  5. Well there’s a surprise. Well done Obafemi.
  6. Obviously Chelsea players can’t get booked.
  7. It has been taken over by Christians but is not exclusively a Christian festival.
  8. They try to arrange ‘local’ derbies over this period. That doesn’t explain why Saints were drawn away at Newcastle on New Years Day though.
  9. I guess you didn’t get the message? As the Pope might say, “Peace on all off you”. Merry Christmas one and all.
  10. The feast of Saturnalia in Rome predates all of that. The festival was taken over later by the early Christians. But as we all say, Peace on Earth and goodwill to all
  11. ‘giggly with the mrs’ ? Are you offering yours? No chance round at my place
  12. Oh really? I can remember several underhit passes.
  13. It doesn't have to be in our midfield
  14. He started to go towards Grealish and then stopped well short and turned side on. It’s easy to keep your head out of the way of a shot if you’re looking straight at it but he did his best to avoid it altogether. He should have run headlong towards Grealish and at the same time letting him know that he was coming. At the very least it gives the attacker something else to think about and that might be the difference between flying into the top corner or going wide of the post. As has been mentioned above, this ‘turning away’ happens a lot with our players.
  15. Yes indeed, one of the all-time greats. Not spectacular but deadly effective. I saw his first goal on his debut for Tottenham against Coventry. A trademark far post header, if I remember correctly.
  16. But they don’t tend to lead to a goal conceded.
  17. It’s just occurred to me that he is ok with glancing headers and has scored a few goals from them. It’s meeting the ball smack in the middle of his forehead that he seems to have trouble with.
  18. Nothing to do with the full backs and everything to do with not picking up the loose men whilst holding their shape. That run against West Ham was great until it came to his shot. Went for a throw in, didn’t it?
  19. Yep, you got it. If you’re an EU purchaser you have the whole of the EU as a potential supplier in competition with little ol’ UK. If you are considering buying a complex system that will need regular service visits are you really going to buy it from a country that probably won’t be able to send staff to service it? There is precious little that we supply that cannot be sourced elsewhere. We shall still be able to buy from the EU but it will cost us.
  20. The Single Market is by far our most important trading partner and the rest of the world cannot come close to replacing what we lose of it. As far as manufacturing is concerned, and that includes me, anything I produce at the moment is ‘Made in the EU’ but that will soon change to ‘Made in the UK’. No more CE markings for many products with consequential loss of sales, both worldwide as well as to the EU. And no, the Tories haven’t got a clue what they’re doing. They only ever think of themselves.
  21. Stephens is too prone to lapses in concentration. He is not disciplined enough to be a top class defender in the Premier League, let alone internationals.
  22. What ‘shackles’ might these be? I have never come across any. The only ‘shackles’ that I can see in the future are the ones that will occur because we have left the Single Market.
  23. Thanks, that’s something to cheer us up for the next few days
  24. Yes, yes, great result but how well did we play?
  25. Have you researched how much of that imported trade comes through the EU and not from it? Start with 'The Rotterdam Effect' and move on from there.
