  1. You would hope so, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
  2. I suppose it could happen in theory but I believe that to be extremely unlikely. As always, it is the great unwashed who will pay.
  3. Much of this science is very simplistic. For example, for many years climate scientists ignored the effects of clouds because they did not know how to model them. Also, when they talk about 'solar activity' they only look at total solar irradiation and completely overlook the effects of high-energy particle streams which have a significant effect on cloud formation.
  4. The lead is still in the glass, it's just separated from the other materials. There's not much you can do with it after that, except perhaps mix it in road surfaces. Having said that, it's fairly stable in the glass and probably won't hurt anybody.
  5. It is like the whole debate: very confused. And to agree... there is no known techonology to remove lead from the glass in old CRTs, although locking it up in glass is probably the safest way to dispose of it.
  6. I like it.
  7. If it's Boxing Day (not for you, Trousers) then there will be no mainline trains. I believe that the Tube trains will be running.
  8. Phew, just think how cold it would be were it not for Global Warming! And in the interests of 'balance': http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-1335798/Global-warming-halted-Thats-happened-warmest-year-record.html#ixzz17RkN9TLU It's in the Mail so it must be true, eh?
  9. As they say in the film 'Lawrence of Arabia', "it is written".
  10. Too many people. Simple as that.
  11. No necessarily. It usually means there is something else that you haven't though of.
  12. Rest in Peace, Brian. You will always be part of the history that you reported.
  13. This is my view too.
  14. It's usually cold in winter. HTH
  15. I was always told that we are in a short inter-glacial warm period. Volcanoes can be just as nasty, I'll grant you. Even though we may not be affected climatically by Yellowstone, the economic fallout would be very nasty.
  16. Not if we are overdue an ice age. We can survive global warming but we cannot survive an ice age (and by 'we' I mean us in Britain, not those in Uganda.
  17. But what if you live in Australia?
  18. Oops - glad I missed it.
  19. It's the cold weather.
  20. Have you asked the bank? That would be the first place to go.
  21. Exactly. And that is the problem.
  22. Oh yes there are!
  23. Not if you are out of the country it isn't. The stupid idiots in the ticket office has ballsed up again.
  24. Communism has failed in every instance.
