  1. Clear as mud. What counts as “absolutely cannot be done from home”? I can think of loads of examples.
  2. The government aren’t doing anything at the moment. At the moment it’s all promises but no actions.
  3. I’m not talking about companies that make goods and then hope to sell them. There are many companies that have contracts to fulfil and if they don’t supply these contracts then they so get paid and if they don’t get paid then they can’t pay their staff.
  4. But if he says that only key workers can go out hundreds of thousands of businesses will go bust in a matter of days, not weeks.
  5. But if that business employs several people who would otherwise lose their jobs? Please don’t mention the government’s lans to offer financial help. There are no details yet as to how that will be arranged, and anyway somebody has to be there to try to get the help. At both ends of the line.
  6. “Obvious really” What is that supposed to mean? If you have a business that desperately needs some finance to see it through the next month how do you “do that from home”? If you have manufacturing contracts to fulfill, how do you “do that from home”?
  7. That’s because it isn’t. Too many unanswered questions. “Travelling to and from work”. Work is not always done at just one place. It might be clear to certain people in certain situations, but there are many instances where this guidance is undefined.
  8. [smug mode] Fortunately I bought the box set of Sharpe back in January, just after I bought the complete set of novels from Amazon
  9. Glad to hear it. I loaded them all onto my phone and iPad so that I could watch them on long flights. It's going to be a long time before I finish them all.
  10. I have the complete Palin travel series on dvd. If there's any way that I can help, let me know.
  11. Don’t you dare try telling me to stop posting you little ...
  12. As I said, it’s not all about MOTs but if that’s all that you can understand then fair enough. Try thinking about all the other aspects of life that need dealing with.
  13. Because it’s my NHS too. Don’t you realise that the NHS is not going to cope at all. It is going to be overwhelmed by a factor of ten or twenty. Whatever older people do is going to make no difference. Tens of millions of people isolating themselves from society is not going to make a blind bit of difference. It won’t ‘give the NHS a fighting chance’.
  14. You really don’t get it either, do you? What threat is anybody over 70 to you? Why are they more of a threat than a thirty year old? Answer - they aren’t. Smokers are also more at risk. Should we tell every smoker to stay at home?
  15. You really don’t get it do you? You won’t get infected by an old person. You will get infected by someone you work with or someone you live with. Old people are not a threat to you. If an older person gets infected it will most probably be from a youngster. Getting this virus is not a death sentence, far from it. There are nowhere near enough ICU beds for the numbers that will need them, something like 3,700 out of tens of thousands. It won’t make any difference if those over 70 self-isolate. Most of them never go anywhere near a youngster anyway.
  16. Grandparents of course. Oops.
  17. Sometimes you can be a complete pr!ck. What is the NHS for if it’s not for sick people? Or do you just want it reserved for yourself? Everybody has a right to life and liberty. Not house arrest.
  18. If your MOT expires then you can’t tax your car with all that follows. You cannot keep it on a public road. Just one small example.
  19. There are many more reasons than these. It’s impractical. Besides, what’s the point? Who are we trying to protect? Why lock yourself away when you might only have a few years left to live? Might as well kill your self now.
  20. The whole country is going to need financial assistance very soon.
  21. Over 70s isolation cannot work on so many grounds. Cars need MOTs, hospital appointments need to be kept, many still need to work, many do important work, some look after other events older people.
  22. That is idiotic on so many levels. They only want to keep the oldies out of intensive care beds so that they can reserve them for themselves. You only have to ask yourself whose welfare they are concerned about. It’s not the over-70s
  23. Just a thought... If this season is scratched would the City European ban have to be extended?
  24. I’ve been impressed with Klopp’s responses to be fair.
  25. I hope that’s not a dry, persistent cough
