  1. I'm fairly relieved about that. I don't think he'd have added much to the squad. There are better AM options available IMO. Plus if there was no option to buy then we'd just be loaning a Spurs player to make him better for them. I'm hoping, if the Grujic loan comes off, there's an option or even obligation. Although if he's good enough to improve the first XI then a loan without a purchase option isn't so bad I guess. I agree with Verlaine though, Diallo, Grujic and say one of the Arsenal young talents (OK, any decent AM) would be perfect and make for an exciting season.
  2. I was going to put Chilwell in my team next week when I have two transfers to use (as I have to cheap out on another defender to do it). Wish I'd been able to do it this week. Goal and assist already. Chelsea have started the season a bit stutteringly (if that's a word) but it seems they're getting up to speed for us next week. I still think they're a top centre back away from being a title-winning team but they must be a lot closer this season if all the signings gel quickly. Certainly it could be their year next season. No Loftus-Cheek today though...
  3. It's a shame he has two L's in his surname or D-I-S-C-O by Ottawan would work... 🙈
  4. Good age, not much to go on in the stats department but we need a CM so we can only hope he's a hidden gem rather than a cheap panic buy. His attributes (as oppose to his match statistics) seem decent and he's been linked to Leicester and Arsenal which is a positive. He's a Monaco youngster so has decent pedigree. I hope he's better than the last signing we got from there though! If more than 50% of Saintsweb posters are happy with it, then I'm happy with it. 😀 Just another AM and we look OK strengthwise.
  5. So we're going to get some deadline day action for a change? 😁
  6. Yep. Sessegnon played against us in the FA Cup third round in January 2018 and a certain out of position, almost untried Jan Bednarek played right back and kept him in his pocket. Yes there was a League between us, but we were crapola under Pellegrino and they were on their way to promotion. I don't think Sess would be a bad signing, and would certainly strengthen left back and cover Redmond's position, but I feel there are both more pressing issues with other positions, and I would hope there are better AM options than him available too. It would definitely have to be a loan with an option if we were to get him, it would make me feel dirty loaning a Spurs player, making him better and sending him back to strengthen them.
  7. I said a while ago, if Salisu proves to be decent, then Vestergaard is fine as a 4th choice CB if we can’t sell him. He’s clearly better than Danso as 4th choice which is what we had last season. That stat was from Sky. So maybe it meant first top flight win at Turf Moor since 1971 and I misheard.
  8. First win at Turf Moor since 1971, was sort of watching it at work, looked scrappy, hard fought, scuffy goal, but what a win to kick start the season. I'd have said we'd be on 3 or 4 points after 3 games, but I did think the win would be against Palace not Burnley. Now Ralph and co, please go out and strengthen the squad!
  9. Squeeky bum time?
  10. I was going to say it didn't look like him at first with the mask on, but then I looked at his most recent Instagram pic and it does look like him now. However looking at his Insta led me to look at his girlfriend's Insta and, well, it's taken me 3 hours and an ice pack on my forearm before I could type this post. 😁 (That is not true.) I also hate myself for calling it Insta.
  11. Palace didn't have most of their first choice back line and we still stuffed that up! 😉 I hope things can be different against Burnley otherwise the League table will not be looking good even at this early stage.
  12. Compulsory purchase would be amazing and he's effectively off our books forever.
  13. Interesting that he wouldn't be our first Cape Verdean player! I bet there are a lot of nationalities more populous than that which we've not had two of... Sounds interesting though. We need a player to come in and be miraculously very good. I sort of thought we were getting that with Djenepo...
  14. We normally struggle against Burnley but I have a weird feeling we will get a point or points against them this time. We need to, the sooner we get something on the board the better, or confidence will be knocked and, while the board kept faith in Ralph last season after the result that shall not be mentioned, they may get itchy trigger fingers before long. I hope not as I still think Ralph is the best manager we could hope for - he just needs a bit more backing in the transfer market. A CM and another AM would be great, add another CB to that and it would be perfect.
  15. Brendan and Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha on walkie talkies could almost enact a scene from Airplane. Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha: "Which player do you want? Over." Brendan: "Under. Over." Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha: "Under? Done." <<<SNSUN gets coat.>>>
  16. Nice are looking to sell Wylan Cyprien. He was linked with us a few years back, under Puel I think. He's a 'goal-scoring' defensive midfielder. Had a bad injury over a year ago but came back from that. Linked with Bordeaux amongst others and was linked with Newcastle and Arsenal in the Prem in more recent times. Could be a shout.
  17. They've signed quality older players but with little foresight for the future. Not that Ancelotti will care. I still think they are weak defensively and neither C-L or Richarlison are Ings-prolific. They'll have a decent season but I still don't see them breaking the top 6 which is what they want. Still Everton, Wolves and Leicester are all above us in terms of quality. Newcastle have done good business too. We will do very well to break top ten. Already think WBA and Fulham will have long seasons and West Ham really needed to win yesterday as their next few fixtures are tough.
  18. We definitely need a creative midfielder that can unlock a defence. Armstrong seemed to be a big miss yesterday. Let’s hope our home form is better than last season and we can stuff Palace at St Mary’s.
  19. Get flucking Ings on! This is shite. I’ve never really rated Southgate and I still don’t
  20. Sure they may do OK this season but do they have enough to break into the top 6 which is what they really want? Defensively no for me, even if they get Tomori. And signing ageing players with little resale value isn't exactly planning for the future if Ancelotti gets fed up and leaves. We shall see though. There's bound to be a surprise package. Newcastle have been quiet going about their business in a sensible fashion for once. Lewis for the future, Fraser and Wilson to boost their attack and Hendrick all for less than Joelinton cost last season. And with Saint Maximin and Almiron pulling the strings, they should have a decent season.
  21. He'd better keep away from Roy Keane-esque players then unlike his dad. He was born in England, while he was probably always destined to play for Norway, it's a shame we couldn't get him to play for us. He would have provided us with even better attacking options than we already have and could have challenged the undroppable Kane for focal point of the attack.
  22. I'm in the keep Boufal camp. It's a long season and from what we've seen of Djenepo, he has ability to pick up knocks and things. Boufal has talent (though we've rarely seen it) and whilst he isn't currently threatening Redmond or Armstrong, he's a good player to have in the squad especially for cup games. £3.5 million is peanuts, unless we can bring in a senior player for similar money (or miraculously more) then I'd be keeping Boufal for this season and let him go on a free at the end of the season. Sims and Hesketh aren't the answer and Ferry and Tella are untested. Ok as 5th choice maybe but not 4th. Unless the idea is to sign Balogun and go balls out attack! In Ralph we trust I guess.
  23. I was going to say... shame we're not away to Brentford and fans can already do a new ground... then remembered the times we live in!
  24. West Ham fans on KUMB are a bit cross over the Diangana sale, I read it as they believe GSB are asset stripping them. Anderson may soon be off to Arsenal too on a cheap loan. They're not exactly blessed with attacking options and yet Moyes wants to strengthen Central Defence which for me, a non-fan looking in, is possibly their strongest position after Rice and Soucek in midfield. Crazy club...and there was me tipping them to have a decent season! Watch Chelsea swoop for Rice late in the window...
  25. SNSUN

    Alfie Jones

At 23 I'm not surprised. He's not going to play here so may as well get some money for him and throw it on the (seemingly small) pile. Good luck to him.
