I was watching SSN too. When Lambert scored his third? I turned the TV and radio off and I jumped straight in the shower. (To get ready for a night out, not because I didn't bear hearing what happened after that.)

Right, first thing's first, I'm not looking for negativity, nor do I expect this to stay on the main board for too long before it gets shipped off to General Sports. AND I'm just in from a night out. But... Paul Merson has to be the most CR-P pundit ever. Not just on British sports television, but ever. Now, perhaps he suffers from having the articulate Matthew Le Tissier sat next to him, but it wasn't even just a case of not knowing a player's name today. I know his incompetency has been reported in the past, but he was on form yesterday. Firstly was Lamberts' opener. He was watching OUR game live - but he didn't know who Schneiderlin was, so he just said "...and it was set up by a great run by...umm...umm...let's say Liana." So not only did he get the player wrong, or he cared not to try and say his name, but the player he chose to mention? Yep, got his name wrong too. And? Sorry for this point, frivolity on my part, but he reported the goal as if it was the first of a thrashing. Millwall's first? An own goal. By Hooverd, apparently. He has the benefit of replays. Millwall's second? The first of the two goals I believe he got right yesterday. A cracking shot. Southampton's second? He got this right too, mainly because MLT was cheering his arse off next to him, although had Sharp struck it first time, we wouldn't be having this conversation. (Yes, I believe had Sharp had his full killer instinct he'd have sunk it first time) Our third? 'Shouldn't have been given because a Southampton player handled it'. Now granted, at full speed, it was tough to say, but that's how the ref saw it, and the ref saw it at full speed. Merse has the benefit of replays in the studio. And, while watching the replays, he maintained a Southampton player handled it. (Apparently in summarising the game he said both were penalties, and he regains credit for that.) Now I'm not on a witch hunt, nor do I expect SSN to allow MLT to cover a Saints game due to bias, but it seems to me Merson is a terrible, terrible pundit. What do you reckon? (Incidentally, for those of you that were actually watching SSN, did you see Kamara try and say the Watford players' name? ' Kačaniklić' became Kacananaclic, and the SSN lot were in hysterics. Why do they employ these people?)

...and that's TIME! 4 hattricks this season for Lambert - no hangover to the POTS award.

Hey all, I'm a johnnycomelately today! Just clicked on the scores and thought it was too good to be true, until West Ham just scored. Come on SaintS!
-
I have the final table as: Saints: Played 46, GD 46, Points 92 West Ham: PLayed 46, GD 21 Points 80 Reading: Played 46, GD 14 Points 79 ...and believe it or not, I was being generous to everyone! Even losing four of our games would still put us on 80 with a better goal difference. I think 15+ points could do it.

Fantastic result for Reading tonight, picking up a point at in form Doncaster. That confirms it, we're going to blow it and end up in the play-offs. I'm going to put my entire wedding fund on West Ham and Reading getting auto promotion. (There, that aught to buy us the Championship.)

YAY DONNY!
-
Come on Donny!!!
-
TalkSPort still saying Donny are 1-0 up. I wish they were the FA...
-
Well naked Billy Sharp didn't work...
-
Come on Doncaster! Do you w00t? Do you post pictures of nuns? Do you respond to lucky smokes? Does punching a parrot help? Well that's our traditions. Here's a picture for you.
-
If Reading fail to win this, it would be a massive result. Confidence dented and they'd still have two away games to go until they can get back to the relative safety of the Mad Stad. An away win to Millwall will be a massive result for us on Saturday.

Anything like this is only worth what other Saints fans view as sentimental value. Stick it on eBay, people will buy anything on there, but if I owned a chair from the Dell, I'd keep it as my little slice of Saints history - unless it cluttered up the place, then I'd use it to batter TCWTB over the head.

Glad I didn't bet on that race. That was a good race for the each way fans. Ironically I'm going for Oscars Well in the 3.20 because it's the name of my dog - my other dog is called Alfie. So perhaps it's fate! Right, off to work. Good luck guys, I'm about £20 up today, which is pretty good for me.
-
The analyst before the race said that Cue Card is prone to making mistakes, fortunately (for me) it was Al Ferof that made the mistake. I'm not betting on this next race but I'd have Hold On Julio if I were betting.
-
I usually go each way on races, as I did we with Cue Card - so I can celebrate again at getting a place!!! It's a shame I have to go to work in a minute - I'm on a run of form the likes I've only once experienced before! Ha!
-
Cheers - as much as I love betting on the gee gees, I'm bloody awful at it. That was a one off for the festival. 2.05 - Cue Card, but I'm not having a bet. Edit: I succombed to temptation. Come on Cue Card! One more bet for the day in the 3.20 - Oscars Well e/w
-
GET IN!!!!!!! That's it, I'm not betting for the rest of the Festival!!!
-
Oh God it's that time of the year when I find myself more skint than ever. I'm off to work in an hour, so can only bet on the first couple of races. 1:30 Galileos Choice to win, although my bet is an each way on Cinders and Ashes.

Which league? I reckon if you say Championship 17th for the next 100 years, you might be right eventually. I reckon we'll be fighting relegation, but fortunately there are 5 worse clubs than us in the Premier League. Still, it will have been a good season, thanks to winning the Carling cup and beating Man Utd 6-3.
-
If that's the situation, I'm going to **** my pants, then change them, then **** in those pants too. I sincerely hope it doesn't end up that close - it would be lovely to get an advantage before the last game of the season, but unless West Ham or Reading tail off somehow, I can see it being that close too.

Do I miss smoking in pubs? Yes, principally because I'm lazy by nature and preferred not to have to get up and go outside to smoke. Do I support the smoking ban? Yes. Sat in a booth smoking, I used to practically chain smoke. Now I rarely get up to go outside, and I feel better for it. The non-smokers in my friendship group are still suffering though, as the smokers (which is most of us) will go outside for a fag, end up chatting away, leaving the non-smokers inside twiddling their thumbs. (The smoking lot are the conversationalists of my friendship group.) As for pubs closing, it's a shame. The one next door to me has closed down, although the one down the road is thriving. Most people I know (including me) forego going to a pub and instead use chain bars with cheaper alcohol. Also, When I walk into a local pub that I hardly go in, I get stared down by the regulars that don't know me, almost as if they were thinking "what are you doing in my pub". In bars, nobody bats an eyelid. I feel more comfortable in bars. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to become a regular in my local, but as I can't drink the day before work, AND I do shiftwork, so I can't really commit to a regular drink, so don't get to know the regulars, and as such I tend to go on the odd binge in town, in the bars and clubs instead. Who knows, perhaps it's the social side of pubs. With distractions like TV, Internet, Games Consoles and cheap drink at home, and the fact that strangers don't communicate between each other as much as they used to, maybe that's why pubs are suffering.

Talking of Lambert...they must be kicking themselves now...
SNSUN replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/h/huddersfield_town/8130763.stm They may be gutted, but they stuck to their principles in terms of finances. We're just lucky to have had Mr Liebherr's millions to help us out. Also, had Lambert joined, it could have meant Jordan Rhodes could never have come through. Rhodes has scored bucket loads too - so missing out on Lambert hasn't dented their scoring chances, it's the rest of the team that needed surgery. Finally, some footballers don't suit some clubs - who's to say Lambert would have had the same effect there than he's had here. We'll never know, and we don't have to care, because he's ours, he's happy, and we're happy!
