  1. Looks like Grant has got the job!! http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11095_5721692,00.html Just interviewed Paul Merson on SSN. He was scathing of the Skates both in their decision to get rid of Hart and their decision to appoint Grant. He said he could see them getting out of it before, now he's changed his mind.
  2. Terrible challenge by Jones. Should have been straight red not second yellow.
  3. The online match commentary on Solent is also available free-to-air for FA Cup matches.
  4. I've got another question. When will we officially lose the prefix "struggling", as in "Struggling Southampton"? I think that is so ingrained in the football correspondent's psyche that we'll have to qualify for the Champions League, to lose it.
  5. There are plenty of other examples of players playing too much, too young and suffering accordingly. Rooney was a boy in a man's body and could handle playing week-in, week-out but Steven Gerrard suffered terribly from shin splints during his teen years because he was played too much. I think Arsene Wenger, above any other coach in this country, knows more about the psychology and physiology of young footballers. Besides, he was too valuable an asset to Arsenal to risk serious injury playing elsewhere.
  6. Decent cricketer. Done well for Hampshire and Queensland and for Australia in one dayers but NOT a test opener IMHO. Just out for a duck against the Windies. LBW Jerone Taylor, not playing a shot.
  7. I think he felt sorry for the goalie and decided to pass it back to him. Then when Flinders refused to pick it up, thought he had no choice but to put it in.
  8. Hull City look like they're going to put another 3 points between them and the Skates tonight 3-0 up at half time.
  9. Haven't seen this mentioned elsewhere but the local paper in South Devon is reporting we've recalled Poke. http://www.thisissouthdevon.co.uk/gulls/Saints-recall-keeper-Poke/article-1541760-detail/article.html?
  10. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/internationals/8379471.stm
  11. They have guaranteed 2000. I don't know what the spread home side/FA/away side is but say it's 40/20/40? We will have guaranteed to pay Northampton 40% of the money raised from sales of 2,000, probably around £12.5 to £13K. Hardly going to break the bank! We'll take over 2,000 anyway.
  12. So what do you get, South-West from Plymouth? If you don't get South Today, it's channel 984 on Sky. If you don't have Sky, then you can get it on the Hampshire web page about an hour after transmission.
  13. Well here's a third list with 11. So we have 13 on the BBC, 12 on the FL and 11 on Sky. I am more inclined to go with the FL's official stats! http://www.skysports.com/football/stats/comp/0,19886,11718,00.html
  14. We're talking League goals! How does 11 for us and 1 for Bristol Rovers make 13?
  15. As I said on the other thread: According to the FL Website Lambert has 12 (joint top). Could be the disputed goal between him and Papa? http://www.football-league.co.uk/page/DivisionalScorers/0,,10794~200925,00.html
  16. I liked the way Sky were interviewing their "fans" outside Poundland. Must be the new club shop!
  17. We did but this is a last 11 games thread, not a last 12 games thread.
  18. Maybe the 635 were the amount sold in advance? Swelled by a couple of hundred who paid on the gate?
  19. 635 according to the OS but still a good turnout for a midweek game, that far from home.
  20. And Aarron Martin.
  21. According to the FL Website Lambert has 12 (joint top). Could be the disputed goal between him and Papa? http://www.football-league.co.uk/page/DivisionalScorers/0,,10794~200925,00.html
  22. From the Hartlepool forum:
  23. Bart will be fine. He's got a 100% win record this season. 2 games for Barnsley and 1 1/4 games for us.
  24. He stands at nearly 6ft 3, Georgie, Georgie!
  25. What, getting out alive?
