Hoping for the best, obviously. Managed to repeatedly beat MK last season so hoping the same tonight, a good win following Cortese's master stroke to push us on following beating Bristol 4-0 by removing the entire backroom staff. Hope it's not the Nigel Pearson effect. I don't think it will be that bad but I'm mightily worried about players leaving come Jan. Good luck Nigel. COME ON SOUTH COAST CLUB!! Hope the "committee" sign you some good players on loan!!

Cos tossers like m i nge love destructive Chairmen & don't like anyone criticising them. They find it easier on their fragile ego to live in delusion & attack any anti-chairmen opinion by burying their heads firmly up the CE's bottom!! It's quieter up there!! LOL Nice to know the witch hunt for Pardew & rumours emanating from London had no basis, if I'm allowed to use my judgement & opinion. Even I thought some had substance, I apologise. Look at the facts, 4-0 away, squad improving. Entire back room staff removed, huge slump. This is looking more & more like the Lowe tenure. Moron thinking he knows better. What is it with Saints & feckin trusted advisors who have achieved the square root of f*ck all themselves?! There's a reason for that...FFS Let's hope Nicola's new "YES MAN" gets off to a good start against a team we beat repeatedly last season (4 times?). I'm worried about players moving come Jan. Must admit.

You're not wrong. The Sky comments about 50 managers, all so clearly, CLEARLY spin. LOOK HOW POPULAR SAINTS ARE cos every member of the tabloid press don't think that same! We won't have a clue, like many of our transfers or suggested appointment although some rumours which haven't been mentioned much on here I can believe...that's just my misplaced instinct but we can always do a Barcelona Saints and quote incidents a la Poorvliet agent or whoever gobbed off at the airport all that time back!

I'd not bother dude. I think he just likes to argue! I would say, the above, are the symptons of an obsessive compulsive, disgruntled flibbertigibbet!!

Said the same myself. A very good friend and I had this same conversation almost word for word. Appoint Keegan and we will win the league. Anyone else I question not because of their lack of ability as a manager (the physio comments are crap cos look at Morinho), but with the player power, ability to bring in required quality Pardew managed (and keeping players like Lallana and Chamberlain from having their heads turned!) and the set up and relationship with Les Reed and the football committee. I have to say, I don’t like the sound of this and it sounds frighteningly familiar. I thought we’ve been here before (seamless link to first team, “revolutionary set-up and shared power *cough* (Hopeless Wotte, Yes man Portaloo) as Tijuana Tim’s lady so eloquently put. Thought the exact same thing and gutted someone beat me to say it. Have we not f*ckin learnt? Despite the Premiership manager b*llocks and PR agency spin about 50 managers applying on Sky (yeah, no hopers like Brown, Chris Coleman and other failed Premiership managers as well as the washed up idiots floating around since the Spring!), it’s all complete sh*t to help swing public opinion and make the appointment IF IT IS a name like Adkin justifiable, then b*llocks to that. I question the funds and 90% of the b*llsh*t rumours out there if Adkins is appointed. Why can’t be just have some f*ckin transparency. Is it cos it wasn’t Fonte’s missus involved in an indiscretion, maybe someone closer to home? Or is that another red herring...not according to some staff but Nicola will have no idea who. I’m not even going there. Too much sh*t being slung. Back to football - Keegan would be one of the few names who would make all this bemusement, confusion and misinformation disappear. It would become insignificant and Cortese would win back support. I honestly cannot see anyone else (unless pie in the sky optimism like Cantona or O Neil is to believed, we're clueless!) having that mesmeric lift on the club and squad as Kevin Keegan. Have we been here before? I mean, this juncture, cross roads...on this platform? Reminds me of Strachan days, when we had the chance to push on, make a difference. What happened? Errrrr, cheap, no ambition, penny pinching incompetency by Lowe. I hoped Cortese was different. One key factor – ambition. Second factor – money. However, much has happened since last year and now it is put up or shut up time. We are in the position to rise from the ashes or wither and die. Do what Lowe didn’t, have ambition, invest wisely (not feather your own nest to the detriment of the club), appoint wisely as it will pay dividends (or wasn’t that Rupes! LOL) and the stadium will fill, results will come, as will promotion and success. Take a risk, back off or gamble on a rookie (as has always been the mantra for Saints and small clubs...”let’s just not get relegated!” Inspirational FFS!!), then we could stumble and fall...EPIC FAIL. Come January if we are not on the way up, I guarantee you we will start to see players have their heads turned and leave...Lambo, Fonte, Butterfield (short contract which he will now be thankful of), Morgan...Chamberlain. Then it will be much harder to bolster as the club will have earned an even poorer rep, forgetting the stadium, facilities, fan base mantra. Money does talk but we want more than that. A team mentality, not a mercenary one with uncommitted players! However, if the ambitious promises of Cortese are to continue (and be believed) following Markus’ investment in the club, the squad, academy (is it ongoing?) and untimely death, we need proof by action, not spin. As a club, we’ve been promised too much and had little delivered. We are grateful for being saved but we are past that. The promises to continue Markus’ dream combined with the financial support of the family were reassuring words. I suggest reassure the fans with a statement of intent and a shrewd appointment to guarantee promotion. If not, questions will be asked. Justifiably. We’ve hardly been showered with information and feedback. We’re a community football club, not a feckin’ investment bank. You will fast lose support if you don’t show respect. Many a Chairman has fallen victim to fan power and long may it continue. Fans make a club, not just financial clout from a Chairman or benefactor. Errrr, based on his opinion, Keegan's success rate and being one of the best man managers our nation has produced. Whilst Keegan has his faults and can tend to walk when the heat rises, he seems a great candidate for the job and a big name, which would raise the profile and god knows we need it after the actions of present and past chairmen...then there's the obvious point that he WOULD fill the stadium and put bums on seats. I can't see Adkins or another rookie gamble like Howe doing the same. Therein lies the problem. The extra cost would more than be repaid but maybe Nicola doesn’t want quick promotion. He wants to meddle. He wants a “Yes Man”. Have we been here before? All scary, all too familiar. Someone succinctly put, it would dissolve the hangover and mourning from Markus' untimely death. That is a good point as the atmosphere Saturday, like the football, was cr*p!Like a morgue. Nervous, tetchy, quiet, souless, intolerant and narky. One miss-hit pass and the crowd are OOOING, EFFING and BLINDING! Not conducive to sparking up a nervy team needing a lift, for whatever the reason. We want results. SUPPORT and ENCOURAGMENT offer a welcome boost. Wish we'd realise that although some passing deserved the odd sigh! I think most on here would see the sense in Keegan on so many levels, you've just got the hump. Whilst CB Fry can be the most sarky person on the forum and tends to enjoy jumping on fools heavily, he often has a good point (can't believe I'm saying that) if not a little smug at times. We all have our faults! He is certainly reasoned, whether right or wrong. In this case, he is right, you aren’t. Call me arrogant but I call it confidence!

Heard the exact same thing, during a meal it was discussed, someone close to Cortese (without giving away the details of who). All very vague & deniable. Apparently the enigmatic Frenchman is wanting to cut his teeth in the British leagues to prepare for the United job but I don't believe it. People would have said & he'd certainly get noticed. I'd like either but hope King Kev (he'd get to see Sarah Marie & it's the more plausible & possible)

This thread has descended into pages & pages of absolute b*llocks. Move on. This forum is fast losing whatever credibility is has left due to trolls & just too much futile, meaningless sh*t & wind ups. Some people do like proper, grown up, football talk! Big words & everything! It used to be fun catching the odd rumour on transfers, managers, etc. Too many pip-squeak kids online no doubt! Tskkkk!!! School term can't come quick enough.

Probably cos O Neil is strict, disciplined & pulls no punches. I like Martin O Neil a lot. Very clever bloke. Modern day footballers didn't like it cos they probably had to work a little bit harder than Anthony Mc Numpty at Club X up the road for the thousands/wk pay cheque. Or the brutal truth was too much for some of their fragile football egos after being told they were the best in their team throughout their childhood! Managering top level clubs is a tough, tough, highly pressured job. O Neil did a fine job at Villa & deserves credit. It's all too easy to criticise but he is a class above IMHO. Sometimes, the face just doesn't, whether with the fans but more importantly , with the chairman. Being Saints fans, we should know that better than most!!

Whilst the crowd irritated me a bit yesterday, Puncheon needs to learn playing the early, simple ball, composure & SHOOTING!! Chamberlain played superbly yet one over-hit pass & he was instantly hit with jeers. Pathetic. That's not going to spur young players on, the opposite. I sometimes wonder what goes through the head of fickle, clueless fans. Whilst I'm not defending the team after a woeful performance & terrible finishing, our fans were quiet, only piping up with frustration & jeers. Singing "One Alan Pardew" was futile & offers the club/team no benefit whatsoever. Cortese does seem a bit of a tosser but people need to consider where we'll be if he has enough & leaves, with the Liebherr family's financial support.
-
Pardew ain't off to Villa anyway. Houllier being appointed! I'd not believe any rumours until the ink is dry. Cortese clearly likes to keep his cards close to his chest although I don't see all the benefits to the fan base running the club like an investment bank. I'd hoped we'd got rid of one dictatorship under Lowe but seems the financial world breeds people lacking empathy & humility.

Official Statement from Cortese about future
Gordon Mockles replied to Give it to Ron's topic in The Saints
TOTALLY agree. It's why I don't bother (and threads have been dull bar HCDAJFU) and most older posters have departed. Certainly a few I know personally. Hence Saint Bobby's call for a community again. No time like the present. For Markus, For The Club...get a win Saturday and start the ball rolling! -
He definitely deserves a fitting & permanent tribute. After all, the legacy he's started will continue for years...RIP kind fella! x

The Official Summer Transfers and HCDAJFU Thread
Gordon Mockles replied to supersonic's topic in The Saints
Orr was one of my shouts ages back. Totally forgot about him. I am hoping in these next few days we sign someone. Without doubt, vitally in centre midfield. It is scary silent but we have ambition & want to go straight up this season & not strengthening 2 key areas would be more than foolish. Defence is sound. Midfield. A winger or makeshift attacker &, of course, back up to Rickie & we have strength & depth. At the moment, we are desperately short of ball winners in midfield & the opposition will know this. Games can be won & lost down to who controls the middle of the park. Only having Wotton & Pulis as back up is totally unacceptable to a team of our ambition. Pick the right player & it will galvanise our entire squad. -

People always go on about this. It's a passionate game and managers, like guys falling out with mates at the pub, do fall out and they do make up. Maybe Pardew and Wenger have a running grudge but I doubt it. I don't think it was anything more than a heat of the moment spate between London managers & ARSEne's refusal to shake Pardew's hands cos, like Fergie, he's a spoilt brat, a sore loser and a bad sport at times (like many of the top managers, sulky and not being accustomed to losing!) -
Slow news day? I don't see anything suspicious other than an injured and upset footballer maybe saying things in an emotional state of mind (if the break up rumours are true!) and a fan desperate for some gossip reacting to said emotional outburst. Once Adam has calmed down, if at all true, I think you may find this is more a comment in reaction to some hurt feelings....we've all been there! Bless him!!

Some travesties of justice. Particularly around kids & twisted sex offenders which bugs me when they can be harsh & impose sentences when they want to. Not that I really give a sh*t about these fans as they're still morons & trouble making tossers so they made their own bed...I'm more annoyed when people like those that attacked that pensioner (in front of his GRANDSON!) get off so lightly. People like that should be hung. Not kept by the tax payer as a burden to society. Judging by some reports & exposes on prison life, you have to question the entire ethics of the criminal justice system. Rewards & luxuries to serious criminals...NO! Thugs getting harsh sentences. Not ideal (esp. for those without a record) but it sets a clear message. Don't fookin' do it & don't get involved!

I'd love to see Papa Waigo back but sadly can't see it. We won't get a player like him in again. Has anyone confirmed this rumour of Papa coming back or being with the squad in Switzerland or is it just another made up internet rumour? -
He would be an excellent Director of Football and ambassador for the club! Couldn't think of anyone better...other than Diego Maradonna (for comic purposes & seeing how he proposed to entertain guests in the Ambassdor's Suite! Actually, he'd probably be banned for his party antics within a week! LOL)

Manji...what a c***!! Seriously. You really mean all that?! To be fair, your consistent. You've always posted sh*t & have the opinion of a conplete c**k!! Maybe you'd be happy then if your partner had a baby & was told to come back to work immediately or face being sacked?! Hardly legal either. That's assuming you like girls. Maybe not. You're certainly up Cortese's arse! Call me Mr Fussy but I like the way our club is run but I'd prefer a chairman that actually had respect for people (both staff & fans) & not holding everyone in contempt & over-reacting over minor news items. It's childish. A few leaked rumours & it's back to media black out almost. Not quite but communication has been poor. Not shying away from unfair dismissal cos you've got loads of money, good lawyers & don't care isn't really a good message to the community!
