  3. Could it be that after Mr Gao undertaking due diligence on the club and then buying his 80%, he is now going through every aspect of the club before speaking of his plans. Could it be he is trying to walk before he runs. If i had invest £220m in a football club I would be looking at it in depth before making claims of plans that are unachievable. Mr. Gao does not appear to be someone that has purchased a premier league club just so he can shout and boast about it. So has he bought it to make money? Having spent £220M there is no guarantee that he will get his money back very quickly. If he asset strips and we get relegated. It may be just about possible to get his money back from the league position money, TV, parachute payments and selling the club. But that will not be particularly easy to make a profit. Who would want to buy us, other than at a knock down price. Bills and taxes still have to be paid. So if Mr Gao isn't here to shout about it or make a 'quick buck', then why is he here? Could it be he is formatting a long term sustainable business plan whether that be on similar lines to the existing model of selling best players at top dollar or something entirely new, whether that includes the existing board or an entirely new one (including the other 20% owner KL). Lets hope in the meantime we can survive this season and we start to hear what is in store for us as Saints fans.
  4. Would these signings improve the squad and give it some 'balls'? Sturridge (28yrs) total 48 goals in 98 appearances for Liverpool. 17-18 league 9 appearances 3 goals 16-17 league 20 appearances 3 goals Walcott (28yrs) total 65 goals in 265 appearances for Arsenal 17-18 League 4 appearance 0 goals 16-17 League 28 appearances 10 goals Both proven goal scorers both out of favour. Our league stats (I don't have the figures) have Saints up there with the top half of the league for creating chances but at the bottom for goal conversion. Would both be keen to get their careers going again and be big assets or both looking for pay day contracts to see out the last 5 years of their careers? Or will neither suit the formation we are playing? For me, get them in they both are better than anything we currently have.

  8. i think 6 as well. come get voting only 9% so far.
  9. Well deserved to a consummate professional. Whether you agree with the honours system or not, he should still be congratulated on this achievement that so few other deserving Saints players have gained. Congratulations Steven Davis.
  10. me too...... If saints win that game we get 2 extra points and we stay up on goal difference. WBA go down. Having said that the years from -10 in League 1 to back up to the premier league and of course Marcus I wouldn't miss for the world.
  11. just to correct you. it was only 1-0 11 v 11. the first penalty came after Arnautovic (33mins) was sent off. 2-0 at 38mins.
  12. Is it MLT's best goal?
  13. I hope he has been forced to put in a transfer request so we don't have to pay him anything. Depending on contract wording of course.
  14. Bournemouth (& Boscombe) used up until 1930s
  15. I have a football signed by the '76 cup winning team. No provenance tho'.
  16. Ah should have read the previous threads to see that you were trying to be clever.
  17. It is that famous you got it wrong. it was the 95-96 season when we won 3-1 that the grey shirts were swapped over at halftime. The 6-3 was 96-97. So were you really there or just getting old and confused?
  18. yeah...Wayman has got it wrong. I have notification that my renewal is the same price as last season's early bird price. So not sure where he is coming from!!!

    TV Tax

Totally agree. Apart from being one of cheapest forms of entertainment available the BBC is one of the most respected media agencies in the world. Speak to anyone virtually anywhere in the world and they will have heard of the BBC. Do we really need more advert financed channels packed full of dumb-down American trash. I suspect there is hardly a person in the UK that doesn't use the BBC in some form be it TV, National Radio, Local radio, internet, drama, the arts, comedy, wildlife programmes and documentaries. Much of which are sold all over the world. ALL for less than £0.40p a day. No-Brainer - Keep the BBC Licencing
