  1. We could probably find 100 players that were rubbish at 21 and stayed rubbish until they were 29 and beyond for every 1 player that got THAT much better.
  2. Deserve it, yes. Legally should we have it, no.
  3. Love the red kit. Think that's fab. Think the badges are, um, less slick. I think if we do anything on the badge it needs to be just tweaked, bought into the 21st Century. I think Arsenal did there's very well a few years ago. Kept the main thrust of the badge but made it look like a 21st century idea.
  4. I'm really not conviced by him. It could be one that he goes onto be great in time but i don't see it. Either way, if he wants out and the money is right the decision is out of our hands so it's not something to get o upset by. A million pounds buy's you a lot of striker in League One. But like others say, I'll be v surprised is anything happens until the ownership situation is sorted out.
  5. It depends how much money there is! I don't think we should take that view. I think the play offs would still be achievable but with everything that has happened this season and the last few i think we need to take our time now. Anything next season in my view is a bonus. Sure we need to aim for promotion but deep down if we're playing better in the second half of the season than the first and we've developed a nice settled team that would do for me. Reckon we'd have a real go then in 10-11.
  6. £2-3 mil i reckon. No great transfer fees just wages and a small amount of good quality prem loans. Keep Davis, Sajies. Be good if we could keep Surman and Llanna. Basically follow the Leicester model. Disagree about the need for a big name manager, just someone with a bit of a track record, i.e. Boothroyd or i would like to see Tisdale involved.
  7. Will Cope was made redunant a few weeks ago. ON Sky Sports a bit now. Apparently. Power's gone, Ocean goes in June. All a bit rubbish now, local radio is just a big central based joke.
  8. Possibly not. But i think clubs will need to reduce tickets just to maintain the staus quo this coming season. If they don't budge they will go down (top 4 exluded)
  9. Probably about right. Ticket price is an interesting one. I think it should be £15 - £20 a ticket. That might seem a little low but clubs could see their bums this season if they go to high. This is the season that the pressures of the credit crunch will really kick in. People aren't going to cough up £24 a ticket 3, 4 times a month in the middle of the winter. I think Season ticket holders should pay a fixed price but their exact same ticket is tracked through the season. That way, if gates are **** and we want to do deals like this season (which is absolutly right) than ST's still get say, £50 under what it would cost them to have bought individual match tickets all season. Any difference could come off the season ticket the following year. (No refunds if you don't continue with your ST) The thing is it's so hard now. It all depends on what comes out of admin though. All the above is waht i reckon is fair and just. If we've got a £1mil a year overdraft to pay on the stadium, that's going to affect things isn't it! Mind due, we'd still have to be very careful. People just won't pay £24 a ticket next season on a very regular basis.
  10. You miss the point a bit i think. Aviva might well force us to be wound up if they won't budge on the figure they are asking for. Meaning they will probably end up with nothing, or a very small fee for the land. Getting £7mil would be viewed as better than nothing. Also a football stadium is different to a man losing a house. Lot's of people want houses so Aviva can flog the house off. How many people want a stadium?
  11. I think £6mil was a very good deal at the time. Certinaly with John coming the other way (don't know if they were two deals but we didn't pay a fee for him) It's sort of broad as it is long. Ideally it would be wonderful to have an extra £1.5 mil coming this summer. But we were where we were at that time and that deal suited us best then, rather than no John or £1mil less on the up-front payment.
  12. Any bid is a good bid, at present. It might end in tears but at least there is the possibility of it going ok. I only want the club. In a good world we'd be top of the Prem. But it's not a good world. We take what we can get. If people scoff at the bidder cos of the time it's taken they are mad. They may well turn out to be **** but we take what we can get for now if it's that or disappear forever(even Lowe or even the Conference if we have to go bust first). Then they need 8 years. It's what Wupert had before the pressure really started. Let's not get nit picky over the small things and call for their heads!
  13. Surely this is rubbish at this stage. Unless the new owners are that close to a deal that they are talking to the players. There is just no one to sanction this at the club at present. Would be good for Lg1 but wages, bonuses, all that kind of thing, just can't be discussed until the new owners are in. Unless he's playing for free...
  14. Any manager is a gamble but you can reduce that risk by going for someone with experience... For us next season there is almost no bad name. All mentioned would be good, if not somewhat wishful thinking! Tisdale, Cotteriall, Boothroyd, Keegan, Hoddle... Ince. Only one i'm not sure about is Ince for some reason. I'm not Ince's biggest fan but then i doubt he is a big Sheff Saint fan either!
  15. Seems to me the Echo, like everyone else, has no real idea of what is going on. Are Pinnacle time-wasters? Probably not. They haven't signed the deal yet, that could just mean they are fighting to get every last penny off the asking price. Means they can invest more in the team in the longer term. C'mon people, try ignoring all this for now and just look at the glass half full! Fingers crossed!!
  16. AFC Wimbledon are a new club. Wimbledon never went bust, they 'just' moved up the road and changed their name. A re-formed Southampton could still be Southampton. If the council owned the ground it would be in most people's interest for us to start quite high up. I hope this is on someone's radar somewhere, just in case the worse happens... Still hope it won'tl. No news is good news.
  17. Would it be in our interests to go bust if we had to start next season with minus 25? Assume someone friendly buys the ground and we can start in the conference, would that be better? Ultimately we'll be in League 2 come 10/11 if we start next year on -25. Good chance of that if we went bust as well... Just a thought. Personally i'd prefer us to be in League one, there is something more admirable about that. I just wonder if this is influencing the talks? Probably not but in the absence of any other news, just my mind working over time!
  18. Well the council could buy the ground and someone (Crouch possibly) can re-form the football club. The Conference have already indicated they would accept a re-formed Saints, which would start, in effect with no debts. A relativly small outlay would be required to assemble a conference team and we'd only by 25 position worse off in the league ladder... Just a thought?
  19. The grey kit looked nice as a leisure shirt. It was horrible horrible horrible as an away kit. I hated it. It's was just synonymous with our season and the grey clouds hanging over SMS for me.
  20. And wouldn't this be during the summer anyway?
  21. That's rubbish. Either people on here know some serious inside information or they're trying to compare Lowe with 10 years at the helm, £x salary out the club, two relegations, administration and a dozen managers with Crouch who had 6 months in power, had invested £x million, was willing to offer more (however unrealistic that may or may not have been) and has kept the club going in the last few weeks. I'm not trying to defend Crouch as some Churchillian style leader, heck i'm not even that bothered by the man, but to lump him in with how Lowe handled the last few years of his tenure is just bang unfair and inaccurate. It also makes me really worried about the future. What is it that will actually make some of us happy?
  22. I just don't get people on here of late. Just what has Crouch done wrong? Everyone on here blames Wilde in one way or another but then, when someone comes along to try and remove him AND inject funds to the club, he is the one said to be an idiot. What? Crouch has more loyalty and business sense in his little finger than Lowe or Wilde. We probably are better off with none of them around but Crouch is a good man, businessman and fan that still hasn't done much wrong execpt maybe be a bit giddy with his utternances to the press.
  23. Was in Saturday's Echo as well.
