  1. Why all the criticism? Just feel the love
  2. As Danny Blanchflower said, "...The game is about glory, it is about doing things in style and with a flourish, about going out and beating the lot, not waiting for them to die of boredom."
  3. And I think you are overstating the importance of the goalkeeper in organising the defence. Our organisation has been woeful no matter who is in goal and if anything McCarthy was worse. The defence and midfield should be cohesive and organised no matter who is behind them. True, a more experienced goalkeeper can help but only a little. You may not like Bazunu and I don't particularly care either way but to start blaming him for all our defensive mess is stretching your case too far. I repeat. last Saturday it would not have made any difference to the thrashing whoever we had in goal.
  4. There’s only a limited amount that a keeper can do in that respect. He might be able to prompt the odd player or two but when there are six or seven who aren’t concentrating and are out of position he will end up not doing his own job properly.
  5. Once again, it’s not the keepers that are the problem. It’s the poor and disorganised rabble in front of them. Sort that out first, then the keepers after.
  6. Or unless you wanted any prospective buyers to think that he was a hard-working, dedicated professional who never complained and knuckled down at every opportunity* *He may very well be such a person.
  7. But not based on Saturday. Nor the previous games. Far more important to sort out the midfield and defence.
  8. Nope. You have unrealistic expectations. We all know that you don't like him but he wasn't responsible for that scoreline.
  9. That is a concern. If all he cares about is making pretty patterns then we are not going to get very far.
  10. That's all irrelevant. It wouldn't have mattered who you stuck in goal on Saturday the result would have been very similar. Fix the structure before you start worrying about the cracks.
  11. Nothing to do with it. The defence should operate as a cohesive unit no matter who is in goal.
  12. It’s not either one thing or the other. Far too simplistic.
  13. Re-fighting old battles like a retired defeated general.

  15. Good idea. I hear that they’re very popular in Russia. You might get a good price there
  16. They're missing a spark.
  17. I have always believed that it will cost us more goals than it creates.
  18. Eh? So he gets blamed now for not letting the shots go straight in.
  19. I think he must have been taught to go down with his hands. He is very agile but not strong enough.
  20. Up off the ground from a firm header. A classic striker’s effort.
  21. Could be. But this was not the game to find out.
  22. And exactly how should he have done that?
  23. The defence’s job is exact that. To get in the way of attackers, to make it difficult for them to get a shot away and in particular to challenge for headers. I saw none of that today. Their third that you’re so annoyed about would have beaten most keepers. I get far more annoyed about the non-existent defence than anything else. Put any other goalkeeper in their and the result would have been little different.
  24. The fifth goal was not his fault. Let’s not let our obsession overrule reality. For what it’s worth the others were unlikely to have been save by another keeper either but that doesn’t fit the narrative.
