So the Jan window is shut and it's now full steam ahead for the remainder of the season with a trim, young and together squad of players with the aim of 8th place in their mind and the carrot of the FA cup also. So what will the summer hold? Manager staying or leaving? Owner staying or selling up? A new CEO, but who? How big a war chest for new signings? Shaw et al leaving? One thing is for sure, it won't be dull. But being a saints fan never is!

Forward is the greater need. Big ask for an 18yr old to be the back up to Ricky. No real competition for him for rest of the season. Just hope he doesn't get injured.

Before the window I think most agreed our squad lacked depth. We have told the players not in our squad and sold a couple of fringe players. While this season is safe, there is still the FA cup to win. Have we trimmed the squad to save a bit of cash and to give the kids a chance while no real pressure? Or were we just clearing the decks before signing someone?

Wonder how MoPo knew about Holtby when it's not been reported anywhere. Did we enquire I wonder??

But all it takes is for one of Shaw, Clyne or Chambers to get injured and then we have no cover for full backs at all. Anyway, who knows, we now might get a full back on loan to cover Fox leaving..

Leaves us light of cover for Shaw. Although who would join knowing they are going to be backup for Shaw?? Unless it was on the basis they will be first choice next season......

So would imagine deal(s) done tomorrow then if squad travelling Friday?

Could also say getting players in now gives them half a season to settle to the premier league and southampton without the pressure of relegation etc... Then come next season they are raring to go..

Loan him to Italy and sell in the summer. Loan another forward in and buy a replacement in the summer.

Being ex Everton would he go to Liverpool? In terms of league positions there wont be many (if any) above us that would need him. Although it's money that matters and someone like WHU will probably pay all his wages to get him.

Lescott and Banega on loan for the rest of the season will do just fine :-)
