That’s what happened, but my concern is that after the ball is in the net the assistant can put his flag up if he thinks the player was offside on the understanding that VAR will allow the goal if he is wrong. This means that he is more likely to flag thinking that there is going to be another check in his decision. Not having proper coverage so that VAR can play its role is ridiculous. And at Anfield too.

Good point. Baseball is nothing like football. There is very little in it that relies on a combination of players working in cooperation. Cricket is very similar in this respect.
