  1. In the Premier League at The Dell the 'yooooof' used to be cosigned to the reserve games (anyone who went to reserve games at The Dell will know what I mean!) but now we're lower down, regularly have tickets and seats available its all changed.
  2. I was just looking for the Derby game online! Has anyone still got it? I think I remember texting about 20 people a profanity laden 'Get In!' message on every goal that night, not to mention all the ones I received during game... Amazing night, shame it ended so badly but thats what this thread is about, the emotions, the feelings you get. It was definitely charged that night... As for the Derby inbreds.... they are from the same school of delusions of grandeur as Charlton and Pompey fans. It was hardly an isolated case of complete buffoonery - they were complete dickheads when they came down to SMS on both ocassions..
  3. Not necessarily related to being at a football match, but I remember scouring teams message boards for hours before ther Derby away game and seeing that practically the whole country wanted us to beat them after their kick-anything-that-moves tactics of the first leg....
  4. Would have loved to have been there for that one!!! I suspect Camara's v Naaaarwich will come up somewhere on this thread...
  5. Yes mate, this thread was with reference to you and our conversation! I think it may have been just after that Skacel missed.. Oh, what could have been The highlights... the commentator saying "It just had to be him!" as Rasiak slides along the turf... brilliant... the only time I'd ever joined in with the rather mundane 'Yellows!' chant...
  6. Steve, I never knew you switched across to Mac and, because I value your opinion (and not Essruu's, lol) I would like to ask you for it: So, do you much prefer Mac to any Windows setup now? Any drawbacks, limitations in your opinions?
  7. I'd recently had a conversation with a friend regarding those moments, as a fan, that are simply irreplaceable. The moments of pure ecstasy (or agony, if you're a masochist) we endure as football fans. THAT feeling you get (or got, especially when we were at The Dell) for an evening game... the smell of the putrid fast food, the icy air or perhaps the smell of the grass. For you, what memories (good and bad) do you remember the most? And of course, what are your favourite recurring feelings attending and watching football matches? I'll kick things off: Fondest memory in recent history - The Derby playoff final, away when Rasiak slammed home the winner (or equaliser on aggregate.) Tumbling over bodies, people you don't even know hugging and embracing, screaming at the Derby fans and giving them the obligatory (and deserved) ****** gestures. Worst memory in recent history - Any of the humblings from last year with a team full of youngsters blessed with technique but not the necessary guidance to succeed in a tough league, capitulate. Recurring Feelings - Like above; the icy air and the whole 'pre-match' routine (that said, the pre-match routine differs from person-to-person.) Conversely, some of the balmier, early fixtures at the end of Summer too. The smell, the sounds, the familiar sights... Gah, you can probably tell I'm looking forward to coming home this Xmas and watching the Saints at home for the first time in ages, freezing my arse off and paying out of pocket for refreshments in a packed, shivering concourse)
  8. I would estimate we would take 3,000-4,000 to MK and stand a very good chance of filling SMS if scores are balanced and the pricing for the home leg is reasonable.
  9. I'd imagine we would take our full allocation, regardless of the price and the festive season - likewise at all the big teams we would. We'd struggle (all things considered) for games at Stoke, Hull etc but I honestly don't think we'd take less than 1,000 to a Prem game if we were up there. The good news is we'll be able to my theory soon "Sleeping Giant" LMFAO.... I remember the Skates using that turn of phrase.
  10. I'm with 'The 9' on this one. Whilst it doesn't affect majorly effect anything, to have someone continuously run onto the pitch after every game will lead a group of rather less-than-endowed-in-the-brain-department-mongers to think that it is acceptable and, undoubtedly, they'll copy. In turn, another group of less-than-endowed-in-the-brain-department-mongers will probably copy them and eventually, the club will be fined because of it. Oh, and its pretty ****ing pointless if the game is essentially meaningless.
  11. But surely being as deluded they are about so many things, then why are they so realistic about their **** team? Surely they think they can beat Chelsea?
  12. LMAO - I can hear the excuses now: 'It's xmas time' 'Just been to Sunderland away' (er, that will only apply to 150 of your fans then, LMAO) 'Chelsea tickets are expensive' blah blah blah - The fish fiddlers should be enjoying the Prem while they're still in it - they ain't going to be seeing it again any time soon....
  13. Makes sense, coming from Naaarwich. I bet all of their squad are called 'Martin'
  14. Bart :smt055:
  15. Anything but the regurgitated X-factor crap for me. I don't even like RATM but I'm putting a tenner in. X-factor stands for everything that is wrong about the music industry.
  16. Spot on with your likes of Kamara, and I overlooked Souness. - could never fathom why he never made much of manager because he does actually make a helluva lot of sense. very insightful. Must be cursed like Hoddle - great coach, tactician but a terrible man-manager....
  17. Master Bates, I think I've just witnessed your wettest post ever. Very philosophical though.
  18. I am always of the opinion that the better a team plays, the more chance it has of winning. I don't ever buy the 'playing crap and winning is a good indication' card because I simply don't believe it. However (!) I do consider that a team can also be considered as 'playing well' by the effectiveness of their performance (not just the aesthetics of it.) To 'play well' doesn't necessitate a team to one-touch their way through a game. To 'play well' for me is how 'effective' we are as a team. Are we in control? Can we raise it a few notches if we have to? Despite not playing pretty, are we still creating chances? are we taking them? Do we look threatened? Is the workrate there? For me, a team 'not play well' is a team not creating chances. We might not be playing as beautifully as we were earlier this season but we are creating chances. To me, that's playing well. Afterthought: Oh, and anyone who has played football can tell you that it is possible for teams to occasionally 'dragged down' to a lesser teams' level.
  19. Agree with many of the above also: Robbie Earle - pointless... just pointless. Alan Smith - if only for droning monotone voice. J Redknapp (yup, for knowing everything) Don Goodman - not particularly offensive, but just changes his tune on everything during a match 'Oh Bristol City have dominated' 5 minutes later 'Coventry have had complete control of this game' Andy Gray - SHUT THE **** UP Nigel Winterburn/Martin Keown - please guys, stop killing me with your collective charisma Motson - is so bad now he just makes sounds when he can't figure out the words he needs to say. Embarrassing. Alan Green - jumped up, arrogant ****. Shearer - was obvious he was going to fail as a manager. Clive Tylesley - Man Utd apologist. I do like Peter Beagrie, Lawro, Hansen, Claridge, Ian Darke, Le Tissier, (without bias), Merson (so stupid, it's funny) and I actually don't mind Phil Thompson. The ultimate 'lol-pundit/host' has to be Jeff Stelling, naturally talented....
  20. And you're right about Reading... from 8,000 to full capacity crowds in the space of one half season.... and back down again. Mockneys...
  21. Whoops, forgot Derby... would still like to smash them on the way back up. Good call on Toon, I know they used to have shocking attendances... and the way they turfed of Sir Bobby was terrible, but in a way, they got their just desserts. same experience with Bournemouth... one minute they were asking for bail outs, went down for pre-season following season and I'm called a scummer relentlessly... talk about trying to pander up to their big brother Pompey...
  22. Just reading through a couple of Middlesbrough message boards and their stupidity ignited my dormant hatred of them. Alot of them already want WGS out and after reading through their ridiculous, reactionary drivel my attentions turned to the other clubs I dislike. So, for me it's: Boro - passionless, idiotic nasty group of fans. Charlton - absolutely deluded bunch with serious delusions of grandeur. Bizarre 'big club' complex, despite not being a very big club at all. Pompey - I don't think I need to list why... Bournemouth - I repeat - they are not our 'cute little brother' with give pocket money to; they are a nasty, ungrateful little chav half-brother who comes begging when they've figured they ain't got a pot to **** in. Liverpool - Rafa Benitez, that stupid ****ing ****** tannoy announcer and Steven 'Roy of the Rovers' Gerrard. Oh, and having a minutes silence for everything. Man Utd - Darren Fletcher, Alex Ferguson. Blackburn/Bolton/Wigan - I don't know, but I never feel inclined to watch a game involving any of those three. Maybe its the fact their stadiums are seldom full. Ipswich - Roy Keane. Plymouth - fans with delusions of grandeur MK II Talking of which... MK Dons... I wouldn't dislike them, but I cannot stand Paul Ince. Same goes for Darlington... can't stand Steve Staunton. Conversely, got a bit of a soft spot for Blackpool (Holloway - good manager, love the tangerine kits and also a team punching above its weight), Stoke (Beatts 'n' all, fun to watch), Forest (Billy Davies, good manager + a few ex-Saints like Stoke), Newcastle ( I like them again now Shearer's gone - great memories of weekenders there)... So... which teams (other than Soton) do you look out for? And why? (both good and bad reasons)

    Bart

Yeah... thats what I remember of him. He looked a fantastic prospect than that injury completely buggered him up. He was much, much younger back then but seldom looked over-awed. I really hope he can get back to his best.
