  1. Let this be a lesson to you all about the demon drink! I heard of one young girl who woke up with the television on the shopping channel and her credit card lying beside the 'phone!
  2. Then we could have home fans behind both goals. This was all debated when we move to St Mary's and there were many who didn't like the present layout. It doesn't bother me, I'm one of the fuddy-duddies halfway along the Kingsland.
  3. Yes, I've been impressed by him lately. I still think he's too lightweight for a full-back, wasn't he flattened for the Reading goal yesterday?
  4. push them round the corner - there are plenty of empty seats there now!
  5. The away fans go down to pitch level and around behind the goal. Additionally, there is a large clearance gap between them and the Northam hardcore supporters. I have some photos of Strasbourg FC which show how it should be done - wire fencing and all that stuff.
  6. Bristol City have advanced plans for a new stadium. It will be interesting to see how they manage when they have a big mortgage hanging around their necks.
  7. Yup, there were a lot of complaints about it at the time. We are too nice to the opposition, the away fans should be stuck up in the corner at the back of the stands like we are at Newcastle, Tottenham, Chelsea, Man Utd. etc. Er sorry, that should read 'like we used to be at ...'
  8. It's a sad day when we can't even compete with the likes of Bristol City (no offence intended)
  9. I agree, we have signed too much of the same as we had already - lightweight inexperienced youngsters.
  10. It's a common convention that teams attack towards their own fans in the second half. The more relevant complaint is that there are not enough home fans surrounding the away fans thus nullifying their support.
  11. I think you'll find that these organisations are merely repeating the contents of a press release issued by the club, but this debate is academic. Pearson's contract could have been extended, indeed many have talked of this being a longer contract with a 'break clause'. Whatever the reasons, this alternative choice has turned out to be a colossal mistake with disastrous financial implications.
  12. It was a good performance against a team up at the top of the table and we should have been given a penalty that would probably have won the game, and in isolation we could be satisfied with that, but in the wider context it was another 2 points dropped and I can't see where we are going to win the 7 or more games that we need out of the 20 that are left.
  13. Yup, I agree completely.
  14. I'm not looking forward to this game, as usual. I'd like to be pleasantly surprised but I've completely given up hope, to be honest.
  15. I think you'll find that it was the first team.
  16. Nah, they're far too good for us.
  17. you mean, like quoting from an anonymous letter?
  18. I read it too this morning: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1101951/Forest-Calderwood-chop-Doncaster-defeat.html 'with former Derby boss Billy Davies the hot favourite to take over'
  19. There's enough material there for a thesis.
  20. At home, to Leyton Orient HTH
  21. It usually does, it's called 'regression to the mean', but that normally applies where the team is in a false position due to a run of bad luck. I think that even the most apologetic of the posters on here have given up using that particular excuse.
  22. There's a gap opening up between the four of us down there and all the others. For the second half of the season our form has got to improve by at least 6 points unless we are very, very lucky.
  23. Staying up is looking increasingly less likely but if by some miracle or change of management we didn't go down, then we can expect more of the same but much, much worse.
  24. I hope it's true, somebody needs to take a grip at this club. It just goes to show how important it is to have experienced older players in the club. ...oh
  25. The premiership is smaller now than it was back then, and the 'Champions League' has a lot to answer for.
