  1. North Sea gas started to be introduced in the early sixties replacing coal gas which was ubiquitous until then. Most houses didn't have central heating relying instead on coal which was delivered by 'coalmen'. The streets in my patch of North London were lit by gas lamps, as indeed were many houses. My point was that the high price that we are now paying for gas - and other energy sources - is due in a large part to poor management at government levels. Bad management is one thing that Britain is still good at, and it is especially evident in the recent history of SFC.
  2. Bad management at the highest level?
  3. Betting odds are not the probability that an event will happen but are merely a reflection of the money that has been placed on that event happening. They therefore reflect the opinions and judgments of the punters. From these odds we may thus infer what others think the probability is, but as I understand it, the more that people bet on an event happening the shorter the odds become (whatever that means).
  4. Whichever way you look at it, whatever slant you try to put on it, from any point of view, it is quite patently bad management.
  5. When he left us, didn't he say that he wanted to leave for a bigger club.... ....and then joined West Ham?
  6. Not at all. Assuming that we beat Watford in our game-in hand, then providing that we do no worse than Norwich over the other games we have to beat either Forest or Blackpool and match (or better) their other results. It doesn't matter in which order we acheive this provided that our points total from those other games is at least as good as Forest's (or Blackpool's). Forest also have to travel to Blackpool (13th April) so if we beat Forest and Blackpool then we need to better either of the totals of their other games. Of course if both Forest and Blackpool win all their other games then it would probably mean that we would have to win all ours, unless Forest win at Blackpool. If either Forest or Blackpool drop points over the rest of the season, then we can 'afford' to do the same (provided Norwich don't go on a run). Whatever, if we win all our games then we will undoubtedly be safe.
  7. Survival is in our own hands. All that we have to do (!) is win our game in hand at Watford, then either beat Forest on the last day and also match or better the results of Norwich and the other games of Forest or do the same with regard to Blackpool instead of Forest.
  8. All we can do is concentrate on winning the next game, and then the next game, and then the n......
  9. March 26th according to the Echo... http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/4066098.March_deadline_for_administration/
  10. And the common factor is.... people won't pay to watch Saints,we're not the attraction that we once were.
  11. I'd forgotten about him, TBH.
  12. Wait until we are about to go into administration and then pick us up for a song. Out of interest, what numbers are you using? I wouldn't want to share my win with anybody else.
  13. But now we only need to win one in a row in order to have won 4 in a row, if you see what I mean.
  14. So far, so good....
  15. These things happen all the time in Italy (allegedly). If one team need the points and it means nothing to the other then it is just good manners....
  16. Those comments are eerily familiar. They are exactly what we were saying a few months ago
  17. No they didn't. It was a personal decision by the player
  18. I'd forgotten what it was like to win games. Three games ago I asked when was the earliest date that we could be mathematically relegated. Now I'm asking when we could be mathematically safe. I still think we'll finish 4th from bottom though, but I'll settle for that.
  19. The best way to get match-fit is to play games and nothing beats a settled team (on or off the pitch). We're picking up suspensions so something will have to change soon.
  20. What a fantastic league this is! Premiership, eat your heart out.
  21. I wish I handn't looked at this thread now. I hope nobody finds out.
  22. I would say that you are out of order. Whatever the circumstances, whoever they are, nobody should get seriously hurt just by going to or by being associated with a game of football. We can only hope that the gentleman concerned makes a full and speedy recovery.

  24. I think it has to be a 'deliberate kick' to be a backpass and penalised by an indirect free kick. I've seen these sort of incidents given so for once we were lucky.
