ring rather large here.
  23. Which part gave it away?
  24. We're off there in late July. 3 nights in Armacao de Pera, 7 nights in a villa in Porches. Group of 9 of us with 3 very young kids; any recommendations?
