  1. Less Read.
  2. When a player like Gaston Ramirez explains on signing that he joined us "because they offered me a lot of money", it's unsurprising to hear that he might not be settling as well as we hoped. Sadly I don't think I'd miss him as much as certain other players. He's hardly the first name on the squad sheet.
  3. Ultimately it doesn't matter what Nigel Aktins says. History shows he took us into the premier league way ahead of schedule, and managed to steady the ship after a rocky early period. The fact that he did it by focusing on positivity rather than acting like a psycho with anger issues (Roy Keane, et al) just makes him that much better in the eyes of the supporters. Or at least, some of them. I know what sort of character I'd rather have for a boss.
  4. If Reading lose it won't matter to Nigel. 5 positives: Defeat to the team which Atkins took over at the bottom of L1, and subsequently 1. gained promotion. 2. gained promotion from the NPC. 3. reached a stable position in the EPL after a difficult start.... doesn't look so bad. Throw in a couple Adkinisms for 4. "here to win games of football" and 5. "all aboard the mad stad rollercoaster" Blue line. Look to the next game. Hope they finish above QPR.
  5. Agent Connolly is doing a fine job in giving them hope, which will be what destroys them.
  6. Didn't see Terry's push but Rickie habitually shoves people away to create enough space for him to score. I'm not complaining!
  7. Always fluffed the big occasions? Can only think of Reading last season.
  8. Crouch paid for the new Ted Bates Statue. I'd like to think he got to keep the original as part of the deal.
  9. and she is getting dumped in the morning... not sure how certain women can get away with habitually dishing out TMI
  10. Impossible... I thought it was official that we have the bestest, most musical singers in the world? ™
  11. Can't really blame you, there is something so rotten with the England set-up, and it's been that way for years. Too much hype, but the reality is there is so little to get excited about even with all the supposed talent available. If the impossible happened and one of our players managed to sneak into the national clique, the recognition would be nice... but I can't think of any Southampton player who ever benefited from being involved with England, so if they continue to remain under the radar, I'm fine with that.
  12. Or maybe it's some sort of satire directed at the behaviour Chris Samba had to face from supporters in Russia before he decided to flee to the relative comfort of QPR? Kamil Kosowski fanKlub? Sorry don't want to condone it, just find it hard to believe people would actually dare to dress up as KKK members and expect to get away with it. I don't really have a problem with a bit of papal p1ss-taking though.
  13. tbh I did have to think for a moment about whether the pope costumes would be more offensive than the KKK. Got to feel for these fancy dress companies as they already have a load of tacky tracksuits and Savile wigs they can no longer sell.
  14. Robbie Fowler mentions him in his autobiography amongst a lot of criticism of Houllier, who signed him. Early on in Vignal's Liverpool career he was told that he was getting dropped from the squad because he had a virus. He reacted by bursting into tears in front of everyone in the dressing room. Fowler wasn't very impressed. I thought he did ok for us considering the situation of the club at the time.
  15. All the more reason to despise Forecast.
  16. Five years ago Rickie sent us out of the FA Cup with Bristol Rovers...whoever would have predicted four glorious seasons to follow, with him right at the centre of it?
  17. TV microphones were picking up a few individual voices pretty well in the background, in particular one bloke who occasionally sang along tunelessly. Anyway at one point OWTSGMI was ringing out from another part of the ground, at which point one could clearly hear him say, "Listen to that... ****ing hell!"
  18. Allow me to make that decision for you. Whichever one produces gems such as Carrow Road's attendance averaging at 102.3% capacity... that's definitely the one to pay attention to. HTH
  19. Has he been phoning up McLeish every day and ripping the **** out of him? Does he even need to?
  20. Hope he's better than Fergie at recommending managers.
  21. Didn't we have a bit of a hullabaloo against another team in our play-off season for ball boy antics, I'm thinking Derby? Could be wrong. Just imagine if one of them pulled a stunt like this. We'd be foaming at the mouth en masse.
  22. Who needs Mourinho, we've got Mauricio?
  23. We say WIFM... How about WIFN?
  24. Somebody alluded to this after the Chelsea game, that Lambert was getting hawked around. I thought Pardew wanted him. But Adkins wanting to sell Lambert? It would have been strange news even without the benefit of hindsight. I think a lot of us felt fairly confident that Rickie was one of the few players with the ability to thrive well in this league.
  25. **** that, better not be true
