Yes i can thanks all the same, until three weeks before he died, my Grandad used to stand under the West Stand at the Dell as he did from before the First world War as a child, taken by his dad, my Great Grandather, in fact on one of the old books (Full Time at the Dell) you can see my Grandfather in a shot of the crowd. Likewise my mum went until about a month before she died until she was no long physically capable, my dad is still a season ticket holder as are my brother and sister. My dad took us all to our first games, mine in 1985 as an 8 year old. I just find it surprising, that in the 6-9 months or so that you have been on my radar as a poster on here, i canot recall a single post on football related matters. Surely someone as intellegent as you with a mastermindlike knowledge on absolutely every subject would be able to offer some sort of attempt at educating some of the savages on the main board with your indepth, articulate, well reasoned, researched and undoubtebly correct views on all things Saints and football, any reason why you dont?
-
that a lot of the Lounge superstars, BTF, Verbal etc rarely, if every post anything on football. As this is first and foremost a football forum are you actually Saints, or indeed football fans? Do you go to matches? Or do you just use it as a social club and in some cases, a means to try to convicence yourself and others, of your intellgence and superiority complex.

I've also seen teams keep up the form and run away with the title. Who knows.
-
and because there is a very good chance given current form that they could win the title that day.

a little while back some bloke gave me a w*anker sign so I slammed the anchors on, stormed to his car, opened the door and got hold of him in a head lock, grabbed him round the throat and screamed in his face, he was a weedy little lemon, i scared the sh*t out of him i think. The gobby little mug wont do that again in a hurry. Plenty of people around who obviously realised what a tw*t he was for doing that so they just left me to get on with it. What a total cock.

What would you rather have - 3 games in hand or 5 extra points?
Turkish replied to kpturner's topic in The Saints
I'm with you, our 3 in hand over Huddersfield are Charlton home and Plymouth away, should wins and Rochdale away, could win, i'd back us to get at least 7 points from those three, on this occasion i'll gamble. -

if we can repeat our form of the last 10 games, 6 wins 3 draws one loss, then that should be good enough. -
7 games left, 3 of them against the top 5, two of them away, i wouldn't say that is a decent run in!! Seriously though, when you watch two teams you have no real interest in apart from one of them is in "our" spot, you realise how poor L1 is, an awful game.
-
when Hudderfield and Peterbourough currently in second and third two and one point ahead of us repectively only have 24 left to play for and one of these games is against each other, then no, it isn't right.
-
That only applies on here if your beliefs are the same as everyone elses. We've had this before, all these self righteous and self titled tolerant people on here are only tolerent if everyone agrees with them and sings off the same hymn sheet.

it might be 4 this season, Play off final at Old Trafford, lets hope not.

It was Alan Ball not LM. He basically said what i have said above, Saints let him speak to Man City, made no attempt to keep him so he thought he they weren't arsed about him going, he said if Saints had stopped him speaking to Man City or asked him to leave he wouldn't have as was happy here.

thats quite an accusation to make, what is it based on?

we are going first two weeks of June to Kefalos, a few people we know have been there and said it's really nice.
-
just about to book a couple of weeks in Kos, which has come highly recomended and off to Rome in September for a long weekend, hoping to slip another weekend away in as well. Oh and doing a sunday and monday night in Devon first weekend of May, going to a see a football match where one of the teams will be securing promotion that day.
-
LM was DOF when Bally was manager in 95, they didn't knock back Man City when they wanted to talk to him so Bally thought they weren't arsed about him leaving. A few years back he was very open and honest about this at a Q&A session at half time during an Everton game which was live on telly, it was held in Brannigans down the bottom of town.
-
Who thought he was? Jonno quick is our man for promotion, if he doesn't pay a significant part in our promotion push i'll suck my own cock.

for the benefit of everyone involved this is best off left in the past and doesn't need bringing up again. Everyone involved has moved on from this now although sadly it seems some of the OB cant and are still victimising and stitching up one or two lads trying to get them banned again for doing nothing although thats another story for another day.

That is one of my earliet memories as a saints fan. I was 8 years old at the time and it wasn't until 7 or 8 years later that i looked at the results that season and thought "f*ck, we could have won the doulbe that year" I can only imagine how great that 83/84 season must have been, the win at pompey, watching the best team in the country week in week out, and being that close to doing the double, i just feel lucky to have know that, albeit as a child, we were and still are a great club.
-
one of my earriest football memories were us losing 1-0 at Everton in the 84 semi, then beating them 3-1 in the league a week or less later and asking my dad why we couldn't do that on saturday. I was 8 years old at the time and the memory of that week still rings true, at the time i didn't realise how close we were to the double and how good we were as a side, but one thing it did mean was that i was a saint forever.
-
A classic post from someone that knows F*ck all about football and SFC, in this post you have summed up why this forum means f*ck all to anyone that is clued up and watches Saints home and away.
-
Look at the teams that have beaten Brighton this season, they have lost away at Bournemouth, Huddersfield, Sheffield Wednesday (when they were in the top 2) MK Dons and Hartlepool, top 6 sides now or at the time so the only one you might consider a slip up was Hartepool, but even they have a decent record against the top sides in this division. I dont hear any "one of those days" or blaming the linesman, or individual error excuses for losing at Wallsall, Swindon, Carlise, Tranmere at home to Brentford and failing to beat Charlton and Yeovil coming from them. It keeps on happening with us against these sort of teams yet you lot all seem to make excuses. The cold light of day is we have consistantly failed to win games we should have won and them made excuses or even worse put it down to "one of those days". We wont win every game and we will slip up, but it is happening all too often. This was the season with no excuses, yet some of you seem to be happy to be unlucky runners up, if lallana or chamberlain are out for any length of time then we have another ready made excuse if it costs us. The season of no excuses has rapidly become the season of many.

He was quite good at Exeter, the next home game he was shocking though and seems to have been every time since then. We were warned!!!
-
There are only 30 points left for us to play for, we need 13 more points than you over the next ten games, aint going to happen. You probably only need another 3 or 4 wins in reality.
-
I've this to death on another thread and i dont agree that we played well at Wallsall from someone who was there. We didn't deserve to lose but the stats dont tell the whole story. We created 3 or 4 decent chances in the first half and should have been a couple up at half time but in the second it was desperate stuff. Most of our attempts at goal after half time were into a crowded goal mouth or humped high into the box hoping for a knock down, the longer the game went on the more hopeful we became, we created very little in terms of chances and whilst Wallsall had the luck on the night this was a side who only one other team in the whole of the country had lost more than at home at time, we should have won and won easily. There is pattern to our performances against this type of team, Yeovil, Tranmere, carlise, Charlton, Notts County, swindon, Brentford all games against poor opposition which we should have won but didn't. It cant just all be coincidence and that every time we play one of those sides they've got lucky. Compare our results to Brightons against these lot and they simply dont lose these sort of games, you cant tell me they have been any luckier or unlucky against these sides than we have.
