We score a poo result, and thankfully West Ham also pull out a poo result. We must keep up the home form though. Lambert and Chaplow being out, arguably our two best players this season, show the fragility of the squad attacking-wise, but we should still hope the players fielded do their bit too. I'm not too disheartened, surprisingly as we lost to the bottom side at the start of the day, but it does highlight the need to sign a striker in the January window. Guly is a good player, but is better playing off a striker, something we lacked in the starting XI. De Ridder will come good, but needs time. Get December over with as many points as we can achieve, and let's see what we can conjure up in the window. We'll relinquish top eventually, but I hope we can keep an auto spot for ourselves for as long as possible. (I thought Bristol City were going to do us a favour today, but hey ho.)

Today shows why we should have signed James Beattie
SNSUN replied to Paul Chuckle's topic in The Saints
Beattie? No thanks. Adkins should've heeded my advice in January, and signed a less well known, cheaper Jordan Rhodes from Huddersfield. We'll regret that one. Blips will come along, I have no doubt Adkins is looking for a striker in the January window. -
All right chaps, have I missed anything? Oh.

Group B will make good viewing for neutrals. May still need a TV at our reception....
-
Yessssssssssss! Not in Group B! I bloody love Van Basten! Fairly easy group for England.

Whatever happened to pulling a ball out of a bag! Stupid idea.

I think, I think, it's about to happen after the Gary Speed tribute.

You nailed it with the Eurovision comment Johnny! Bloody awful, and what is up with the singer's hair? Or voice!?
-
As per the Beeb, yes.

You need some seriously strong leg muscles, or a springy bellend, to dance like that. Now get on with the draw ffs.

Wedding has been relocated to Peru. Meet you all at Jorge Chavez International airport at 7am on the 8th.>>

Pretty confident of a win knowing El Hadji Diouf and Chimbonda are out for them. Winning this and the Blackpool game would set us up nicely for the Skates.

Problem..Had a letter through the post..

I'm a bender. I'll pick it up for you. -
Avoid Group B for England please, my wedding is June 9th!

Nope, he's a Fulham season ticket holder.

Me. Remember reading about the "biggest penis in the world"? Yours truly. (And yes, I am massive cock too.)

Great news. Now bulk buy Adomah, Maynard and Fontaine from Bristol City and we're all set!

Everybody find as many leftover Euros as possible - they'll be worth Eff all before long anyway...

It's also not necessarily about the points Saints get, but how much our rivals slip up. West Ham will push us all the way (or vice versa), but it'd do us a great favour if Leicester, Boro, Birmingham, Cardiff and whoever else drop silly points.

Based on our League position? No. There's more important things to concentrate on. Palace have different aims to us this season - and besides, they'll only get tonked in the final if they make it that far anyway. The FA Cup - that's a different kettle of fish, but not the League Cup. Next season, if we make it back to the Premiership, then give it a crack. The League Cup does need re-vamping though - God knows how, but most managers use it as a chance to blood squad players or youth. Perhaps a better reward at the end of it or better financial incentives.

Was set in the Kingsland centre on the back row below the camera stand - Saints scored, I jumped up and my back scraped across the sign the juts out back there. Got home to find a mahoosive bruise. Worth it.

I worry a bit about the latter part of the season, but then I think of the January transfer window and it makes me feel all right. I'd be VERY surprised if we didn't strengthen, especially given our lofty position and prospective draw for players.
-
There's no reason for re-writing the past, so why bother. There's also no guarantee that Rickie and Fonte would have constituted a win, nor that our result would have been anything like Palace's had we eventually got through. Stop beating yourself up over it, none of us really care about the Carling Cup - when you're in first place in the League, the main priority has to be promotion.

A great talent although his goalscoring needs work - but he's destined for big things. Bristol City bleat on about Maynard 'only joining a Premiership team' but he's far more realistic a signing for us. I like Zaha though, better than Victor Moses, although both are exciting to watch.
