  1. I think that probably started in '75 when i attended my first Saints match;)
  2. I will answer this in the same manner as i did when i responded on the post match thread........ "Do you not think up until today we have seriously under performed, both collectively and on an individual basis? And with some of the changes made,Puncheon out,Harding out,Morgan out, that some of the players were not performing for Adkins? i include Lambert quite obviously also. But as fickle as some are i'm sure you like others will think all is rosey as we have just beaten Peterborough. At last it seems we could combine playing well and getting the result, the key is now consistancy. Well done Adkins and the boys, keep it up. Big Game Tuesday, don't throw away any good work done, any improvement, however small is a bonus. I will however refrain from wetting myself over this long over due display coupled with the result."
  3. Don't change a winning side unless enforced by injury or otherwise.
  4. Oh,i'm here fella. Do you not think up until today we have seriously under performed, both collectively and on an individual basis? But as fickle as some are i'm sure you like others will think all is rosey as we have just beaten Peterborough. 5. Fonte makes a howler, his high standards have dropped also, imo.
  6. Not even on the subs bench apparently. Such a shame for a good performer last season. Another rapid dip in form from a 1st team regular last season.
  7. Correct. Harding has lost so much form compared to the way he was last season, bloody fine contribution last season, imo. Another that has lost his way recently. Seems to be a running theme just now.
  8. Dickson in along with Barnard
  9. Morgan on the bench,Harding out of the side completely
  10. Meh,i like someone with a bit of meat on 'em.
  11. Well, you are wide of the mark. I was simply enquiring of those who seemed to be stating as fact that Adkins was going to succeed, he was the best young manager out there and we were lucky to get him, again posted as fact by many. Are they still of this mindset, although i'm sure those that are will fervantly deny any such claims were made. I'm sure i have made it obvious of my stance,so therefore i will not keep my head down. Even with victories over the next two opponents will not change my view, his appointment is flawed in the longterm. And i strongly feel that divisions, unrest and the lack of progress by our squad, which in my view is being highlighted by the very poor displays and performances by some of our players, will continue. If you look at various ongoing threads at present the momentum is growing that some players should be shipped out,the same players that were performing well last season, something has changed, and not for the better. What appears to be going to happen now is that there will be a clear out and he will be bringing in his own players to play his style, well i hope for his sake that is the correct way forward, good players do not become bad overnight,it is now approaching the busy xmas period and a time to strengthen not a time to try and change a squad to adapt to your particular playing style otherwise it will be more time wasted. Prerhaps he should be utilising the players and playing them to their strengths, which served us pretty damn well last season,we were dominating sides regularly and we seemed to go into games with a very strong belief we would not be beaten, and invariably we were not beaten. The side at present do not look capable of the fluid free flowing football that was advocated by Adkins and those that championed his cause. He is going to tinker until he gets it his way which will mean wholesale changes, shame really i thought we had a side more than capable of taking us forward, the clock is ticking,so come January perhaps the 'new side' will take time to gel oncemore. He will not strenghthen, just simply shuffle the pack to suit his style, which in the longterm will prove us to be weaker. Christ our side is full of quality players for this league and we are underperforming thus far, something is wrong and it is not just the players. I sincerely hope i'm wrong and he succeeds,if so i will eat copious amounts of humble pie if so,but truthfully any half decent manager should have us playing so much better. He will of failed miserably if we are still in this league next season,he is in a lose lose situation,if he gets us up that was the minimum requirement, doing it playing well is another matter. Come on Adkins, give me cause for optimism please. Plus,i need the points in the prediction league. I could not give a toss who does not agree,it is a forum for opinioins.
  12. Lawrie Mac is my employers(charitable organisation) ambassador and does one hell of alot of work to raise funds. As does Iwan Thomas,Le tiss,Paul Jones,Franny Benali,Claus Lundekvam and Shaun Udal and Mike Osman. Infact Southampton Football club have made a real difference with the work they do over a considerable time. I believe they might be making a presentation tomorrow at half time,if all goes well.
  13. And relegated once IIRC.
  14. Well,he can use that as an excuse but what about the rest of the underperforming lot. He is under contract to us i pressume so therefore his loyalties and what he want should fall by the wayside until otherwise...but it's football is'nt it,players can do what the hell they like when they like. Perhaps it is his way of showing he is generally unhappy, just like some of the others. Perhaps he misses Pardew, that was made clear to be a crucial part of why he came here. In fact, quite possibly that reason could be aimed at a few of the underperformers.
  15. Quite disappointed about this move. It is a move that will weaken the squad, imo, one that is hardly setting the world alight as it is. A suspension or injury to key players and this crucial period coming up will be made all the more harder. Puncheons form last year i deemed to be really quite good and effective, yet this season thus far seems to have dipped considerably. I think you can add others to that list,Harding,Jaidi,Shneiderlien,Fonte, and most prominantly Lambert...considering the majority of the side is built around players that were all in the league one side of the season last season, many are not fulfilling thier roles adequetly. Who would've thought that perhaps major surgery is required to the playing squad at the end of last season....i certainly did not. Why are these players not performing? If Puncheon was causing unrest then he has to go. Lets hope others are not too unsettled.
  16. It is getting a tad nauseating with the constant comparisons being made to the bloody Diana engagement all over the media. Shes dead, move on. Big balls up using Dianas engagement ring, this will only serve to perpetuate the bloody Diana comparisons. Will's, i know it was your mother but this move makes me more inclined to think you want comparisons to be made between Kate and Diana. If i was Kate this would not sit comfortably with me either.
  17. We won't be able to get any flags out be it the Union Flag or otherwise, the ethnic minority and the PC brigade will put a dampner on that, just like it being frowned upon celebrating St Georges day with flags and bunting,i mean.....how dare we.
  18. I'm glad you think all is well,we are playing some great football and Adkins is beyond reproach.
  19. Thankyou for your contribution, brilliant. If you do not like the thread topic, ignore and move on. If you don't agree with the OP,state your reasons, don't just have a pop. I hope that got your attention. It is a legitamate question, and it seems some of the more cognative posters manage to post their views. You are what is wrong about a forum.....checkout the meaning of the word forum and heed it, perhaps you may be able to contribute.....or maybe not.
  20. Some swift moderating going on here.
  21. I will be very surprised if he is given 18 months.
  22. I am interested to know what those who thought Nigel Adkins' appointment was a 'masterstroke' think and if they remain steadfast in this opinion still. This is not a NA bashing thread at all,i can assure you. I have made it obvious that i am more than disappointed thus far. With the players at his disposal he has not made the inroads i would have hoped. Some will say the results speak for themselves, but if you dissect those performances, the oposition and the style and manner in the way we have played we are underperforming. This is not a knee jerk reaction to yesterdays result,as some will know i have had this view from the moment he was linked with us. His form at Scunny was fairly impressive with the tools available to him,but this in no way gave him the credentials to show he would succeed at SFC. The messiah like status he was given even before a ball was kicked in anger was somewhat strange to me i have to say. I think he can get us out of this league...eventually,and i sincerely hope he succeeds. But i remain unconvinced he is the man to follow through the supposed '5 year plan' To coin a phrase 'underwhelmed'. Retires to bunker.
  23. See this is what i find baffling, some people cannot find a happy medium,it's either/or scenario. How about playing well and fullfilling the potential with the players at NA's disposal, just like he should be.
  24. But it is'nt really one game is it,we are playing well below par,and have been for sometime.
  25. I sincerely respect your opinion,but...... in my view we are so far off being a great team it is untrue. Who did he takeover from? Dean Wilkins, under his tenure we were very poor so it was hardley a surprise there would be a slight up turn in performance considering the upheaval after Pardew left. you are correct we will not win every week, but i expect us,with the sqaud, coupled with all that goes with it we should be much much better on the pitch. He has done nothing to upset me,i just want the best for SFC and i do not think he is the man for the job. The bloody blind 'materstroke appointment' and 'superb manager' 'in Adkins we trust' ******** from the moment he was linked is vomit inducing. He took Scunny up twice,so that means he took them down once...wow,thats the best credentials ever to take the helm at SFC ISN'T IT. Scunny and Saints are completely different animals, where is this fast free flowing football with width people were pontificating he would introduce? We are in no way better under his stewardship than any other manager that was linked with us,yet to some he is the messiah, even before a ball was kicked in anger. All imo, which i,like you, are entitled too.
