I hope we have Sims as part of the plans. He is still only 21 and reckon, given playing time, he can push on. I said that about JWP, who never has really pushed on as expected, so hope Sims will be different.

Is Matthew Le God an alias?

Never like to see a first team player leave, but over the past couple of seasons he has without doubt been the most infuriating player.
-
Ah yes. For some reason I thought that they were on the same as Mor. But if Iran equalise??? EDIT - all irrelevant anyway now.

They'll go thru on GD won't they?

Suarez had a £40m release and eventually went for a lot more, and not Arsenal's +1p

He's not signing because of how Puel might play him. The average that a manager is in place is so much shorter than the contract these players sign, and with Puel, there was doubt he would even make the start of the season. I would be amazed if he is there at the end of next season and wouldn't be surprised if he was first for the chop.

Love all these apocryphal titbits.

Bat, I agree, but the first 30 mins vs Tunisia were pretty good. This game must be hard to get totally motivated in 30ºc heat and being so many goals up.

Is Young really better than Bertie?
-
Even by this board's standards, the speed of this assassination of his playing ability is quite impressive.

Don't worry too much about it Alps, you can't change things (unless you buy the club) so best to look at things with more equanimity.

I'm flattered that your first post in nearly 2 years is aimed at me. Chapeau mon pote. Or is this your 2nd account?
-
Well if he doesn't want to do the big club thing again, he has Romeu to keep him company.

If you don't understand things, maybe it would be best not to spout utter tosh.

I have to say that I fall in with whelk on this (that is if I understand things correctly). I do not subscribe to Shankly's "Some people believe football is a matter of life and death. I am very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that." It isn't. If the club think that they got away with it, then the one true measure as to whether they have or not, provided that we are not relegated, are attendances. You get fools like me who renew their ST somewhat blindly, so that can distort the dissatisfaction. If the club read this, then I can assure them that I have not renewed because of the scintillating football on offer. There were 2 reasons....1) my lad likes it, and I think it unfair to burst that passion so early on in his life, not least as SFC are sure to do that later on in his life, and 2) it is mainly so I can escape my wife for a while.

Yes, the final year. That is until it comes to renewal time next year, and then we'll see if next year will be the final year. You know how it is!!!

x2 renewed a month ago

^ correct. People seem not to get it that he has been here 4 years, and has seemingly decided to move on. How long do people expect him to stay (and why)? He isn't a local, he isn't British, so why should he stay here? Maybe he and his family think that Amsterdam is a nicer place to live than Southampton and its environs. Maybe he thinks that his playing career can be extended in the Eredivisie - I would have thought that he should be able to do that by 2-3 years. Maybe he has made enough money over the past 4 years, and before, to be financially stable for life and has decided that he can have a happy life on a lesser wage (still a damn good one) at one of Europe's big clubs even if it is in a weaker league. Maybe he wants to play in European competitions. Whatever it is, SFC are not (seemingly) pushing him out.
-
He votes with his wallet, as he has never been to a Saints game.
-
Might be my fault as I mentioned it tongue in cheek.

I renewed as it is likely going to be the last year I do (although I say that most years). But you are spot on about certain aspects. The owner....many will ask whether you want your hand held by him, but I started a thread about this a while back. All I want is to know that the owner actually gives a damn before paying over £1400 for two STs. (Bit late for that now!). Our last owner seemed to have been as benign as could be expected given that she had zero interest in the club. This new owner, **** knows. AFAIK he didn't even congratulate the players in getting themselves out of the **** they found themselves in with a few games to go. And it isn't exactly like Far Eastern owners have, in general, the greatest of reputations as owners. I think that we are entitled to ask wtf are we getting back for our £600-700 tickets. Are we content with 17th and the TV money, or are we looking to try and qualify for Europe?

Its OK. We've got JWP.
