Proof that we don't need to fill SMS to expand...
Micky replied to doddisalegend's topic in The Saints
Based upon what you have quoted there, I think that the expansion takes them more or less to where we are now though. So phase 3 is probably only going to happen once they have concise evidence that there are well over 45K regularly trying to get into the stadium. I'm not against expansion - but continually quoting figures of what teams are currently getting is not going to convince me of anything. Quote figures of those standing outside, waiting to get in. -

This is my fear - I just don't see that you can host that many different events that are going to draw the crowds. I actually don't think that the 'multi-functional' ideas for the Olympic Stadium will last long either. By all means 'test the water', but don't go expanding until you've proved your customer base is banging at the door. -

Yes - but what sort of 'areana' events are they planning in hosting? A concert - a stage, speedway - a track, and so on and so forth. It's not quite so simplistic as we have a venue - I'm just not convinced of the viabliltiy of the staging or the fact that the events will prove popular and thus lucrative. -

We've done this before mate. It's not about the number of people who were in the stadium at any one point in time. It's about the number of people who were not able to get in. I have never seen any evidence of fans complaining in large numbers because they were not able to get into the stadium or the supply was stripping demand. Do we have a season ticket waiting list - how many fans have registered and are waiting to buy? Without the justifiable potential growth figures - expansion really is not an option. -

Going back to the original subject, I think it's somewhat short sighted to expand a stadium with the view to hosting non football events. As others have stated - setting such events up normally requires an awful lot of planning, coordination and changing in the dynamics of the stadium. Couple that with the obvious wear and degradation of the playing area, which obviously poses yet more problems. Also, how many viable 'arena' events do you need to come up with in order to make your money back - as Kraken stated - most such venues will only be licenced to and restricted to holding a certain number of such events. I think a good indicator will be the new Olympic Stadium. As I understand it once (if) WHU take ownership of it - it is to be a community stadium and hold multiple events other than football. Situated in London there should be no shortage of punters, but it remains to be seen: How many non footballing events will the stadium host and will they be successful? Will it have a detrimental effect on (what I suppose) it's primary purpose of hosting football matches? For me, I really don't think expansion for other arena events is really viable. Time will tell. -
Absolutely raging that there was no mention whatsoever about X Factor....

Tories allow foreign criminals and terrorists to enter UK.
Micky replied to OVER THE HILL's topic in The Lounge
In this day and age I don't see a problem with letting criminals and terrorists enter the UK. We really don't want to impinge upon thier human rights now, do we? -
Jesus Chrisssstttttt mate - have you not read the 'We're fixing the bog' thread over on POL...!!!!

Long long way to go - lot's of twists and turns to come yet. Somebody will come strong in the second half, form and injuries will play a part. Quietly optimistic - but will believe on the last game of the season when we are still 4 points clear.

Was well received by their fans as well. You do feel that Coventry are a club in dispair, having been there ourselves not so very long ago I can only wish them well. Hopefully they will find Markus Liebherr mk2, then again maybe not - there is only one ML..!

Thanks Steve, I'm currenly in Germany on business - the problem is with my home PC so will give it a try when I get back later in the week.

About the same we were paying Jan P a couple of years back? Perhaps, somebody at last has explained budgets to them.

It will be their cup final - we need to make sure they get nothing.

Last couple of matches have had a stern lesson in each - in the past we probably would've failed in each - however, this team took 6 points. Happy.

Hi, when I use Google Chrome to browse the site, I cannot post...! The site looks exactly the same as if I am browsing using IE9, apart from the fact that I cannot activate the text entry box in order to post on any thread. Nor are the editing icons visible in the text entry box. I can see and activate the 'See your signature' tick box, but that is the only interaction that I am able to initiate. I am using Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit, and have had no problems such as this on any other site. Have tried to post a screen dump - but it was outside of my ability...!!!! Anybody any clues, fixes - would be very grateful

Thanks hutch - although not quite sure what you meant there, it did prompt me to go through the menus. Found Active X Filtering ticked under the tools menu - clicked it off - all sorted. Damn kids playing on PC again...! That said - the problem with Google Chrome specific to this forum has got me beat. Wonder if any Mods / Admin have experienced this before?

Today when I started my computer I have messages on both SKY and YOU TUBE saying "You need to upgrade your Adobe Flash Player to watch this video". I have updated to version 11, rebooted the PC - but the problem is still there, hence I can't play any video content anymore! YOU TUBE also says "Upgrade to Flash Player 10 for improved playback performance" - but the latest version is 11 as far as I can see, which is totally confusing to me. Anybody able to advise or assist please? Also, when I use Chrome - the text box on this forum is not active - I can see it, I can tick the 'signature added' box within it - but I cannot type into it - again, and advise or help would be greatly appreciated.

Gambling being rammed down our throats ...
Micky replied to Bourne Valley Saint's topic in The Lounge
Totally agree. The lure to get people gambling in some form or other has swamped our tv ads recently. Totally necessary, and dangerous. Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk -
I wanted 3 points, a clean sheet, and 5 goals - but then again I'm greedy. Shame we appear not to have really capitalised on the situation - but 3 points is good, especially as WH dropped points tonight. Well done lads.
