The NHS is an emergency service so I feel that if there is a serious health issue then they should step in, but should seek reimbursement from those responsible. I'm not sure how urgent these repacments are. There are an awful lot of people waiting for new hips, amongst other things.
The name for Eastleigh station was originally Bishopstoke but the Railway changed this to avoid confusion with Basingstoke. One of my suppliers is a metalbasher. He and his family (Frith) used to word in the engine-building sheds - now the bus station. He says that the noise was so loud that if you wanted to talk to someone you went up to them, cupped your hands over their ear and shouted into it. He's now partially deaf, of course.
I am reminded of a famous intro from 'I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue':

You've got me there, I obviously can't run a business and use this forum at the same time. So he must have done it more than five times. There's a lesson there for the rest of us.
(Can I blame Saint-scooby and his avatar?)
The Olympics are having secondary effects. The Royal Marines Sourh Coast Concert on Whale Island has been cancelled for this year:
'DUE TO THE DEMAND FOR SERVICE MANPOWER TO SUPPORT THE LONDON OLYMPIC GAMES THE SOUTH COAST PROMS 2012 HAS REGRETTABLY BEEN CANCELLED'
He's always done it. It took real skill for him to spill the second shot against Bristol back into the danger area. All he needed to do was help it on its way across goal.
Ah! I missed that bit first time. It's a very complicated comparison though, direct & indirect taxes, social benefits. As one of the comments states, in some parts of the world you don't need heating. Still, money isn't everything.
