  1. Surely EVERYTHING the chairman does should be what the fans want? Of course, short term that can't always be the case. If we owe the bank £4million and someone offers us £5 million for DMG (after questioning their sanity) the chairman should take it. The fans might want to keep DMG but they want a club more. If you're not thinking of the fans why are you bothering?
  2. No. Normally want stability but not this time round. Get rid, start again and cross everything that we don't end up with another GB so we can keep them for 5 years!
  3. 100% correct in my opinion. I can only guess at the revenue generated by the club for the city. Chuck in a fee to rent the ground and i reckon that the council would at worst get their money back. To be honest, if it meant we had the stadium and could re-form to start in the conference, i would prefer this and us go bust and do that than Wupert coming back.
  4. Tisdale, Magilton. Both i think would get bags of support and hopefully some time. I suppose a lot does depend on what sort of budget they'd have (or not have) to play with next season!
  5. Agree. I think he could be a better player in the CCC than he was this year. But he clearly needed some experience around him, nuture him through his first full season! (And the next couple) But no, be lucky at the mo to get £2 mil. It'll probably be closer to a £1 million.
  6. I can't see this posted anywhere else but did anyone see the headline in 'The Non-League Paper' this weekend? Headline was 'Saints Alive' (which caught my attention) and there was a big piece on the fact the BSP chairman had been sounded out about a re-formed Saints playing in the league (although he said it was no-one at the club) He said he's be delighted if we did and there was something from Widderington and Nick Holmes saying how it would be great but sad too. So this might have some legs? It seems FL rules are that new clubs have to start only two divisions beloew the league they were in when they go bust. Sorry if posted elsewhere but if the worst were to happen this seems like we might be able to savalge something... I suppose a lot would depend on what happens with SMS but still...
  7. Well, if someone (the council) could buy the stadium and someone else could cobble a team together it appears we could start again in the conference. Given we'd be debt free and only two leagues lower, i'd take that and tell Lowe where to go. In all honesty it would probably only be a season until we got back level with if we didn't go bust and Lowe was in charge!
  8. Maybe. But maybe out of those 63% none of realised that the rug was likely to pulled only 5 days later... Maybe Wupert knew a bit more than us and still did nothing.
  9. Top 3 Wolves, Rotherham, Birmingham
  10. Agree 100%.
  11. I know it may seem silly but has anyone sounded out Eastleigh? Given 99% of Eastleigh supporters are Saints fans first couldn't we be reborn Southampton - Eastleigh or such like? We get to start from the Conference South / Conference and we move Eastleigh to St Marys? I know it's seems odd but we're all Southampton really. It's not like merging with Gosport or something.
  12. No but he lost the confidence of the bank so they called in the overdraft. And he lost the confidence of the bank by the short-sighted policies he'd put in place this season.
  13. In. The same that Watford were a bogey team so we are to Wolves. Let's make it count on Friday.
  14. What toss. Until Saturday we had gone from walkovers to reasonably hard to beat. Sadly we are still a few players short from being better than that, but we are where we are and i'm not opening all of that on here when there's 1,547,234 other threads on the subject. A few of the young lads showed promise but the first two thirds of the season showed they a) weren't all good enough and b) shouldn't be playing together at the same time, but intergrated slowly.
  15. We'll walk this league!
  16. Not sure that is true. Dave Jones was not an ok manager at best. After a decent first season the next one was dreadful and the year he left was the same again. Of course we don't know what state of mind he was in at that stage with all the rubbish hanging over him but i'm not sure i was sad when he left.
  17. Nine men. I thought Patterson 'out-shone' Smith at Brum in terms of poor performance / lack of ability.
  18. I'm starting to warm to Wotte a bit. Still not sure of his experience and his early comments were a bit wrong, but he's developing a personality.
  19. Hypothetical nonsense i'm afraid.
  20. And i would be delighted if i was proven wrong. I thought Davis was a shoddy keeper (i still think he's only the best of a bad bunch) but, nevertheless, he has really stepped up to the plate this season. My previous opinion of him was not being biggoted it was being accurate. Far too many mistakes and for the first half of last season was the weak link in a reasonably strong team. My main issue with McGoldrick is actually how he continues to play week in week out. Whether or not the lad will go on to anything is not the issue. There are plenty of times i've seen him when he has looked tired and not interested. Even Shearer and Le Tissier were only used spradoically early in the careers. For all our's sakes, to have taken him out of the firing line for a few games would have been good for him, in my opinion. Certainly since Saga came back, we've had that option.
  21. Playing on his own was he?
  22. Might have to wait until League 2!
  23. Of course i'm just speculating, but the financial year ends next week. Notts County didn't seem upset we had delayed payement so maybe it is something we agreed with them in advance. Perhaps it meant we could pay our tax bill for 08/09? I'm not sure. Of course it means we're strapped for cash, but then we knew that anyway. Might not mean we're days away from being bust just doing a bit of creative accountancy. Why on gods green planet do we owe Notts County a six figure sum for that sack of sh!t is another question altogether!
  24. That is the bigger picture in a nutshell. Well put.
  25. I heard yesterday Sheff Weds were after him but put off cos of his £20k a week wage demands!
