The stadium was built with capability to increase the capacity as was clearly stated at the time. Some sweaty company (Jocks), same that did Derby which is very similar to ours. The same model. I didn't work on St Mary's personally but the company I was working for were the planning supervisors. In fact, I still have the original drawing plans somewhere as I do for Wembley & Emirates. Interesting projects. Apologies for the name drop but had to say. Definitely capacity to increase.

Transfer deadline day thread!
Gordon Mockles replied to Ivan Katalinic's 'tache's topic in The Saints
Not quite over. 14mins & counting. Tick, Tock... Won't find me stood aimlessly, pulling annoying faces behind the reporters (although they'd clearly be no Sky reporters outside our ground like at Chelski!) -
Yeah, but our television record, especially Sky, hardly showers us in glory! ;0)

Definitely officials with an agenda to favour Notts County. From the outset, 2 bookable fouls against Saints. 1 equally hard Saints challenge back...instant yellow. Then Oxo wiped out on the touchline & various Lambert holds & linesman doesn't even react or even flag when under his nose (Kingsland). He managed to pick up most of the infringements made on County by Saints second half. Funny that. Yet another joke ref & useless officials from League One..

Guly really isn't all that quick. Average at best. Morgan & Puncheon quicker. Oxo obviously. Guly's not slow but certainly not as quick as his bandy physique suggests & posters on this forum purport.

Fantastic news. Throughout my childhood I longed for a board to run our club for sporting success (finances come hand in hand if you make wise decisions). Running Saints with at least a modicum of ambition & a smidgen of competency rather then self serving parasites of yester year. Finally, we have a wise scouting network, up & coming manager & a chairman that realises the steps for success & owners supporting our dream. Not rocket science but when absolute imbeciles steer your ship, we've seen what can happen. Thank Markus he rid us of that cherry cheeked tosser! Heart warming to know we've a strong squad for our current league & that of above & looking to strengthen. New training facilities coming in the near future & FINALLY a Chairman that actually realises holding onto your youth talent shows significant ambition & intent for the progression of the club & is paramount to success. To me, it's the biggest gesture of ambition & intent I have seen from Saints in my lifetime & that fills me with hope. Well done Adam & well down Saints. Onwards & upwards...

LMAO That's one that it certainly would never, ever be!! Cunard/Carnival would be ideal. Local, high profile business with leisure industry customers & huge scope for mutual beneficial marketing. Ideal & perfect in every way & both currently on the up with Carnival doing extremely well. The entire cruise industry has gone nuts these last few years with Independence, Celebrity do da & all the cruise liners being churned out.

Don't understand everyone's problem with him or is this another case of senseless internet bandwagoning?! He's only a commentator. Was good enough on Radio Hants. Must admit, he struggled with some names in the line up during the Exeter game New Years Day...more worryingly, Saints players!! LOL I think someone was a bit delicate & hungover. Certainly didn't sound healthy but can forgive that. Mark probably drove him to drink over Xmas!! ;0)

Up any sec on South today. I hate Sally Taylor! Seems crazy he's never given an interview in 1.5 years!!
-
What is that Hammond obsession? He was awful bar one decent challenge. Static second half. Not even running for the ball. Morgan no better. Much rather Chaplow. Missed him a lot. Fonte saved us on multiple occasions. Shame the ref couldn't!

Countdown conundrum: Teh rfeeree si a wknaer. Shocking officials. Is handball now allowed in League One? Chop us down. No pen. Time wasting. Fine. Cynical fouls. Huh? Decisions against us for being barged...outrageous. Where did they dig up this special class of idiot? Even the lino made more wrong the right decisions. RNIB League's Association. Frustrating!

To be fair, I don't think it matters much. The forum has died a death & with the club being run like an investment bank rather than a community club, I know many (non web-based fans included) that have got bored or are starting to lose interest & go infrequently cos there's not much news or interest generated other than club propaganda. Have to say, I agree. I go & watch but the buzz from forum gossip, reserve news, youth prospects, transfer targets/news & staff appointments or academy news is almost non existent. Come on, a club of Saints size & ambition with little weekly news? Unlikely. PR agencies, David Bick springing to mind, are employed yet they've an easy job as they can't have to do much. Their brief seems to be to stop any outgoing information rather than supply it. Can't be easy to keep this quiet but I'm bemused by the business merit. In fairness, forum users bicker so much & trolls stirring gets so tiring, no wonder people give up. I've noticed an unrelenting, very unreasonable & arrogant attitude by a significant faction of our fans too. One misplaced pass & it's jeering & shouting. Pathetic. No wonder Adkins tries diplomatically commenting on it. Top chap!

I think that's the wrong attitude to adopt. People on here are still effectively customers & people, including admin, are quick to rightly criticise the club for lack of updates. I realise it's not full time, paid work but there is income & expenditure therefore a level of service. Maybe viewing figures are low because news items are vastly out of date & rarely updated. Maybe most use the site for the forum in which case, discontinue the news feed. My key observation being that neglected web pages just become obsolete. People give up checking on non-maintained pages. Worst being 'site under construction' or static pages without at least a weekly update. You wouldn't keep picking up a week old Echo to read. You'd chuck it in the bin or cast it into the paper basket wilderness. Same applies to the new cyber aether of web pages & news feeds. Love it or leave it.

To be fair, I struggled to understand much of the article. Some bizarre English language hybrid! We're scoring but wasting a hell of a lot of good chances. Puncheon alone must be approaching double figures. Even during Pre-match shooting practice I've seen striker after striker & attacking mid spray balls everywhere bar the net. They weren't as poor as Tranmere but it was a dull game. Oldham took their chances better than we generally have this season despite the result & ref. Kelvin doing what he does best, immense point blank reaction save much like another ex crap kicker (Paul Jones).

Saints Have offered Adam a Big Wadge, Apparently.....
Gordon Mockles replied to Secret Site Agent's topic in The Saints
If it was a word, which sadly it is not yet people still like to morph "gigantic" into "enormous" to make up new words. Stu*****s!! ;0) LOL -
The good thing about having an invisible 12" shlong is you can stop and give yourself a nosh whenever you want. Even on a crowded football pitch!! Ouch!
-
Or the game of headers and vollies with football boots to replace the ball!!
-
Apparently it helps if they are actually eligable to play in the Tranmere match and not away representing the Under 21 national squad!
-
Chaplow - signed a 2 and a half year deal - OFFICIAL
Gordon Mockles replied to SuperSAINT's topic in The Saints
Just what we need and hope he does well which I don't doubt and switch to a perm move. Very industrious box to box midfielder from memory and what I've been banging on we need for a long time (along with many others I must add!!) Competition in midfield too as Hammond has been hit and miss for me (neither defensive nor gets forward and to get goals) but Chaplow is a Marsden (baldie!) type player. Workhorse. If we manage a back up striker and/or winger I'll feel totally relaxed. Glad we're moving forwards...finally. In Adkins we trust! (loved his comments criticising the long ball, hoof and hope play and the need to play wide, posession football....how refreshing!!) -
LMAO Good come back. That actually made me laugh out loud. You do have your moments!!
-
Good post & the feelings I share. Couldn't put it better myself & I've probably not put my point across so well recently due to frustration but things need to change. I hope the newspaper u turn is a small glimpse of humility & not just realisation of a mistake. Hoping a bit of both! I too share everyone's financial concerns. A decent signing (or loan with purchase options) would relieve my doubts. Staplewood plans proceeding too. Actions speak louder than words...or spin!
-
Errrr, cos it's a freakin' forum doofus! Makes me laugh when people peddle that line. FFS LOL Got ready for this season? Really? If, as it SEEMS (heard it enough last season) Cortese was looking for anything to remove Pardew, why not do it close season rather than feckin' up this season as he's evidently done. Doesn't take Jonny Ball to realise if we're serious about promotion, we can't keep dropping points. May as well be -10 judging by performances! It's s handicap. Cortese & Markus did well last season with funds. New season, different prospect & a much lighter squad lacking firepower (as evident) & we've only signed defenders & an unknown load many attribute to Cortese.
-
Was it 4 times we beat them under Pardew last season? Nuff said!! I realise Adkins has only just arrived so due some leniency but you've got to question Cortese and his catalogue of stupid f*ckin decisions, culminating in the winning *cough* move in removing a decent manager that had done well. Won us a cup, nearly hit play offs. Nicola - you're a complete f*ckin weapon!! Just my opinion!! Bad move removing a manager you couldn't control and manipulate eh? Let's hope your "yes Man" doesn't disappoint. FFS. Thought we'd bloody got rid of one meddling, clueless Chairman and secret (failed in football success football) advisor with the new owner but seems not. FFS!! Worried!
