No, no, i do it get it. Man Utd, Rooney gets injured, what then? Chelsea, Drogba gets injured what then? Barcelona, Villa gets injured what then? Injures can happen, thats football. These clubs dont have poorer like for like replacements sitting around waiting for someone to get injured and collection a big wage. They'll adapt their system to suit the players. Having a bloated squad full of "cover" players is not the answer. Having other formations, 4-5-1, todays 4-3-1-2 to compesate for injuries and suspensions is. What would you rather a smaller squad of 20-25 good players, or 35 average ones? Adkins has said he will sign players better than we have, not just for the sake of it, which i whole heartedly agree with. No point signing a player of the standard we need to sit on the bench in case someone gets injured. It seems we wont be having the old policy of "one for the squad" like we did in Lowes day with 35 average pros and we all know where that got us dont we, or perhaps you'd like a return to those days,?a massive squad low on quality. Or prehaps we might be better following the transfer policy of successful clubs who do sign players better than what they have to continue to progress, although maybe you know better than Fergusson, Guardiola etc? And your doubts about the team are based on what? What is your first hand experience of seeing the squad in action to form this opinion (which you bleat on about in every transfer window) that strengthening is essential or promotion will not happen?

Every club in the world needs to strengthen, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Man Utd, Chelsea etc will all look to strengthen all the time. It doesn't mean that Barcelona aren't good enough to win the champion league now, it means that teams are always evolving, developing improving, there is no such thing as the perfect squad. In the same way we are good enough to win L1 now with the squad. So yes we do need to strengthen but if we dont right now it's not a disaster as what we have is good enough to win promotion. Is that clear enough for you? I know it's been a tough few weeks for you what with us winning 4 in a row and signing our best player up on a 4 year deal.

At the end of the day Adrian, there is no point getting wound up by it, because Alpines opinion is irelevant. He bases his opinions on match commentries and what he reads on here. He has zero fist hand knowledge of any of our players, team or performances, in fact i do wonder when the last time he saw us play live was and indeed if he has ever seen any of our players play. I find it wierd that someone with so little first hand knowledge of the subjects he constantly discusses has such strong views but despite his vocifirous and arrogant views and postings his view means f*ck all as it is all entirely based on perception and heresay not any solid personally gained knowledge, therefore IMO, his comments mean nothing.
-
How do you know? When was the last time you saw the team play? How can you have a balanced & realistic view on something you have never seen? Also there is no such thing as buying plays makes the title a nail on certainty. Just ask Chelsea when they sign Shevckenko and Ballack and Man City now.

I dont recall, i dont remember every post, especially not ones from 5 months ago. I do remember your constant bleating for us to sign back up for him though, appears we aren't doing to badly so far without it and with him not being on form or fit most of this season.
-
Not it isn't and no one said it wasn't. However we are 2nd (might be 3rd now) with him out of form, just think where we will be when he hits top form again.
-
it is good to have another formation other than 4-4-2 the players look good in. "the hole" has long be said to be Lallanas best position and looking at Gully think probably his as well, so why not use our best player in his best position, particularly as he is now ours for another 4 1/2 years.

Bang on mate. It is a fact that every club in the world needs to strengthen, no manager will ever think he has the perfect squad and it cant be improved, if one does then he should be sacked for being so complacent. You are spot on with what you say though, if we dont go up he can say "i told you so" if we do he can say as you said "it would have been easier if we'd strengthed" So yes we do need to strengthen, like any club in the world, but our squad now is easily good enough for promotion. Anyone that knows anything about football can see that.
-
Quite possibly the gayist thing i've ever seen in a football ground.
-
I cant believe you are being so arrogant.
-
Shhhh, it's not allowed for Alpine to be wrong.
-
Would you prefer a Blackpool win to a replay?
Turkish replied to Fitzhugh Fella's topic in The Saints
i am amazed so many "supporters" want us to lose. -
They are going to be in for a shock, can't see his being the messiah, poor team, been out of the game for 10 years or so and not great in his last job, he did well there 20 years ago as a manager but so did Ron Atkinson at Villa, dont see their fans demanding his return.
-
He was on a hiding to nothing, team massively in decline, they were poor under Benitez last season and it was always going to take a couple of season to rebuild. In my companies head office in Cheshire most are Liverpool fans and they didn't want him from the start feeling they deserve Jose Mourinho type managers. I dont know who they think is going to go there but given the state of the club and how far behind the top 5 or 6 they are now they wont be back in the top 4 for a long time, they will expect to though so the next guy will face the same challenges. Feel sorry for the guy but if its one thing managers dont get these days, especially at clubs like Liverpool when expectation is so great, is time.

none will ever beat the Neighbours storyline of Harold Bishop getting washed away at sea and disappearing for years, then turning up in Ramsey Street years on as a scout leader with total memory loss.
-
indeed, he said himself when he had only been here a few months that Saints couldn't get credit anywhere even though they could prove they had money in the bank and the club was now under new ownership.
-
You are hilarious, taking part of a sentance and highlighting it to "prove" you argument. A genius twisting of words and grammar, but what else can we expect from someones whose opinon of players is based on what they read on internet forums. As for these "ridiulous statements", who is the judge of this? I suppose recognising a football is good is a bit like knowing a bit about cricket and recognising that Steve Smith is a poor number 6 batsman for Australia and Glen McGrath was a superb bowler and with him , Warne and Brett Lee missing from their bowling, their attack was much weaker than the last time we played there, but you know all about cricket as well dont you alps.
-
And you accuse others of arrogance! Anyway having looked through your posts twice now for a response and still not being able to find one, maybe i have lost the ability to read, so in the interests of helping the arrogant and illiterate, can you remind me your opinion on this 9 goal a season striker.
-
I found the sex change boy or girl thing on Hollyoaks so shocking i sent a strongly worded email to Channel 4 telling them i would not be watching it again until he/she was killed off.
-
Talking of which you never did tell me your opinion on Dennis Berkamp.
-
Right so saying someone is an idiot for not recognising a player is good is not a similar comment to someone making a comment you dont agree with and saying they are talking boll*cks? okay then! In addition, can i assume judging by your prediction after day one of the first ashes test we will lose 5-0 you are an expert on Cricket as well as football?
-
you must trapse through every thread you boring c*nt. Why haven't you done an enthralling thread like "whats your favourite insect?" for a while?
-
surely by saying they are talking b*ll*cks you are questioning their football understanding?

Great avatar.
