  1. One hopes Surman's confidence has not been affected by so many of our best chances in the last 2 games falling to him. 2 points may well, and some may say, could, have been 6! I feel for him as he no doubt feels it more, with him being home-grown and raised (if not born) locally
  2. To be fair, all 3 are guilty as charged of rearing their heads at some point. We all know, though, which one you feel this statement applies solely to. (yawn)
  3. Saga does seem to be a player that scores in patches. With Charlton & Watford up next then a return to scoring is most welcome. Heck, another hat-trick at Wolves at Easter would not go amiss!
  4. Not sure how you can say this when he scored something like 6 in 5 in February before going the last 4 without remotely looking lke scoring. Any shock would be in his own self belief Would suggest to me that he is someone that is hot when he is hot, and cold when cold. Much like the initial loan period, then pretty much the entire 2007/8 season
  5. Surely you would want to bowl a beamer if given just one delivery?
  6. Spot on.
  7. This could have been written/said in nearly every one of the last 20 years. It would be nice though if we were not put through the wringer every year, but it also wouldn't feel right if we were not
  8. McCormack headed the ball down. It was very close to Davis (down towards his feet), giving him very little reaction time. Being so close it was not one of those "showy stops" where he could spring and push the ball away full length. To get down, adjust and push the ball out past the post from the middle of the goal was simply fantastic. I probably have seen better, but not many. However, it was fully deserving of the standing ovation and spurred players and fans on alike to put in a great shift. I therefore think it was more what the save symbollised as much as owt else. Then again, he has been regressing of late, hasn't he ;-)
  9. Though he had one of the better, if not best, away record of any saints manager. He really is a difficult one to assess. Are there any stats on our manager's and away records? Anyway, the 4-2-4 of Nicholl for me (Tiss, Shearer, Ridout, Wallet). The Halcyon days spent on the under east terrace
  10. Again, I refer to my question which no one has commented on, and that is I thought that the 5000 or so were not staying away because of our league position but because of our plc and football club chairman? Is my understanding of "the view of the majority of this board" not correct?
  11. I think you missed the point in actual fact. Your location is listed as "Southampton". So rather than being at the game demonstrating the passion MLT shows for the club, you were sat at home on the sofa thinking "I wish everyone had his passion for the club."
  12. yes - lets all show our passion sat on the sofa of a Saturday afternoon watching Soccer Saturday. With that passion we will surely survive
  13. I did not think that our league position was why 5000 are said to be staying away
  14. Its great that we have the Saga back that we had when he was first on loan. Not the one that ran out much of last year when Stern carried the burden of keeping us up.
  15. I don't know if the formation has changed that significantly. Reading Wotte's comments post match he suggests that Saga, Euell & McGoldrick played as a 3 (which we have played all season in one variant or other). If you believe the views of boarders we have been poor all year and haven't reached the heights on last season's "success", whilst also being too tippy tappy and trying to play our way out of this league. The flexibility of the system we have employed all year has seen us look like we are playing one up on their own, two up top together, and a front 3 - sometimes in the one game. What he does seem to have done is play a round peg in a round hole with Euell playing much further forward. Euell yesterday looked like the player i thought we signed 18 months ago. Again, all his subs yesterday made perfect sense. Wotton for McG to put in an extra body to the midfield to close the game out; BW for Saga as a fresh pair of legs; and Liptak to replace the player furthest away from the bench. Football as they say is a game of opinions. Mine are just less melodramatic than others
  16. No - the ground temperature shouldn't ever get low enough due to proximity to the river. I must also live in another city as there is less than an inch of snow yet no one is able to move around the city due to the conditions. Little wonder this country is in such a state. Can't be far off being placed in administration as country, let alone as a club.
  17. At present very few sides bring anywhere near enough to "suck the ball in the net". also, the home fans in the Northam rarely stretch to covering the whole goal, so likewise would not do a similar job if we kicked that way. Saying all this, there is ntohing stopping fans sucking the ball in 3 times in the first half, making the second one academic. Its not like we kick to the Chapel in both halves.
  18. Surprising that Euell seems to make nearly every side with one feeling he is "a given", esp a his nickname on here is "Mule"? I tend to agree with SuperMikey's 1st XI, though would probably play with Saga up with BWP lying in a deeper role, maybe interchanging with Lallana & Holmes in the wide roles. I think a rigid 4-4-2 is a little out-dated these days.
  19. As I said, be the hero. Make Lowe an offer.
  20. This is my reading of the proposal too. The way it has been written would make it sound like part of the conditions are that Lowe & Wilde agree just to hold their shares and will not act as a future obstacle (perhaps even their suggestion ??). It would the allow them to look for buyers for their shares separately, or for someone to come in and rid them for good. Come on Mr Davies, this is your chance to invest and buy out Lowe - something he always siad he would only do on the pre-condition that Lowe was not invlolved in SFC. He can be the hero now and run him out of town. This could be a development of massive significance
  21. If it is that difficult to support the team for 90 minutes, then don't go. Save yourself the money.
  22. Whereas yours is hilarious! You haven't actually contributed anything to your own "discussion" since your original inflamatory supposition. at least I have - once the title was sensibly changed. I highlighted that whatever you accuse someone else of applies even more to yourself You could have demonstrated that I have you wrong, but alas all you do is draw more attention to your hypocracy.
  23. are you going to scream and scream and scream until you are sick? now stop your stamping and go and sit on the naughty step
  24. There goes those toys! :-)
  25. Now that we can debate Tiss' comments sensibly, I agree that normal thinking at boardroom level has not been witnessed for longer than I care to remember. we continually bounce from one senseless, avoidable, farcical affair to another. Someone always has to be pressing the destruct button.
