  1. Marco Silva, eh.
  2. Hi guys, thanks for the recommendations - been a great watch! Slowly getting better been back at work for a week now but still think I should be sitting round watching these. Dunno if I mentioned it but I did watch One Night In Turin - didn't realise how savage our press was back then!
  3. Why hasn't THAT picture been posted yet?
  4. Gents, once again thanks so much for your kind words - does mean a lot, especially when I've had a bit of a bad day like today. I'm kinda thinking on the positive side though; where I am now in comparison to where I was last week is quite remarkable in terms of basic functions. I still can't cut my toe nails or put socks on but I am getting some sleep now and as long as I don't do anything too strenuous, I can pretty much manage the pain. That said though, the residual feeling of hopelessness hasn't abated yet. I guess it's just time that'll heal both mind and body. I hope I'm well enough to go to Iceland next friday, but I do have my doubts. I can't seem to walk around or stand for any length of time without pain - all this despite being jacked up on naproxen, codeine and diazepam. Hopefully, this week will see a bit more progress. Hadn't realised there has been so many people with relatively similar injuries! As I said before, felt quite lonely shuffling around my family and friends whom I didn't really want to engage in chat about my morbid, sorrowful injury. What's been heartening though is the amount of people who seemed to have come through the other side relatively ok, however long it took. Thanks again, all.
  5. and another scores every type of goal....looks handy
  6. just a rumour I heard but he might be in action tonight for MLS side Atlanta.. obligatory YT showreel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oMKDEp8kdaM
  7. Gents, thanks so much for your replies really appreciated. I've not personally had an injury of this severity before and to be honest, I feel utterly gutted by it all, wracked with worry (what with the tingles, numbness and pains etc). I've heard that the road to recovery may not even be a full one and that there is no way telling, especially in this formative stage, how long it'll take to heal. I've read that some people have been quite fortunate and were operational and functioning relatively normally within the first 2-3 months, others have said it's taken a lot longer or worse still, they are still suffering after some considerable time. I'm just getting my head around the fact that it could be a while for me - and I'd never thought I'd say it but to not be at work has been an absolute nightmare; mentally, as I'm not engaging with people, just sitting around and lattery because of the immobility factor. It all feels a bit lonely at the moment and whilst it is nowhere near the levels of pain I had last friday, it's still excruciating at times and has me doubled over. Heat/Cold treatment seems to work fairly well, but like everything, it's a temporary solution before the aggravation and pain kicks in again. It's weird; I've never been a position where it's agonising and long-winded to dress myself, shower, eat and sleep and have taken those necessary but innocuous things for granted all these years. I'm pretty sure I'll be pretty darn more appreciative of being able-bodied if/when this eventually settles down. I take it no-one here had surgery? Obviously that's a route I don't want to go down but the most frustrating thing is I cannot even be put in for an MRI until at least 6 weeks since it unfolded. Sadly, my BUPA doesn't cover diagnosis so I'll either have to wait or stump up the cash to go private for that (which I might do as I'd rather know what I'm up against for definite as opposed to continue to have osteopathic treatment and/or take medication for the incorrect problem and potentially do more damage than good.
  8. Seeing as I'm pretty immobile at the moment, does anyone have any decent football documentary recommendations? Just watched one night in Turin - didn't realise how savage the English press used to be! Oh... and anyone seen this one yet? https://youtu.be/CWxEFaeaGd8
  9. Hi all Just wondering if any of you've slipped a disc in your neck before and how you coped with it? Currently in day 7 of this quite extraordinarily painful situation and I'm chomping at the bit to get back to normal life as I'm meant to be going to Iceland next week for a holiday. Barely slept all week but picked up some diazepam today and that seemed to knock me out pretty good as well as help with relaxed my tenses shoulder. That said, the whole lack of mobility and comfortless existence is still taking its toll. Additionally, had done work done by an osteopath which helped immensely, though within a few hours I was doubled over again. Any ideas on timelines on these things? (From personal experience)... any advice gratefully received
  10. Anyone got the latest saves-to-shots ratio? Unless we've been letting in worldies all season, I'm pretty sure our no.1 is the worst in the PL by a country mile.
  11. Stephens has done admirably considering the circumstances. Didn't see him and yoshida do an awful lot wrong ... conceding three goals from four shots isn't a surprise though with FF in goal, even though he's not exactly to blame yesterday defensively. The only thing that strikes me about the current centre back partnership is a lack of leadership and when up against big lumps like Zlatan and the Watford strikers they aren't strong enough to win the 50/50s. Anyway...what an attacking display going forward. Exciting, incisive and Gabbas movement is absolutely top class. We've got so many exciting options going forward that it'll be interesting to see what we're like with a top class GK and van dijk back. Hopefully that'll happen next season. Oh, and I'll probably bet on our games as 'both teams to score' from now until the end of the season... should be printing money!
  12. All those people who got slammed for daring to say Boruc was a better keeper....
  13. Proper goalkeeper. The odd brain fart, but was excellent all round
  14. He didn't lift the team though, did he? He barely had a shot to save for about 10 matches with the exception of Arsenal away.
  15. I cannot stand Fraser Forster but I really wouldn't be swapping him out for s complete unknown quantity. His highlights reel doesn't exactly inspire confidence... just seems a like a smaller, stockier Forster. No real goalkeeping ability just seems to get hit by the ball. Fingers crossed McCarthys not too far away
  16. For the older posters, is the injustices of this game going to be held in the same contempt as the Heath/Everton scenario? Always hear it talked about but never did see it/experience it
  17. Oh, and I'm going to use one of my three posts to say Paul Pogba is a f()cking d1ck.
  18. Absolutely gutting, still can't watch any re-runs but I will, eventually. You can bet your bottom dollar had van Dijk played, United (and specifically Ibrahimovic) would have had a considerably more difficult time of it. As it was though, to a man (apart from Forster being typically sh1te and Tadic being a bit anon), the team were superb and it's hard to be anything other than disappointed at the injustices but immensely proud of the performance from the team and the fans. Did anyone get that familiar feeling that we wouldn't win it at times during the game, despite how well we played? It was just the incredible amount of times we got the ball into a dangerous area and it was plucked away just in time, not to mention the moment Romeu hit the post. That moment did for me, I just thought United would go and nick it after that. Irrespective, we kept on going and still had plenty of other decent half-chances that got scrambled away, it was effectively a siege at times. And the other moment was the cross from Herrera.. the moment that ball left his boot you just knew it was over, though, for some reason, it felt that the ball hung up agonisingly for longer than possible; you knew the inevitable was coming and there was nothing anyone could do about it. Horrible feeling. That application and intensity has been amiss at times this year but despite the injuries we've had to carry and the injustices we've had to contend with, you can be nothing but proud of that team. I said to my dad at the start of the match I just hope we aren't "brave losers" again and whilst my nightmare scenario unfolded, what a performance. You really couldn't have asked for anymore.
  19. On another note, we have completely dominated
  20. Three shots, one dodgy save and two conceded. Terrible defending for the second goal didn't help but he really is terrible
  21. Another piece of classic Forster goalkeeping
  22. He reminded me of a really really **** Steven Taylor. And he was ****.
  23. Nicola Cortese > Wang Jianlin > CITIC?
  24. Woah, they seem like serious movers and shakers
  25. I had him down as Tercera with a smattering of Primera Liga attributes. Anyone else?
