  1. Seemed to be someone who always tried. Looking at his stats, he has never scored more than 8 goals in the league in a season, which as a CF isn't quite good enough.
  2. I'm fickle, and happy being so. Walking away from SMS on Sunday, I had a lightness in my step and a grin on my face. Something that hasn't happened for a very long time. I don't enjoy it coming away feeling despondent, something that we have all been feeling far too much for far too long.
  3. Goalkeeper merry go round? Or DM BS? Look at the top and see what's what. De Gea goes to someone, ManU get Pickford, Everton need a goalie. Spurs might need a replacement at some stage, as Lloris is possibly a bit out of favour. Liverpool and Chelsea spent £130m between them. Man City buy the most expensive so wouldn't look to us I wouldn't have thought. Arsenal not sure. So Spurs and Everton might be interested I guess.
  4. Not sure if it has been said.... British players in the starting XI: Saints 5-0 Arsenal
  5. Zidane?
  6. Lack of good English?? Strewth, he speaks better English than most people in this country.
  7. Not really no. I knew he didn't favour it, but didn't notice that he was like Luke Shaw and actively sought to avoid using it.
  8. Isn't Hoj banned for this one?
  9. What surprised me about him today, that I hadn't really noticed before, is that he doesn't have a left foot.
  10. Was thinking the same. Congrats to him. See that there are 5 academy players training with the 1st team. Looks like things might be back on track there.
  11. BBC gave him MotM. Others unsurprisingly gave it to Ings (although Hoj was mine).
  12. So you think that we should have chained him up in the basement and wheeled him out for games? Or do you think that having been here for 4 years, he decided he wanted to go back to his adopted home, that we agreed rather than treat him like some sort of slave?
  13. Bit harsh isn't it? Hughes gave Valery and Obafemi some time.
  14. Look at this positively....what would have been better for the new manage - to see us scrape a draw, or to let goals in in the normal fashion?? OK the point would have been useful, but at least he can see what's what first hand. Maybe that is grasping at straws, but.... The interesting one for me is Austin vs Gabbi. I know Gabbi started amazingly for us back in 2017, but he has NEVER got into double figures in a league season throughout his whole career. Even Shane Long has managed that in the PL, and he managed over 20 in the Champ. Let's face it, Gabbi isn't good enough and never has been. He has an awful goal scoring record. We should move him on. His one good point though, is that he seemingly doesn't get injured that much.
  15. If we only took all those chances!!!!!!

  18. "RALPH'S ENTHUSIASM FOR FOOTBALL WAS CONTAGIOUS. IN OUR DISCUSSIONS, HE VERY QUICKLY ALIGNED HIMSELF WITH THE VALUES AND THE VISION OF THE CLUB." RALPH KRUEGER Wow, he must be a clever chap. Being around Saints for somewhat longer than him, I have absolutely no idea what the (current) vision of the club is.
  19. In the good old days of the Southampton Way (whatever that was), they always liked a v small staff to come, as when they left, it wouldn't be too disruptive. Maybe we are going back to that.
  20. Got to thank Hughes for changing the whole atmosphere at the back end of last season. He may not have won the games he could have (Everton and Chelsea) but we stayed up (and he collected his £2m). No point being revisionist about it, and the stats don't tell the whole picture.
  21. I don't think anyone here knows how pay outs to sacked managers works. The severance package is likely to be very different to their normal wage, and also dependent on being out of work. Puel & Pellegrino being employed so soon will have mitigated our payments. Hughes, well, he might be something different as not sure whether he will find a job again so easily. But why not offset the payments we received from Everton and Spurs and put those towards the severance packages of others.
  22. What is the payment when we sack them? I read in one paper that it was £6m for Hughes, but I highly highly doubt that, as that will be the amount he might have earned over the length of his entire contract (presumption). There will be clauses in contracts that mitigate payments and are no doubt attached to performances.
  23. Not sure the Echo leads. It follows.
  24. Well SkyBet seem to have closed the book now.
  25. I'm with you on that, after all, its Saints and we know we can muck it up. Looking on Sky, he is 20/1 on, which is about as short as it gets (and yes, I know that this reacts to the market)
