Manés control is very good. Looks sometimes like he's stumbling over but then retains the ball even under a challenge. Stekelenburgs kicking has been good too.

Watching a fairly stable stream. Few mistakes and incohesion but only to be expected as our first full game of the season. Thought the earlier triple chance was in. A goal before half time be nice. X

Be interesting to see how the Clasie/Wanyama pairing works. Attacking wise we do look very strong. Davis needs to find a bit more form than he had at times last year though in order to keep his place. A few good games from Targett, now he's starting the season as temporary first choice, and I'm sure there'll be the usual links to big clubs in the tabloids...

Gutted I can't be there tonight, I would be but am on a course at work which is keeping me away this week. I can't get to a pub either so I'm hoping there's a working stream somewhere, bloody BT. Anyway fingers crossed we have a decent first leg. Our ultimate goal in this competition should be at least to get to the group stages, but no foreign team should be taken for granted. Saints of the 90s were signing players from the lower leagues or Premier League teams' youngsters/back up players in the hope they would come good, a la Dryden, Evans, Neilson, Beattie. Caulker is a Premier League centre back, who has been playing regularly and is just 23. And... It's a low risk loan. I'm reasonably happy with this transfer. Makes sense. Bring in VVD and we will be very strong at the back as we were last season. (Bertrand injury aside)

Links like Chambers smacks of panic stations. I'm confident Koeman has his first choice identified, and is trying hard to bring him in. We haven't been the sort to panic sign players of late.

I'd bring in one top CB yo replace Toby/partner Fonte, have Yoshida as senior cover for those two, and have Stephens/Turnbull as 4th choice. They'll need experience sometime. Then bring in one more DM, and perhaps a winger/striker to add to squad strength, and we'll be there IMO.

I wouldn't dream of giving Liverpool any of their misspent money back. I'd rather play Alpine in defence than give them money back for Lovren. Seriously his confidence is rock bottom, doubts are surely raised as to whether he can reach SFC highs again. There would be better options out there, not that he's a bad player...

So Arsene has a transfer kitty of £200 million. He's been linked with Benzema and Lewandowski, both would be cracking signings if they get them. Does anyone think they might renew their interest in Big Vic?

Been most impressed with Pardew's dealings at Palace, I reckon they could have a really good season. They've strengthened their spine brilliantly with Cabaye, Bamford and (soon) McCarthy, and are after Williams from Swansea which would be an interesting one. Not to mention getting Dann to sign a new contract and the fact they still have Bolasie and Zaha.

There's a rival site? Does it cost a fiver? Can I swear on it? I would like to see Tomas Pekhart on the banner. For the lols.

One thing I've noticed from the games I've seen so far is how happy Rodriguez is to be playing football again. Big smiles all over his face. His third goal yesterday was taken with aplomb. I'm so pleased he's back to full fitness and with him I reckon we'll score bags of goals this year. I daren't even think about next summer and where he'll be plying his trade come transfer window time...
