  1. Yup. Absolutely crazy timing and further evidence to support my concerns that our chairman does not understand the vagaries of football.
  2. My neighbour loves his cat but we share a drive and this thing insist on sitting in the middle of it. One day I'm going to reverse in and the lazy mogger is not going to get out of the way in time. The dilemma is, should I tell my neighbour?
  3. That solves it then. Guly to be player-manager.
  4. But all this gossip has been in the press and on the TV since before Christmas. Even Claridge said as much last on the BBC last Saturday night when responding to a comment about Pardew saying Bristol Rovers was a must-win game, so it's no real surprise. It's just the timing that makes no real sense unless someone is appointed quickly.
  5. Even if you didn't like him? You might just string him out for as long as possible just to be awkward.
  6. They've only gone and sold my seat again without asking me first. This club is going downhill fast!
  7. If I remember correctly, Coppell took a paycut when Reading were relegated from £1.5m to around £750,000 so I don't suppose he would be cheap.
  8. So all those hours hanging around the zoo with a roll of toilet paper were a waste of time? Thanks for the warning Mikey.
  9. So that rules out Ferguson, Ancelotti, Hiddink, Mancini, Wenger and quite a few others. This is getting worse and worse...
  10. Ooh, you teaser!
  11. I asked him once what went wrong with Torquay. He said that a manager has to have a good working relationship with his chairman....
  12. So, who are these 'staff at Staplewood' that are more important than the players or the manager?
  13. A womanager? Or even worse, a personager?
  14. You'll forgive me if I don't sit around waiting. At my age you don't have too much time left. Incidentally, MLT was at a question-and-answer session at a referees' meeting a few years ago and he was specifically asked about Hoddle. He said that there were certainly some games that we had won because of his tactical knowledge, but the players used to say that if he were made of chocolate then he would eat himself.
  15. There's a few on here: http://www.deteracat.co.uk/ Let me know how you get on. I've always fancied an automatic water cannon but the ones I've found all seem to be a bit underpowered.
  16. Exactly. It will take the wind out of our sails for a litle while so the new one will have to hit the ground running.
  17. Only crazy if a replacement is not already lined up. We have only seen one side of the coin. As usual, I shall sit on the fence and reserve judgement until Mr. Newman has a dozen games under his belt.
  18. Colder than ever. What's your point?
  19. Even my missus would not be safe. Still, if he got the results it might be a price worth paying.
  20. The big question is... have our chances of making the top two been improved by the change of manager?
  21. Having looked at all the names above, I hear that Alan Pardew's free. HCDAJFU
  22. Oh God! Now all we are ever going to hear is how things would have been so much better if only we had signed Lambert, or Hoddle, or ....
  23. He was the right man for qualifying but the wrong man for the tournament. By the same token, I believe that we need a different manager for League 1 than we shall for the Championship.
  24. Hmmm, then it all points to a decision taken at short notice, something in the heat of the moment, something that has been brewing up for several months. I suppose the delay until the next appointment will give us some indication of the amount of premeditation.
