We knew this as the Clausius Inequality, or the second law of thermodynamics. The first law says you can't win. The second law says you can't break even. The third law says you can't stay out of the game. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clausius_theorem

The Spending Review (tackling the Socialists debt mountain)

I would reply with the traditional response but this is The Lounge, after all. -
But that would mark you out as an engineer, and hence the lowest member of society.

How about a benevolent dictatorship? I'll toss you for it. -
You might have used one without knowing it.

So, what would you rather have instead? We can't posiibly survive another like the last one. -
The universe is everything that we can observe or experience, so if we can imagine anything outside of it that also becomes part of our universe.

The majority usually vote against the status quo. -
Indeed. I've just gone and stood outside for the 2 minutes silence. My colleague and I were the only people that I saw. Here's to my great uncle at Arras, my dad's cousin at Alamein and all the others who gave us what we have today. I salute you all.

The equation is ambiguous as written. It could be (4x)^-1 or 4(x^-1)

You're at it again. ;-). The employers are not subsidised by giving 'benefits' to some people. -
Then all we need is to find some left little tits, then some right big tits, ....

Steady state. Mathematically it's the same as continual expansion but the light slows down over long distances so from our viewpoint you can't tell the difference.

That's very interesting. From the illustration it looks like they are an inherent part of the structure of the galaxy. I wonder if othe galaxies have them?

Ticket prices for Cheltenham FA Cup match

Because there are a lot more seats available in the central Kingsland than there are in the central Itchen and what are available there are snapped up quickly. The seat I had for Shrewsbury was abysmal. -

Just a quick skim through throws up some obviously ridiculous points. How about 'it's not that public sector workers are overpaid, but that some private sector workers are severely underpaid' ? -

Even after these cuts government spending will still be at the same level as three years ago. When you are heading in the wrong direction it's best to change course as soon as possible. -

That was my response. I certainly wouldn't try to read it out in public, there would be universal ridicule and evrybody would be rolling in the aisles laughing. -
www.flybe.com ? I have often passed by on our way south towing a caravan. We used to stay at Bellac. When I can face up to it we shall dedicate a day to visiting it.

Indeed, this is exactly what I have always argued. Saying 'we only expect a small crowd so we're closing over half the stadium' is the same as saying 'don't bother coming'. When I emailed David luker about this last season he said that the Kingsland was a 'large stand and expensive to open'. I also disagree about the views. Last Saturday I was sitting in row M at the Chapel end of the Itchen and my view was facing along the advertising boards behind the goal. I couldn't see a thing for the first half. Every time that there was any action the people to my right stood up to see what was happening, which only made things worse. -

Concise, certainly. Precise, too. -
Isn't that the gist of what I said? (I did include the link!) Edit: Ah, I see what you are saying now. My Macbook didn't show the text in bold.

I agree with you completely and I have been arguing this every time that we have an early round cup game. The Kingsland has a high proportion of long-term ST holders and the majority of them are not interested unless they can sit in or near their usual seats. They will not accept an inferior view of the game.
