While I didn't see the Palace League Cup game, I reckon that we'd have had a chance of winning that with the team we put out, but if we had better strikers in reserve. I think a few of the youngsters could be lining the bench on Saturday. Initially I straight away agreed with the OP, to put out the full first eleven, but then I think about the reason for our poor form, and the players are knackered. Drop Lallana for sure, the three CM's are ok because they rotate anyway, Guly deserves a rest but we may need his creativity, and I'd argue about resting Jos but I don't think we have a replacement. Frazer can rest if Butterfield is fit. The big question is Bart. I trust him.

Crawley Town are trying to sign Rudi Skacel from Hearts. They'll have a hell of a wait on their hands.

Gabby Yorath, get yer vag out. lolz To be fair, I've never minded her at all, I remember a good 15 years or so ago I saw her on They Think It's All Over - and she seemed very knowledgeable then and had a fun streak.

Rickie was a fat lad before Adkins got hold of him. As an ex-physio, he's also more capable of dealing with crocks too. If we swoop for Commons, which I don't think we will anyway, I fully support it.

I'd sell him at that price (and even as low as £7million), but only if his replacement(s) were bloody good. When we bought him, other teams didn't bid for him because they were concerned about his resale value. Getting £10 million for him is stupid money, and I would take it. Trouble is, it would disrupt a fantastic season, and we may well find ourselves having another season in this league. I doubt Adkins would sell though, even for that money - he knows how much we fans adore Rickie.

The team hasn't gone shyte overnight, everyone has shyte form, and we have ours, but we massively overachieved with a small squad. Now it's January, and we're in prime position to bring players in. This result was arse, but it doesn't reflect on who's better than who.

I think it didn't help that the strikers struggled to keep up with him. If De Ridder is going to get games, it highlights the need for a pacy forward to be brought in. That said IF a pacy forward gets brought in, it's most likely De Ridder that will lose his spot. Swings and roundabouts. At least we know who our bogey team are now.

Now home. I was going to start a Steve De Ridder thread but I won't, however he was fantastic tonight - easily our best attacking player, and he looked very dangerous running at the Brizzle defence. He got stuck in too, and I disagree with Adkins - the boy can cross. Not as well as Frazer, granted, but his crosses were still good tonight. I would still look to sign a winger in January (left or right sided), but if De Ridder can keep up this level of performance then he'll be a big asset in the last half of the season. Worst Saints player on the night was unfortunately Adam. I'm a massive fan of his but nothing came off for him, even in the first half when he had the chance to strike on goal he looked to pass it - that's not the Adam of earlier in the season/last season. While it's bloody hard to drop a player of Adam's talent, it does look like he should sit a game or two out to gain some rest, BUT there's the question of who could come in to replace him. When Holmes came on he was playing right back (most baffling), but perhaps he could get a run on the left wing for a bit? Or do we simply play Adam until he plays himself into form? As I said earlier the transfer window has come at the right time, but Nigel cannot procrastinate - it's a busy month and we need reinforcements sooner rather than later. The players we have have done admirably so far this season, but fatigue is surely settling in. Freshening it up will make for a strong end to the season.

Now parked up and waiting for the traffic to disperse. Shame the home run is over but I stayed to clap the guys at the end, it's still been a magnificent year. Tonight was fairly even but Bristol City took their chance. Steve and Morgan were our best players on the night, Guly and Adam were poor tonight. Fraser the better of the full backs, Martin was fairly solid.Quite simply, the window has come at just the right time.
