Well I ordered mine at 1445 and it hasn't arrived today.

Its silly season and there are lots of silly rumours. Who starts them? In this case, one might suspect that it is the agent trying to drum up business for his client as he seemingly has no future at Liverpool. Now I know that the board has made some bad signings of late. Carrilo was/is a disaster but we all know that that was to support a lame duck manager and that rather than signing him we should have chopped MP sooner and kept the £19m. But the board aren't completely stupid, despite what some on here like to think. I think the world and his dog know that Ings would be a risky signing and stupidly so at £20m. I suspect that Liverpool, if they want rid of him, will have to let him go out on loan with an option to buy. But who would take him?

Summer 2018 - Other teams Manager/transfer business

This Anderson chap. He's 25, which is weird for the dildos to sign as I thought that they usually liked them a bit older, has 1 cap for Brazil. Is there a reason why he only has one? I think it was from the 2016 Olympic Games. Now I realise that there is competition in the position he plays in, but for £40m, I would be expecting a full on international. -
To me that was a pen. Can't see why Shearer and the other chimps all were jumping up and down so excitedly.

Aye. You wouldn't come away from the WC saying that Kane was a world class player, would you? He was being touted as the one world class player that we had, but penalties and goals against Panama don't really cut the mustard.

Didn't Everton have the second Messiah, the world's greatest, one Ronald Koeman?? Is Silva the third Messiah? -
Agree with this. We have been stung with stupid bids recently, and this is another at £20m. I would bid less than £10m if I really wanted him. But if we do want him, why on earth sell JRod????

See its over now - volunteered to go to the supermarket. I don't like watching England at the best of times, although patriotic fervour does take over but not in friendlies. This to me was a waste of time akin to a friendly. We are a very average side, who due to UEFA/FIFA's continued expansionism, do well in qualifying, which papers over the cracks.

Wish the commentators (esp ex Spud Hoddle) would say it as it is. Rose is crap.

Do Liverpool actually need him, or was it, given the price, a bit of kleptomania?

I'm really glad that we haven't (although that might be just because we haven't). I am not a fan of the way football is these days. Those that spend the most win. If you have a problem you go out and buy a ready made replacement. What happens to bringing players on through from lower leagues or your own academies? I guess we aren't really that different from others, just not with such a record transfer. But if you can't beat them.... -
Dutch clubs seem to like to sell expensively and buy cheaply. Very good model to stick too, but it isn't always going to work, especially when you try and buy back a player. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dutch_football_transfer_record

Jannik Vestergaard - Official: Signs for Leicester
angelman replied to ChiefScummer's topic in The Saints
DEFENDER PASSES SAINTS MEDICAL Jannik Vestergaard has passed his medical and is expected to be announced as a Southampton player in the next 24 hours, Sky Sports News understands. The player will join from German club Borussia Monchengladbach for a fee of £18million. West Ham were also interested in the Denmark centre-back, who featured at the World Cup. ========= ****ing West Ham are everywhere. -
He can review his contract next month if he wants, but he better hurry up, as the window closes 9th August. And how very dare our (new) owner does not want to sell our players any more. We didn't loan him to Fulham to then just go and sell him to them.

No they are not being linked. They have been quoted as wanting a loan. Maybe semantics, but others can say what they like about him, unless and until Saints say so, there is no loan in the offing. -
Surprised at the final, as I thought after the Spanish were knocked out, that it would be Belgium vs Croatia. We started out thinking we had no chance. The side of the draw opened up nicely, and after Russia beat Spain, it was possibly the best chance for all the remaining teams to ever get to the final. So the press and "its coming home" got off their tits on self-aggrandisement. Me, I've been bored rigid by all the England performances. I don't enjoy the way we play, not least because our midfield is sub-par and lacks creativity, or what creativity there is, is used selfishly rather than for the team. We aren't very good. Haven't been for years. Why we think over the course of a couple of weeks at the WC we suddenly have become world beaters is a mystery. We weren't much better than Tunisia. Panama was a joke. Belgium's B team was far better than our B team. Colombia could have beaten us but for the cross bar. Sweden didn't bother turning up and actually are even worse than us. So we come to Croatia. A team that plays as a team - I think that the crap that the country has been through might focus them and bring them together more. But the big difference between the two teams was the midfield. I look at the England team. The GK, CB and CF seem to be well grounded people. The rest wing backs, winger, midfield seem to largely saunter around with an arrogance that doesn't match their ability. Alli was crap. Sterling was crap. Lingard was crap. Young was crap. Henderson was crap for a different reason - he is more an anchor than creative. While I did of course want us to win last night and then on Sunday, if one looks at it without being revisionist nor biased, we are a very poor side. It is the same as last season watching Saints under MP - we were very poor. You can't polish a turd.

Am I right in thinking he is also a Saints supporter and used to be in the Kingsland when he could? -
Also just catching up with it. Am I the only one who thinks FF is going to cock it up every time the ball gets near him?

Ings.... 2012/13 - Championship - 32 games - 3 goals in 1626 minutes 2013/14 - Championship - 40 games - 21 goals in 3539 minutes 2014/15 - Premier League - 35 games - 11 goals in 3035 minutes 2015/16 - Premier League - 6 games - 2 goals in 339 minutes 2016/17 - Premier League - did not play 2017/18 - Premier League - 8 games - 1 goal in 265 minutes So he did fairly well in the Championship for one season, and OK in the PL the next. But really, if we are interested in buying him, why did we sell JRod? Compared to Shame Long 2010/11 - Championship - 44 games - 21 goals in 3775 minutes (plus 12 assists) 2011/12 - Premier League - 32 games - 8 goals in 2183 minutes 2012/13 - Premier League - 34 games - 8 goals in 2157 minutes 2103/14 - Premier League - 30 games - 7 goals in 2241 minutes 2014/15 - Premier League - 32 games - 5 goals in 1538 minutes 2015/16 - Premier League - 28 games - 10 goals in 2111 minutes 2016/17 - Premier League - 32 games - 3 goals in 1347 minutes 2017/18 - Premier League - 30 games - 2 goals in 1577 minutes Is Ings really that much of an upgrade over Long??

For once, you have posted something that I find amusing (and agree with). But **** me, City spending is just really very silly. What is it now? A net spend of £600m over the last 5 seasons (inc this one) -
There was me thinking Belgium were going to go all the way. Shows that I know absolutely zilch about football.
