  1. So? “At the moment the ball is kicked”
  2. You are so wrong here. I suggest that you go and read the IFAB instructions regarding offside. Basically, you don’t have to touch the ball to be interfering with play or an opponent. Armstrong was well offside and before VAR (and TV) nobody in the ground would have questioned it.
  3. You may very well think that. Others will differ. There is no right or wrong decision here. Just a decision.
  4. No. A keeper watches everything including the scoring threats.
  5. He has no choice with offsides. Was he sent to the monitor?
  6. He almost runs over the penalty spot.
  7. But that’s exactly the point. We made the mistakes. We lost.
  8. They didn’t disallow the goal. They just didn’t allow it. You will never get consistency across different games with different interests at stake.
  9. The keeper's position would have been affected by Armstrong's run, not that he'd have got across to make a save but yes, the letters of the IFAB decision do seem to say that he would have had to touch the ball in some way. Did he affect the keeper's ability to track the path of the cross? It all used to be so much simpler. Whatever, if it takes over 4 minutes it's not clear either way.
  10. Yeah. I prefer the old traditional way. Play to the flag and argue about it later.
  11. It would still have been given offside. Which it was.
  12. Just the run is enough in itself.
  13. I’ve just managed to see the highlights through Remote Desktop since the videos aren’t supported in my location. In my opinion Armstrong is clearly in an offside position and interfering with play by making a movement towards the goal. You could almost describe him as making a decoy run.
  14. You said ‘could have beaten. We were some way off that.
  15. That’s far too long. If they can’t decide within 40 seconds then it can’t be an obvious mistake, or as Howard Webb calls them ‘howlers’.
  16. Could have? We let in three goals!
  17. Fun for Chelsea.
  18. Too many senseless bookings.
  19. Can’t you play golf in the dark? (asking for an old friend)
  20. At the end of the season that one point might make all the difference. And mean that we nearly reach Derby’s record.
  21. Because VAR tells them to.
  22. Refs don’t give offside decisions.
  23. Different sports with different tempos. Plenty of natural breaks so it doesn’t break up the flow of the game so much.
  24. That’s just an unproven theory. It the opponents don’t chase you around then you get more tired than they do.
