  1. Indeed. Plus Mohamed not getting interviews I would suggest implies an aversion to that name and the negative connotations it has with regards to Islam rather than any particular commentary on racism. How could they possibly know the person was black beforehand?
  2. There's obviously a psychological thing where people are drawn to names of candidates that sound more like them. The question though is whether the issue is purely because these people are a different race or if there are other factors at play. I'd happily remove names from cvs if people think that sort of thing would help. I can happily say I've employed tons of people from different ethnicities and if anything I've found Eastern European women and Muslim women to be some of the hardest working and friendly people so I'd probably look more kindly on them than some of the entitled young people who you could refer to as ethnically English.
  3. From memory when these sort of things have come up in the past, the aversion was that people react negatively to both unfamiliar names but also names with negative connotations which had nothing to do with race. So shanice, dwayne, candice, cortnee etc also had similar issues.
  4. That's a really weird article. It says the interview with the woman in question was "edited for brevity" then gives an interview with robotic answers in short paragraphs. I'm assuming this woman has some sort of mental disability like autism? There's not many other conclusions to come to when reading that. She sound like Matthew Le God.
  5. I still think if we are going to play Theo from the start then we need a decent striker off the bench to change it up a bit. Sack off long and get a pacy youngster.
  6. People moaning about Theo this week are mugs. Such a good option to have.
  7. I'm glad your school is doing that. Clearly not the case everywhere though. A lot of it is led by the headteacher I have found.
  8. A lot of schools have done this and it's important to point out that it's not the teachers that want any of this. Having said that, there are some teachers (most unionised) who are pushing their luck. As you know, it's not a black and white issue.
  9. I'd love that more than anything.
  10. You can't be serious contenders for the title for a few weeks. You don't win anything in December. I'm enjoying our brilliant form and it's so nice to see after the last few seasons but I'm not being ridiculous and going overboard. I'll be extremely happy with European qualification and leave it at that.
  11. Lame thread which will look more lame as the months go on. We have a great chance of Europe this year which would be superb.
  12. It's why this sort of thing is disgusting. Not only does it devalue actual racism, by claiming that you can be unintentionally racist they can effectively call anyone they like racist. It's pathetic and best ignored (and finally the government seem to have cottoned on as they have banned implicit bias training for civil servants.)
  13. On a separate note, does anyone know why Celtic fans are protesting against their board? Sure they're having a poor season by their standards but haven't they pretty much won everything domestically over the past decade? Is there something I'm missing?
  14. To be fair to Theo he's only had a few months to get used to a completely new system. What we are doing at the moment seems quite complex and I don't blame him that he isn't entirely up to speed. I still think he makes good contributions.
  15. I was responding to someone else who brought up the subject. Also dog whistle lol. I comment on every single game we play and amazingly you can post multiple different things every game and it doesn't just have to be specifically about how we have played! Also didn't your partner ban you from here?
  16. Bet they do when the stadiums are full and there is more unrest. Even if the woke right-on types protest about it.
  17. I will be so so disappointed if we fail to win this game.
  18. Have we had gardening? https://amp.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2020/nov/29/james-wong-other-arts-are-often-political-who-says-gardening-shouldnt-be-too#click=https://t.co/jkDIYY1DVm
  19. Would finish the day 4th at worst if we win. Huge game.
  20. I expect he's also on a reasonable wage we can afford. If we'd instead opted for an inconsistent youngster or a risky player that would no one had heard of then the chances of success imo would be small. He has played the part he was brought into play perfectly and what a player to have in the dressing room. I bet he's also contributed to our good start behind the scenes as well as he's clearly an intelligent book which is good as we need clever players for the football we play. Jwp, romeu, Walcott and I think Bertrand clearly have a fair amount between the ears which undoubtedly makes a difference. Not sure about the others but I'm sure that plays a part in our success.
  21. His signing means we now have options off the bench that can change the game. Whether he starts or is beefing up the bench, he's a decent signing and I hope we make it permenent. Miles better than long for a start.
  22. How dare britt assombalonga display his internalised racism so publically. Imagine suggesting that black lives matter is in some way linked with Black Lives Matter. Someone needs to have a quiet word and tell him that he needs to just keep his head down and take a knee. In all seriousness though, it's obvious that more clubs will start dropping it now or distancing themselves from black lives matter because they will be scared about the crowd reactions once everyone is back. The only reason they've got away with it for so long is because there have been empty stadiums so they can push their woke gestures unopposed and pretend that everyone supported it.
  23. I saw that. Prime example of the narcissism of people like this. He wants to be this generations MLK ffs...
  24. Hold on? How can Neil say that taking the knee is political? What a scandal the Boro players agreeing with the thick racists at Millwall.
