As someone who didn't boycott - yawn. I'm not bitter towards the stayaways nor bitter towards you GM for backing a clear failure in the shape of Rupert Lowe. Much as I'm sure you would rather have 100 STs watching us groundsharing with Eastleigh with Lowe still as Chairman, the rest of us are rather happy with our new owner thanks very much.
-
I'd have just Gus Poyet as manager. Charisma, well regarded on the training ground, knows this level, knows English football, media savvy, loads of contacts and would want the job I reckon.
-
Ferguson would be great and a next step if we were in the CCC but he could have spoken to WBA but didn't because he is very loyal to Peterborough's owner who has backed him well. Don't think he'll leave for another season or so and might get a PL role if he does as well this season as Martinez did for Swansea last season.

Holland - at Colchester on trial I believe and near the family home Todorov - good player but even Michael Svensson has better knees Matt Richards - think has gone to Brighton, snap him up if not. Dan Harding is on a free and I think is available still Volz - would be brilliant but unlikely to drop to L1 Scowcroft - could be handy as a targetman but again Colchester rumoured to be keen Mifsud - unlikely to leave Barnsley. Lambert - yes please Sodje - would be useful but Leeds watching Bennett - would be a decent free for CB cover
-
Not a great attitude allegedly - Gunn stripped him of the captaincy and booted out of the squad - and that was a dreadful Norwich side last season. I'd have preferred Douglas but alas gone to Swindon where Wilson has bought some decent players for this level.

I think this is a good shout. In the Prem with Wigan not long ago but took them up from this level and has also got Bradford promoted. Would not be surprised if he was on the shortlist. Coppell would certainly feature and would be excellent but not sure if he'd want it and probably doesn't need the money. I think Boothroyd would have applied, as would Cotterill but my favourite would be Gus Poyet and I think he would be very keen on the role.

Scary stuff and I wish him well. The survival rates for testicular cancer are very good if caught earlyish but secondary tumours are always dangerous but hope it works out OK.
-
Leyton Orient - shut Barry Hearn up. He is going to take some serious stick this season. Derby - last season's Pride Park win was good but I really want to cane them 5-0 or so Ipswich - teach Keane some manners Skates - enough said

No - otherwise we'd had a Big Brother style vote like Luton held a few years ago. The fans should be considered and how they would react to certain appointments but WGS would not have been a fans' choice and look what a success he was. However, boardrooms do need to think about the messages they send out. Stuart Gray's appointment after a whole summer of dithering smacked of last resort and Wigley's just said "we as a board of directors accept 4th from bottom". Dowie at Charlton was never going to work, nor Graham at Spurs.

Yep, a non-story from a non-newspaper. Rather like the sad Lowe thread that is on here - for God's sake mods lock that one - time for all to move on.
-
Yep, me as well. I'd also bring in Hildreth from Somerset who has a good technique and in-form for Cook who needs 12 months of work with Graham Gooch to get his feet working and relocate where his off-stump is. Failing that, Denly of Kent looks sound as well. Cannot see Cook scoring any more runs for England this summer (or any summer) without some help. Bopara is a risk but could just as easily score a hundred as a duck if he comes off, I don't see the same risk/reward with Cook, fine start though he had for England. Worries me how like Monty, he has stalled then declined in his development. Kabir Ali of Worcs is bowling 90-94mph regularly at the moment and taking wickets since his reuturn from injury and worth including in the squad.

Nail.Hit.Head - IMO of course.
-
That would be a bad move IMO. We need to hit the ground running with people that can recruit the right players quickly.

San Miguel is good and robust and Foxy - nice idea on the German beers. How would people feel about a wheat beer in the summer and perhaps in autumn/winter a dunkel?
-
Blooming great idea Trousers. You could also have other local produce - food - that the club buy-in. Might help us repair some of the damage with local suppliers. Most real ales would be difficult to keep (but not impossible if the club employed a local landlord/lady from somewhere like the Guide Dog as a consultant) and you have to keep the pipes really clean as well. However, Hopback beers may work as the yeast is very sticky and will take a bit more mistreatment. You could have semi-decent keg beers like Marstons Smooth as a compromise and perhaps a continental lager might be an answer. I can see the latter going down a treat at the Millwall and Brentford games in hot weather. The idea of "selling" the space to a chain like JDW is interesting though, it could be set up as a rental deal with the club getting an extra % with sales over a certain amount.
-
Might upgrade to a centre ST this time. Will be buying even though I'll miss all the midweek games due to work, it is better financially and whenever I haven't had an ST, queuing for flipping ages on the day in the cold is a pain.

Saw Bridges mentioned - would only have him on pay as you play. Stern John would be much preferable. Shame Douglas has gone to Swindon, would have been a useful CM with bite. Prutton is no way past it - still only 27/28 and was voted best player at this level season before last. Whoever said Ricky Lambert needs a gold star - Huddersfield won't pay £1m for a 27 year old but we want to get out of this league within 2 seasons and anyway, Jason Scotland was even older when Swansea bought him and he's just gone to Wigan for £2m at the age of 30.
-
I was surprised as well LS but ML must have had people in mind and I'm happy to back his judgement. If the previous allegations re: AO were to resurface - and that's assuming they were accurate rumours, unlike the Wilde/Lowe/Hone regimes, he'll be out of the door very quickly.
-
The guy deserves a chance surely with a clean slate? Anyone would have struggled in the hothouse the club has been in the last 5 years, particularly in Hone's time. Would you have fancied working at the club during the last 5 years with all the backstabbing?
-
Saga will be gone but not so sure about the others. Hope Lallana improves himself in L1 rather than taking another short cut in his career and with Rasiak you never know. I'd like to see John offered a deal, he'll score freely in L1 even if his legs are gone a bit for CCC.
-
Great news and sends a first positive message out from the new regime. It could cost £2-3m to replace him so it is like getting a high quality free transfer. Hopefully Lallana will take the mature option and develop his game with us and hopefully some good players coming in as well.
-
Need to get as near 400 as we can this morning. If Jimmy can block, Broad and Swann can have a hit. Would 370-400 be enough though? It's a very slow pudding of a wicket but there does seem to be some sideways movement.
-
Does he live in a semi-detached in a North Abu Dhabi suburb with his parents?
-
That is a very good point actually and why administration really hurts small and medium-sized companies.
-
Pretty accurate summary. Don't know if Wotte will be manager or will get an "upstairs" reward for loyalty. Annoying that Pinnacle have eaten into so much of pre-season preperation but we just have to get on with it. No sympathy for the old regime bar the rank and file fans like us who lost their shares.
