I do love those who try and spin how half of our team are league one players. Conviniently forgetting that whilst in L1 and the Championship quite a different picture was painted. Whilst in league one and the championship I recall some posters claiming Schiniderlin was putting in 'world class performances'. That Davis and Lambert should be in the England squad. That Lallana was the best player we'd and since Le Tisser. I recollect Fonte dropping down from the Championship, Pardew describing him and Lambert as players who can play in the premier league! This was lauded at the time. Moving onto the championship, Hooliveld was a great defender we were told. He must be, he's played in the champions league! And who could forget the golden claims that League one saints would beat England and that man for man our championship side was better than our cup final side in 03, possibly our best ever team! Now all this seems to have changed. Now the reason our £30m worth of talent is in a relegation battle is because the rest of the team were L1 players only 18 months ago. The fact that they are should be England internationals, champions league players, world class performers and amongst the best players and teams we've ever had is forgotten. Now what can we expect from players that lost at Wallsall less than 2 years ago? Keep going, keep spinning, it's very entertaining.

I for one am delighted to have him here. He is an experienced footballing man and will undoubtedly have learnt from his mistakes in the past which can only be a good thing. He's clearly a guy who knows what he's doing as the fA gave holm responsibility to write their coaching manual once. I would say on balance his involvement here can only be a good thing.
