Precisely. When he was given free reign and had the remit to get us back to the premier league, allowed to run at a loss etc he did brilliantly. This cannot be denied. But when we got there and perhaps the owners wanted to know where the increased revenue was going, why a £15m training ground had cost double that and why despite a feel good factor like never before around the club to go hand in had with our rise he was making less commercial money than midtable championship sides. That much was alluded to in the opening statements from the board where hey said a priority was to make more of this revenue stream.
-
You hear correctly. He was great at making promises and spending money, when it came to making money, not so good. Which is a bit of a problem when you're a CEO.
-
Clearly just an excuse. He's seen the money the others are on, wants a bit of it himself but can use that line in an otherwise disgraceful interview to say 'well I would have stayed of they'd matched my ambitions'
-
If he was told the minimum aim was the Europa league at least, you know that cup competition that was beneath us according to many on here, why did pochettino speak so openly against it?
-
We're not trying to rape them diggers.
-
He's a big lad and not bad in the air, plus he takes a good throw in so his distribution is good with his hands. Our new keeper?
-
Say no or demand £50m a leg or something before we talk because if Rio Feridnand cost £30m in 2001 then Dejan Lovern must be worth at least £150m now.
-
No idea Phil
-
I'm not sticking up for Stubo, I'm outing you as a liar. As I have done with him may times before. You had a dig at the UI for no reason and stated something that wasn't true, so stop squealing about it and admit you lied.
-
Come on Brett stop back tracking. You either making yourself look thick as pig sh*t or a compulsive liar., he said the fake kit posted on twitter was hideous, it is, he also says the training kit is hideous, it is. He wrongly says cortese commissioned the twitter kit which isn't correct although simon peach did say on twitter the other day that was the case. However there is not a single post does he say he or anyone else day they don't like it because of cortese meddling. You're either too thick to understand the difference or lying to make a point that doesn't exist.
-
Brett cares so much he's started making things up that people post on there
-
I'm not sticking up for him so don't try using that as a get out. I'm saying you're lying which you are. Absolutely no where does stu or anyone else say they don't like the kit, let alone not like it due to Corteses meddling. You lied and you've been pulled up on it.
-
Ahh of course, so now it's gone from some people on the ugly to just stu in a post that no longer exists Or Maybe he continues to express his disgust along with the rest of the forum in the 'new kit' thread where where in the OP when he called the kit 'nice' or in the next post on the thread where he says 'amazing what a feel good factor respecting our history can give' and everyone else posting agrees it's a nice shirt. '******* smashing' 'best kit in a long time' etc etc not a single negative comment. Oh no! Let's Ignore those Brett and you keep pretending that people on the ugly don't like the kit because of something to do with cortese.
-
So where exactly does he say he doesn't like the kit we have due to Corteses meddling? Here's a clue, no where. You made it up.
-
I hear Liverpool are turning their attention to Jonathan Waters if miss out on Alexis Sanchez. Man United also strongly linked with Chris brunt.
-
More lies, I couldn't give a f*ck what stuey says about anything, he's been proven on numerous occasions to be a bull*****er. People didn't like the fake plain red kit that was posted on twitter and said, wrongly, that was the kit that cortese would have had us wear, which wasn't true. They said that was cortese meddling. Pretty much everyone on the ugly, even those that don't like stripes like this kit. Your post saying they don't due to cortese is bullsh*t.
-
Complete lies Jamie.

It's good to see another reference to climbing Everest, we've not had one of those for a while. So for the ambitious posters amongst us, how are we to fund this ambition? How are we to match the £100k a week Lallana is meant to be on at Liverpool and the £160k a week Shaw is rumoured to be on? It's easy to post on a computer about the club lacking ambition and if only we were more like richard Branson, but where is the money coming from to make this ambition real? One thing is for sure, with commercial income Lower than Watford, cortese wasn't planning on funding it through sponsorship deals.
-
That's because they spent the money badly and appointed Alex MacLeish as manager! We've appointed a decent manager and now It comes down to spending the bit pot of money wisely. In an ideal world you'd keep your best players but once champions league sides want them and wave £100k under their noses you can't compete and it would suicide to match their wages. It's now about how we spend the money. Pelle and Tadic for £16m in v lambert and Lallana out for £25m looks good business to me. Now it's down to Koeman to make it work an replace Shaw.

Aston villa lost downing, Young and friedel in one summer. That not long after Milner and Barry both going. Yes it's unusual but it's also unusual for a club of saints size to have 5 or 6 top 4 level players.
-
Maybe they haven't had massive offers and their players offered huge wages all in one go? Itll be interesting to see what happens will Barkley now man city are predictably sniffing around. Are Baines and Howard really top 4 standard? Howard was at Man united a few years back and let go. Baines is 30 in December after his World Cup hardly going to have top clubs banging at the door. We do seem to be unfortunate in that we've lost 3 good players at once but all deals were good for the club and what's to say long term in might work out from the best. get shot of those that don't want to be here and think they've out grown up and get players in who do want to he here and build again.

Lallana completes move to LFC for a fee of around £25m
Turkish replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Who said anything about putting them above Barcelona? You said if you asked people to name clubs from Germany and Spain then they wouldn't mention Dortmund or athletico Madrid also that their fans would never have dreamt they'd have had their success they've enjoyed of late. implying no on would have heard of them until recently and that they are small clubs done good. You are wrong. -

When you say 'most on here' do you mean you, as up until today you clearly had no idea Dortmund get 75000 every week and athletico are the third most successful side in Spain? -
Remind me which players Everton have kept when been offered multi millions by champions league clubs. I can only think of Baines in the last 10 years, there must be dozens more I've forgotten about Brett as they've given it a bloody good go ain't they.

To be fair anyone that claims Dortmund and athletico Madrid are minnows who no one had heard of until a couple of years ago deserves everything they get.
